setup EX2700 using an AirPort Extreme
I have tried to set up with the Airport Extreme. There are no wps buttons on it so I tried mywifiext.net and get an error page then mywifiext.local and nothing happens. I have tried it on 3 different browsers with same result. The Airport Extreme does not recognize any new wifi device either. Can it be done or what am I doing wrong?

Have you tried connecting to it via an ethernet cable to do your setup? some people have better luck going that route.

Not yet. I was hoping to avoid that if I could.

Are you able to connect to the extenders wireless at all?

No, none of the suggested links worked and Netgear phone support was useless as he kept telling me to try everything I told him I had already tried. The Airport Extreme does not recognixze it at all.

Before the mywifiext.com or .net URLs are reconned locally, you need to connect your computer or mobile to the EX2700 default wireless name (SSID, NETGEAR_EXT if I have it right for this device) and the passphrase are printed on the product label.
Needless to say that the router (AE here) won't reconn the extender as long as it's not associated to it.
As long as the extender isn't connected (associated) to your router, while connected, it will issue a 192.168.1.x/24 network config to our computer by DHCP, the EX2700 IP address is you can try alternate to the DNS name to log into the extender by going to http://192.168.1.250/ .

The airport extreme isn't going to recognize it if you can't go through setup. If you can't access it via wireless using the defaults then you'll have to do it over a hardwired connection.
Have you tried resetting it back to default by holding the reset for 7-10 seconds?

Re: setup EX2700 using an AirPort Extreme
FWIW - the information shown on the "real " Internet mywifiext.net page don't apply to these smaller Netgear extenders like the EX2700 - Windows http://mywifiext (UPnP SSDP host annoucement) resp. Mac OS X or iOS http://mywifiext.local (Bonjour) are not available.
