The wifi at my College is protected by a username and password specific to me. After swapping the hard drive on my laptop something went wrong with how I get wifi and I needed a wifi adapter. In the NETGEAR GENIE there is no connect button like there is for the other wifi's. Is there any way that I can connect to this wifi? I have not found any solutions yet. I am running Windows 10 and the driver is fully updated. As seen in below pictures the secure one does not have a connect like the other.2.4KViews0likes3CommentsA6100 takes a few minutes after start up to connect to internet.

We have an old Netgear router that we believe is just going bad. I bought it about 7 years ago and, while our internet provider is slow, it seems the router is a big part of it as well. We bought the Netgear A6100 usb wifi adapter back in December when there was literally nothing that would make the internet work, including service calls to HP etc. With the adapter, it connects. BUT, I cannot find my package for it and we now need to buy a new router. Do we need to purchase specific models that are compatible with it or can any netgear router work? We are looking for the 5ghz one. I am not a huge techie, but I think there are 2.4 or 5ghz options, and the 5 is better for our needs right now. Any help?? Thank you! -Catherine4.1KViews0likes5CommentsA6100 Blue Screen SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED

Hello, Thanks for taking the time to read my question. I've searched for this answer and even sent an email to Microsoft, but no answer yet...I cannot find it anywhere. So what I'm wanting to know has more to do with WLAN in general than with my NetGear A6100 card but it does apply to my A6100 NIC. I installed the A6100 v1.0.0.30 with Genie on my Windows 8.1 64-bit machine and it seems to work good, I see many networks and all appears to be good, but I'm wondering if I should uninstall it and just use the standalone version? The reason I ask this is that this is the first WLAN NIC I've had in years, almost 7+ years since I last used WLAN and I realize that things have changed, but back then I had a Wireless NIC (don't wanna mention the name 'cause it wasn't a NetGear product), and I remember that the product had it's own WLAN service and driver and I had to turn off Microsoft's WLAN AutoConfig service in order for it to work properly. The PC I had this on was Windows XP Pro and I understand that Windows 8.1 has probably added some new things for networking but I'm wondering if I turn the WLAN AutoConfig service off in Windows 8.1 and uninstall the Genie version of NetGear and then install the standalone version, will I still have the ability to use WLAN on my Windows 8.1 machine. In other words, do I need the Windows WLAN AutoConfig service to be on for the NetGear driver and firmware to function. I do not like the Windows WLAN AutoConfig, it never seems to connect properly, loses connections alot (they go from good to limited, etc.) and would prefer to have only the NetGear drivers for accessing Wireless networks. I have all the latest updates from Windows Update installed, except the one where it offers to replace the NETGEAR A6100 Genie with the Microsoft version of it and I also know that other people on Windows 7 and 8 have issues with the Microsoft WLAN AutoConfig so this is not just something limited to my computer.15KViews0likes5CommentsA6100 using CPU to 100% on Win7
I bought this adapter last week at Walmart to install in an older computer (previous adapter broke during transportation). After installing, the CPU is always busy. The performance graphic shows CPU at 100%, and the task manager shows the process A6100.exe jumping to the top of CPU usage constantly. The computer was extremely un-usable. My computer has Windows 7 ultimate 32 bits. 2GB RAM. I did a search and found comments (from last year) in Amazon about the driver having a bug and trying to find an update once per second. NetGear took information but there doesn't seem to be resolution to the problem. There are several other comments with similar issue. I ejected and removed the adapter from my computer, but the driver kept running and taking most of the CPU time. I restarted and the driver still ran and kept taking most of the CPU time. So finally I uninstalled the software and my computer went back to being normal and responsive. Has there been an update to address this specific problem?:confused:10KViews0likes1Comment
