I just purchased two AC1750 R6400 routers with the intent of using one as the primary or modem router connected directly to my modem and the second as a bridge. I configured the primary router and confirmed that I could wirelessly connect to its 5GHz channel and successfully access the internet via my laptop. Next, I disconnected the ethernet connection of the primary router to the modem and connected the bridge router to the modem so it could be configured. Following the directions in the user manual, I then proceeded to set up the second router by selecting the radio button to "Enable Bridge mode" at the ADVANCED > Advanced Setup > Wireless Settings menu location. I clicked the "setup bridge mode wireless settings" and selected 5GHz as the network freqency, populated the SSID field and password with the 5GHz SSID name and password from the primary router, and selected the radio button for the proper "Security Option" on the bridge router to match that of the primary. I left the check boxes checked for both "Get IP Address Dynamically" and "Get DNS Server Address Dynamically" and hit "Apply." After the bridge router updated, I got a message stating, "Please change your computer's IP address manually if LAN IP subnet will be changed," and at the same time, the status light for the internet connection on the bridge router changed from white to red and I lost capability to access the internet. For troubleshooting, I've tried unplugging the power cord to both my cable modem and the bridge router for 5 minutes, but once powered back on, the internet status light is still red and there is no connectivity to the internet. I'm now stuck. I've followed the directions to the letter in the user manual on how to set up the secondary router as a bridge, but I haven't been able to get it to work. If anyone could help me complete a functional setup of my bridge router, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks, JamesSolvedTrying to disable WPS (bringing the topic to the top of lists again)
So - I've had my R6300v2 for a day. I've fiddled with most settings and I'm happy that for most things it'll do what I need. ALL EXCEPT WPS! A week ago I ordered a D-Link which shocked me when I found the WPS couldn't be turned off AND the unalterable PIN was printed on the base. Sent it back. Very odd as I have a little DIR-615 which CAN turn WPS on/off and alter the PIN all from the web interface. I looked at NetGear models, read through User Guides and went for the R6300. I definitely got the impression that you could turn WPS on or off. I've tried a whole bunch of variations but WPS stays on regardless ... ON THE TWO MAIN SSIDs. Quite interesting to note that WPS does not appear on the Guest SSIDs when activated. For a moment I thought I had the answer to my problem - use the Guests and disable the main ones. Alas - as you are probably already thinking - turning the main SSID off disables that WiFi frequency entirely. So, I'm left wondering WHY has this feature been omitted? And why is there no official response to at least one of the previous WPS threads on here? In fact, if you search, you'll find one respondent even says they were treated poorly by telephone support when they contacted them. I refuse to believe that a feature available in older hardware is now impossible to implement. The underlying silicon almost certainly has been developed from older designs and they are unlikely to have removed any features. So, come on NetGear - one (or more) of your bright developers needs to say, "You know, there are a lot of articles discussing the problems and insecurities of WPS, as a Google search of the last month shows. Perhaps we should give our customers the ability to turn it off if they want. No-one will moan if we give them more features."Solvedc6300 - Connected but shows Internet as "In Progress"
I have a one-month old C6300 Cable modem/router - provisioned through Time Warner Cable. My connection seems to be fine, but in the C6300 software on the dashboard it says my internet connection is "In Progress" and its color is red. I have the most recent firmware that came from TWC: V1.02.19 When I click on the internet connection, the message on the next screen says "failure" "your modem is offline" even though it is connected. On the next "cable connection" screen, the channels for upstream and downstream all show as disconnected "not locked". Should I really be concerned, or just leave it alone if everything is actually (finally) working?19KViews0likes7Commentstrying to bridge C6300 to WNDR3400v2
Upstairs NETGEAR Gateway C6300 (new) 192.168.1.1 replaced [A0] WNDR3700v2 (I needed a DOCSYS 3.0 cable modem) Downstairs NETGEAR WNDR3400v2 192.168.1.100 is a cable modem and router. I want to be a wireless bridge/repeater for . For the life of me, after many hours of trying, I cannot get and to see each other. With my laptop I can separately log into either one. Before I replaced [A0] with , could be a bridge/repeater for [A0] just fine. I just can't seen to get that setup now that I've bought A. It would be VERY impractical to connect A and B with an ethernet cable. broadcasts an SSID on 5GHz with WPA2. DHCP is On. does NOT broadcast an SSID on 2.4GHz, is set to Ch9 with no encryption. has the radio on 5GHz turned OFF. DHCP is Off. does NOT broadcast an SSID on 2.4GHz, is set to Ch9 with no encryption. (apparently bridging requires no encryption and both units on the same channel) The intention is the two units should talk to each other privately on 2.4GHz. has set up "Enable Wireless Repeating Function", IPaddr 192.168.1.100, Base Station MAC Address set to 's MAC. has an entry in its registered hosts with 's IPaddr and MAC. I would think that and should at least see (ping) each other, but they can't, and I have no idea why. Netmask is 255.255.255.0 throughout. Thanks for any suggestions. I've been working on this for hours/days, and it's been extremely frustrating.13KViews0likes9CommentsFrequent disconnects
Hello I have a C6300(AC1750) modem router and I've been experiencing frequent disconnects. They last for about a minute. Its very noticeable when streaming Netflix, a Skype video call or online gaming, though you can notice on web browsing because everything just stops loading for a period. I've tried wired and wireless(with my netgear usb adapter) but it makes no difference. We do have a Motorola surfboard connectted via Ethernet so we can have wifi in the garage where the signal is non existent. It is also a router/modem but I turned off dhcp. This happens on my phone, laptops desktops... if anyone could provide assistance I'd be grateful.12KViews0likes6CommentsDelay Before I Can Access Network With C6300
I have a C6300-100NAS WiFi Cable Modem Router. Each time I reboot my system there is a 5-10 minute delay before I can access the modem/router or my NAS which is connected to the router (NAS is connected through Ethernet cable not USB). Any ideas on what could cause this behavior? Model - C6300-100NAS* Firmware - V1.02.2110KViews0likes3CommentsC6300 Voice line question (EMTA will brick the C6300?)
I just added voice line to my comcast account because it was the only way to lower my bill. The technician told me that once the voice line was active, the C6300 cable modem would not longer work because the line would interrupt the internet reception, so I need a cable modem with EMTA capabilities. Is he correct? I have no plans to use the voice line. Can I just get some sort of EMTA splitter? I would prefer to keep my Netgear C6300. Frustrated if this is true, because I've been very satisfied with the C6300.9.6KViews0likes1CommentC6300 DynDNS access problem
I can not login via iPhone app to a couple of local services (CCTV & Security) on my network via the C6300's wifi while using my dns address (example johndoe.dipmap.com). The services work fine when I am using the iPhone/iPad on 4G/LTE. The "apps" do work when addressed/routed with wifi using their actual address (192.168.0.6). My DNS address actually worked for the 1st day after installation until I started adding devices to the Reserved Lan IP address table. Any ideas? This C6300 is an upgrade from my CG3000D which has been performing properly for a couple of years. This upgrade is to increase wifi range and bandwidth.9.2KViews0likes1CommentUnable to set to Internet time?
Currently using firmware version : V2.01.18 on my C6300. There is no provision to let me set the time, and apparently whoever is setting the time is an hour off from my U.S. Eastern Standard Time. The actual time right now is 10.08am, yet my router thinks it is 9:08am. I have tried setting to 8.8.8.8, wit no difference. How about the next firmware update you allow the user to set the time, either syncing with my computer, or just plain allowing me to put a time/date in. I have tried support chat, and after about twenty minutes with one of your people, they finally realized that there is NO option for me to set the time or date in this router/modem. After my support chat with Netgear, I called Comcast/Xfinity as he suggested. The Netgear support person said that it was Xfinity's fault. Well, Xfinity said that it was my Netgear Router/Modem that is supposed to select the time time zone, and since Netgear doesn't allow me to set the time zone, Xfinity has no idea what time to send to the modem/router. Netgear may call it fingerp pointing, but it can be fixed, by putting the option in for the end user to either specify a time zone, or actually allowing the end user to enter a time/date. Very nice router/modem, but this is just plain stupid that I do not have control over the time/date on it. Will this be fixed in newer firmware for the C6300/AC1750 Cable Modem Router Docsis 3.0?8.3KViews0likes9Comments
