Hello, We have an SXR80 router and 2 SXS80 satellites. All are under warranty, but Netgear has EOL'd these devices. That means that there are no more firmware updates, etc. What are our options for replacing these? I mean, they weren't cheap and now they're not even supported by the manufacturer. Warranty doesn't mean much in this instance, does it?Recommended Solution to Cover Very Large Outdoor Area
Hello. I am looking for guidance on a Wi-Fi purchase to support a Magic Leap Augmented Reality presentation with an extremely large outdoor area. I currently use a Nighthawk LTE Mobile Hotspot Router (MR1100) just fine with 4 Magic Leap 2 devices and Sphere from an on-premises laptop presenting medium to large buildings in AR. The internet is not involved in this equation for security. So, the data is sent from the secure laptop to the MR1100 router, and then to the Magic Leap 2 devices. The largest building I presented outdoors with only one MR1100 placed in the middle is ~16,000 sq. ft., and this worked just fine. However, I fear the size of the next project/building, which is ~191,000 sq. ft. (not to mention the site around it), will need Wi-Fi extenders, access points, mesh system, or other. In addition, we should be adding 3-6 Magic Leap 2 devices to this presentation. Can anyone recommend a solution/purchase for this coverage area and scenario? The power for these devices can be AC wired. However, battery operated is recommended if available. Our AR presentations typically range from 1-2 hours due to the battery life of the Magic Leap 2 devices.438Views0likes3CommentsBest products for a router/modem/access point home network?
Hi all! I don't know much about this stuff. Forgive my uneducatedness in advance, please. I'm just a simple guy that wants a reliable and easy-going network. I don't really care about speeds; we really only use our internet for streaming video and surfing the web. I live in a 3-story townhome and the modem hook-ups are in the basement. We had a ceiling Cat 5 box installed on the top floor for a POE access point. My ideal situation is a cheap and reliable modem/router in the basement, and a POE access point on the upper floor. That should work well enough for our needs. Problem #1: I've only bought used modems/routers so far and all of them have been crappy. Right now I'm on Google Wifi (barf) and have to reset routers and modems at least once a week when the WiFi cuts out (but ethernet continues to work). What's a simple and cheap router/modem solution? It doesn't need to be able to handle high speeds. Problem #2: I need a POE access point that works nicely with my router/modem solution. I've tried a Netgear WAX214PA among some other devices in the past, but all of them created new network names/passwords on top of my existing network coming from my modem. I don't want to log into new networks (so to speak) each time I walk up or down the stairs. What's an access point that will make the transition flawless by simply expanding my single home network? Thank you!673Views0likes0CommentsWAX620 transmission power information
I have searched for information about the transmission power of the Access Point WAX620 equipment, we are purchasing a number of devices to implement a WiFi network project. In Peru they ask us for this information to request the approval of the equipment and to enter the country. I would be grateful if you could provide me with this information so that I can use those equipment for which we have the best references in terms of performance and capacity.707Views0likes1CommentWAX220 - Access Point as Central Unit in All-Wireless Network
Hello, I'm thinking of buying a WAX220 AP to set up a lab with many devices. I don't need an Internet or an Ethernet connection to a router, I just want a local private all-wireles network for many devices. Is this possible I've read the manual and it looks like after powering on (with an adapter) one could first connect to the Managed Wifi to setup the AP - changing the password, creating the first User Wifi, setting up the DHCP range - and then simply connecting my lab devices to the new User Wifi, assuming DHCP works for them. What do you think? Thanks907Views0likes1CommentWireless Access Point comparison between the WAX Range (WAX218, WAX220, WAX610, WAX620 & WAX630)
Greeting Netgear Community, I would like to seek your advice and knowledge regarding setting up my home WIFI connection. I am based in Melbourne and recently moved into a two-story house. Previously I've been using the Telstra Router with WIFI function for about 7-10 years and thought it was about time for an upgrade (my partner keeps complaining that the WIFI is slow where it can take up to 16 hours to perform updates on the PlayStation console). NOTE: The game requires an update every month I am looking to mount these WAPs on the ceiling where they are out of sight but provide high-level WIFI coverage. I've read some reviews and the following WAPs were recommended however I'm struggling to determine the differences between these WAPs: - WAX218 - WAX220 - WAX610 - WAX620 - WAX630 I'm aware that the WAX600 range offers Insight Manage Subscription however given that this is primarily home use, I don't think I will need this subscription package. I am looking WAP that meets the following requirements: - Currently, I have between 30 to 50 devices connected - High transfer speeds for NAS Streaming and file copying - Good coverage around the house - Single SSID WIFI and password (devices only connect to one SSID around the house) - WAP that offers future proofing (something that will last for another 7 to 10 years) without much maintenance I plan to get the house hard-wired up, where all the network cables will terminate in my study room. NOTE: My study room has a Server rack where I plan to purchase a 24x Port switch and an 8x Port POE switch (any recommendations on the model would be appreciated) Thank you in Advance Regards San4.2KViews0likes2CommentsWAX220 Guest Network - Unsecured
Do not buy this Access Point and expect a secure Guest Network. The original firmware had an option for L2 Isolation, but updating removes this option and reverting does not restore it. The Guest Network is broken, since it allows access to any device connected to the internal network via Ethernet with no way of isolating. It is a bad joke that even the WAX214 has better security and allows for L2 Isolation on both guest and regular SSID's. In 2023, implementing a proper Guest Network is something that apparently too complex for the firmware developers here. They'll push for selling more cloud subscription crap, but they can't even get something like this done correctly. No idea how anybody could justify paying a monthly fee and expect things to be properly secured after seeing this. Also, the timezone seems to keep defaulting itself to Pacific Standard Time. Did QA even test this model?Solved5.1KViews0likes14CommentsCompatible PoE Wireless Access Points for WAX202 acting as router
My current setup is a WAX202 (WAX202-100NAS) AP set up as a router. The other half side of my house has weak signal, I would like to purchase an access point that is strictly PoE so I can do a network drop on the other side of my house to this AP, this drop will not have access to a DC power outlet and must be strictly PoE for this AP. What products are compatible and you guys would recommend so I can do this? Thank you for all the assistance, I have been looking around and unable to find products anyone recommends.
