It would be great if you could see realtime bandwidth per device for the netgear r7000, similar to Google Wifi and Eero. It would be a really useful info and diagnostic tool to see what devices are currently taking up bandwidth. It would be great if this was added to the router web administration page as well theNetgear Genie and/or Netgear Up apps. I've attached a screenshot of how this feature looks on Google Wifi.26KViews93likes15CommentsDOCSIS 3.1/Eurodocsis 3.0 Modem
Since DOCSIS 3.1 has been released in many markets (Cox, Comcast etc) in the US giving us the consumer options to upgrade to speeds greater to or equal to that of 1Gbps I would like to request to see if it would be possible for Netgear to create a Firmware Update that would give us the ability to Bond two WAN ports with LAG / LACP on the R9000, using the available LAN1 and LAN2 ethernet ports designated for Static LAG or LACP-IEEE 803.3ad. There are now many consumer grade DOCSIS 3.1 Modems that support this due to the fact that speeds are now at or above 1Gbps. In order to bypass the 1Gbps physical port bottle neck, this makes perfect sense. Just for the sake of naming a few modems that have this capability, here I name a few: Motorola MB8600, Arris CM8200, Arris SB8200. I'm sure Netgear will also release DOCSIS 3.1 cable modems that have WAN port bonding simply due to the new speeds of internet available to us via this medium.18KViews1like4Comments(Outgoing) VPN client functionality
Hi, I am using a VPN service on my devices for privacy purposes, but I hoped it would be possible to set the router up as a VPN endpoint so that the connection would be transparent to the devices. In addition to being easier to maintain one connection, opposed to separate connections per device, I would also think this would be more secure: With a kill switch in the router, the devices would lose internet access and be unable to use an unsecure connection. It would also probably save the smartphone battery as the VPN app wouldn't have to be active continously. This functionality would be helpful even if it was implemented without any advanced features, however I see that it could potentially be expanded with more advanced functionality as following steps. The background: I'm using a shared internet connection going through my landlord's router, and I like to use VPN to protect my privacy. I hope this is something you could consider. Please let me know in case of any questions or if any specification is necessary. Thank you!14KViews16likes4CommentsFirewall Rules for Internet/WAN -> LAN on IPv4 and IPv6, LAN -> WAN/Internet for IPv4 and IPv6
Amazing Orbi, Orbo Pro, Nighthawk Routers, DSL Routers, Mobile Routers have service blocking (only for IPv4 why ever) - limiting the LAN -> Internet access (why ever somebody want to do this) but there is no control to manage firewall rules for Internet/WAN -> LAN. When can we expect a workable UI ot manage firewall rules for IPv4 and IPv6 LAN->Internet and Internet/WAN->LAN please? And then support for a ISP changing IPv6 prefix (ie. if the ISP does change the IPv6 prefix because they use rapid deployment (6rd) where the prefix is linked to the IPv4 address. And every time a user is seeking or this the Netgear mods reply to use Service Blocking - what of course does not work for WAN/Internet -> LAN. It would be cool if the router could log or help block tracking cookies like the ones shown here: https://www.magnumvpn.com/how-to-view-cookies-in-chrome.html This would be nice in knowing which sites are partnered with which advertisers.7.4KViews0likes0Comments
