When I copy a large file (example: Ubuntu 24.04.3 ISO, 6.3 GB) from my RN31400 NAS to my local drive on a Windows 10 machine using SMB, the file will almost always contain at least one error (as detected with fc /b). If I copy the same file to the same drive when the machine is booted into Linux and using NFS, the file will contain no errors. Has anyone run into this? I'm using the latest NAS firmware (6.10.10).24Views0likes2CommentsUnable to access file Disk write protected

I was in the middle of running a full backup of my readynas 10400 system yesterday and something has gone wrong. Now I cannot access the shares, and the system is showing the message that 'No Volumes Exist' and telling me to remove inactive volumes in order to use the disks. It was set up as a Raid 5 array using 4 discs, and one of them failed the other day, hence my decision to run a backup. I do not have a full backup of all the data so I need to get access back into those shares. I am at a loss as to what to do. I've replaced the failed drive with a new one but still no joy. From what I have read this probably means that the array is out of sync but I don't know how to get it to resyncronise. I have downloaded the logs so can supply them if required. I was in the process of setting up a robust backup system when this happened, so I hadn't managed to back it all up yet. Help, basically.50Views0likes1CommentReadyNAS as rsync backup for unRAID
With the unceremonious 86'ing of the ReadyNAS line, I was looking for ways to get more life out of my RN626 and RN314. Turns out they make excellent backup/clone storage for unRAID servers. After fully factory resetting and wiping my RN626, I installed the rsync server Docker app on my unRAID system. From there, it was just a matter of straightforward configuration and entering the pertinent settings (e.g., username, SSH key) on both systems. It's all so straightforward that it doesn't even really need a step-by-step. I think the most technical element was exporting the ReadyNAS' SSH key and copy-pasting it into the Docker config. I've since configured my ReadyNAS to boot up at specified times via its GUI (very useful functionality that unRAID lacks out of the box). It then clones the unRAID on a per-share basis with its built-in rsync capabilities and then shuts down automatically after a certain time has elapsed. Because the ReadyNAS is now a one-trick pony that only spins up for a few hours per week, I don't feel the same urgency around updating its outdated OS. And I have a full, set-it-and-forget-it, daily onsite clone of my unRAID system should the worst happen. I don't doubt that this use case has already occurred to many folks, but I wanted to share it in case it hadn't. It's been a great way to extend the useful life of my ReadyNAS.903Views0likes2CommentsEDA500 gone, now all shares on main NAS don't appear
I had two EDA500s connected to my 316. They both messed up, at the same time resulting in data loss. Now......... in Windows Explorer, I have always seen the old shares names appear in the list. Today I tried to delete the EDA500 and the result was: No shares except for one now shows up in Windows Explorer. Even ones on the main NAS that are folders in /data. There are about 5 shares in /data/ that SHOULD be appearing. If I do ls on /data, they are there. In the UI, there are no shares at all whatsoever. So I am guessing something is out of whack with the smb config. What can I do to f ix this?707Views0likes1CommentREADYNAS 212 : QBitto##ent not getting installed

Hi everyone, in march 2023 I bought the new Mac Book Pro 14" M2 with OS Ventura installed. For the first month everything worked fine with my ReadyNas 104. It was reachable both from browser and as a network share. I suppose that last update to 13.4.1 has changed something. As an absurd fact I can reach it remotely, but not on local network, it says that my Mac is not on the same LAN, but that's not true. Any other device (iPhones iPads, Samsung Tv, other Macs) still works fine with NAS Thanks for answering Pale774.6KViews0likes16CommentsAlternative to stopped ReadyCloud-Service?
I just learned that Netgear has abondend the ReadyCloud-Service. I used ReadyCloud to access my NAS from my mobile to upload photos & videos. Is there any alternative solution out to do the same without ReadyCloud? What can I do and how? Kind regards, Stefan928Views0likes1Comment
