It would be great if you could see realtime bandwidth per device for the netgear r7000, similar to Google Wifi and Eero. It would be a really useful info and diagnostic tool to see what devices are currently taking up bandwidth. It would be great if this was added to the router web administration page as well theNetgear Genie and/or Netgear Up apps. I've attached a screenshot of how this feature looks on Google Wifi.26KViews93likes15CommentsUpdate/Refresh Netgear Genie Program
PLEASE update the Genie program. It is so slow, clunky, outdated, and ugly. It's really pathetic, especially in the vain of more expensive hardware. The user experience does not match the price. It's like buying a Mercedes but the seats are made of cheap cloth. If I spend hundreds of dollars on a top of the line product, I expect the software to be excellent. Other companies have much better software. Catch up.223KViews37likes21CommentsNetgear Genie - Network Map
The network map needs more work. The current version assumes that your primary network adapter is the subnet you want to scan. That is not always the case. We need an option to specify the subnet to scan for devices. In reality it should be reading the ARP and DHCP table from the main internet router and the application should not be scanning the network. It would also be nice if the device master list was actually stored on the router its self. Each individual Genie apps seems to be generating its own list. The network map seems to have a limit on the number of devices. I have about 55-60 IPed devices in my house and I can only see about 30 at a time. Hello Netgear its the IoT age and everything is on WiFi now... I love that parental controls and network map now allow device by device profiles settings. However, given the limitations to the network map feature above its hard to control every device, from every Genie application and from remote locations.76KViews15likes7CommentsCustom device types and icons
I've been using the Orbi RBK50 for over a month, and I set up all my connected devices in Netgear's backend admin, with their names and device types. But I find that the selection of types and icons is super limited, especially now that we have so many smart home connected devices. No smart speakers or soundbars, no smart thermostats/ACs, no smart lights, and so much more. I was using a TP-Link router before and they had some of these already. I know this is just an interface thing, but it would make recognizing some devices easier and faster, if they're labelled and showing accurately in the admin panel and on the network map.5.6KViews9likes11Commentscannot sign in to openDNS account to set-up parental controls using NETGEAR Genie
Hi, I am trying to use NETGEAR Genie Parental controls and when I attempt to login to my OpenDNS account, I get the following error message: "There was an error signing, in please make sure you're connected to the Internet and try again" I am connected to the internet and I can open my account using the same email and password on the OpenDNS site but Genie will not connect. I have a D6300 WiFi ADSL Modem Router running firmware version V1.0.0.90 Any ideas? This is getting frustrating, as I have tried several times, at different moments of the day - just in case that helps... THANK YOU for anyone who may be able to help.Solved21KViews5likes110CommentsWhy is Netgear WiFi Analytics app removed from Google Play Store?
Can someone from Netgear please tell me why the Android-based Netgear WiFi Analytics app seems to have been removed from the Google Play Store? This is a very useful app for checking WiFi signal strengths, viewing channels used by both 2.4 and 5GHz signals, checking for over-subscribed channels, and graphing signal strengths from multiple sources over time to see how they fluctuate. Have the functions in this app been fully replicated in another Netgear app? If anyone would still like to be able to obtain this app, please hit the Kudos button below - it seems that the Netgear Support Team keep an eye on the posts with high Kudos ratings. Thanks for your help :smileywink: Here are some screen shots (I've obscured MAC addresses and SSIDs).Solved6.5KViews4likes1CommentUpgrade to latest firmware breaks Genie App access (Firmware Version V1.0.3.46_1.1.32)
Been reading through the comments here. The problem: Upgrading the R8000 to the latest firmware disables the ability to use the Genie app for remote management. I've reverted back to a previous version and confirm that I can connect. Upgarding the firmware back to the latest breaks things again. Resetting the router to factory defaults in NOT an option. This would be alot of needless work and from what I've read that doesn't solve the issue. The reasoning given for "clearing the memory" doesn't make sense. To the best of my knowledge no other router/network gear manufacturer requires a factory reset on upgrading firmware. Please advise when a solution will be available.5.3KViews4likes4Comments
