IPV6
13 TopicsOrbi loosing IPv6 routing ability consistently
I have a consistent problem with a (latest firmware) Orbi system in that it continues to loose IPv6 fucntionality (but not addresses) - and this seems to mirror a bug Netgear has with other routers as well. I have native dual-stack - and I use DHCP to successfully get IPv6 addresses. All my devices get dual-stack addresses and work - for about 1-3 days. Then, while my devices all retain their IPv6 routing info (as does Orbi), there is NO communication on '6' anymore. I need to refresh and "Apply" in the Orbi IPv6 pane to fix it - but have to do that literally every day now. There have been other posts with IPv6 tunnel and other (non-native) implemntaitons. What gives? Something Netgear is working on? thxC6300 not able to reach ipv4 sites, but only ipv6 sites
Started using my C6300 at a new home with Xfinity/Comcast cable in May 2017. About two days ago (mid-September 2017), we couldn't reach most sites and received 'server can not be found' or 'internet not reachable' errors to ipv4 sites. We can reach the big ipv6 sites like Google, Facebook, Youtube, via both wifi and directly connected with ethernet to modem. I called Xfinity and rebooted modem multiple times, to no avail. Xfinity rep stated it could be a firmware change from Netgear (although from i read online, Xfinity/Comcast controls the firmware updates of the netgear modems?). I can see ipv6 address, but no ipv4 router address in my wifi settings. And when i test my ip address on the one website i can reach (http://whatismyipaddress.com/ds-check), it shows an ipv6 address, but ipv4 is "not detected." Xfinity stated i should test one of their modems, or have technician come out to test one (for a fee). The other solution offered was to try a factory reset on my modem. Any insight out there on why after months of working fine, ipv4 sites can no longer be reached? Thanks TJSolved6.1KViews0likes5CommentsCant login to openDNS from genie
My router is a DGN2200 A few problems - how do I know what version I have as it does not seem to say anywhere - does that mean that this version will not work with Genie? I managed to use the Genie App the first time I login in and changed the parental controls itbut now it comes back with the message "Netgear router not found or is not supported. Make sure that your mobile device is not connected to the router's guest network and the the iPv6 is not enabled" Okay so how do I know if I am connected to the "guest network"?? What is iPv6? Is my login what is written on my router? I am finding this really hard to navigate through please help4.5KViews0likes7CommentsR7000 keeps losing IPv6 WAN address
Hello, I'm with Rogers Cable and am able to obtain and keep an IPv6 address when using the Rogers Hitron CGN3 gateway, but when I use the R7000 it gets an IPv6 address for an hour or so and then I lose it. I can get it back again by rebooting the R7000 only (no need to reboot Hitron). I can confirm this has been an issue with at least the last three firmware versions. Currently using V1.0.8.34_1.2.15 Any suggestions would be appreciated.Solved8.2KViews0likes20CommentsGuest isolation in AP mode works on latest firmware...almost (tl;dr IPv4 is OK, IPv6 not so much)
The good: Things work like you'd expect - you can reach the Internet but nothing on the local network except DHCP and DNS. The bad: If your network has IPv6, it completely bypasses isolation. Netgear, thank you for putting the effort in to get this right for IPv4, but please don't forget it's increasingly an IPv6 world out there. Please add proper isolation for IPv6 in the same manner you already are for IPv4. RodneyNetgear C3000 IPV4 address issue
Hi, I noticed that I have a IPV6 address with netgear C3000. However IPV6 could sometimes blocked by other website because of potential DDOS attack source. So I want to get IPV4 only, how can I do that, please provide me the steps, thanks! Alex2.4KViews0likes1CommentA6100-10000S Windows 10 v1607 IPv6 Issue
I am finally running Windows 10 Anniversary Upgrade, version 1607, build 14393.xxx, with the A6100 Wireless AC Adapter running the latest Netgear driver set, 1.0.0.32. Under version 1511, the adapter performed well with all features showing agreement with status reported by icons and labels in taskbar and in network and sharing center. Homegroup was active with PC status as "private". This is no longer true with W10 V1607. I did not/do not use Netgear A6100 MPC software to manage under either version. Now A6100 connects to wireless lan and the internet. I note that my connection is IPv6 protocol at 5MHz when with v1511 it was IPv4 at 2.4MHz. Status confirms internet is connected for both IPv4 and IPv6, Media state is enabled, and SSID is correctly shown. Chrome and Firefox function normally in searches and website usage; I do not use MS browsers. But taskbar's wireless icon is asterisked and lable reads "Not connected - connections are available". Connections Available shows SSID as "secure, no internet". Control Panel Basic Information reports that "You are not connected to any networks", and Change Adapter Settings Network Connections icon shows that Netgear A6100 WiFi Adapter is "Enabled" rather than listing SSID of wireless network connection. Also, "Computer cannot connect to a Homegroup" since status is "public" and cannot be changed to "private". Norton Security Suite updates just fine, but Windows Update cannot "check for updates because you are not connected to the internet." Reverting back to W10 v1511 sets everything right again, but that is not what I want to do. This has all appearances that the IPv6 protocol is not properly managed in W10 v1607 but I only speculate. This would indicate a driver issue affects proper network management. Anyone else seeing this? Any insights would be welcome.4.8KViews0likes3CommentsR6100, I keep losing IPV6 connectivity
Greetings Gear Group :manindifferent: Running Windows 10 Pro 64bit 1607... I just noticed this 2 or 3 weeks ago. My Samsung Galaxy S6 Always had a link speed of 867 Mbps. One day it was slow on wifi, and the link speed was 585. So I kept checking it and it got as low as 110 Mbps! I'm po'd. I restarted my phone, shutdown wifi, FORGOT the network, and it helped for a bit but then the link speed started dropping again. Then I started checking the link speed on my laptop. It was also usually 867 Mbps, and it was dropping - just not nearly as bad as my phone. So I found a place in laptop wifi adapter where it gave details. I hadn't known about before. It tells you about IPV4 and IPV6 whether it has Network Access, Internet Access, or No access. And several times I checked and it had no IPV6 Internet connection. Pictures to demonstrate. FYI, I've disabled, even uninstalled my wifi adapter on laptop, made sure drivers were current, had several post with Intel support to tell me if it could be the adapter. It's an Intel Dual-Band AC 7265, one of their better wifi adapters. Well, I'm noticing the same problem on my desktop Ethernet adapter. It's a Realtek Gigabit adapter. So I'm definitely inclined to think it's the router. I've rebooted it, reset it, changed channels, checked firmware - don't know what else to try. I've included a screenshot of the IPV6 seup screen from Netgear. And I've included the 2 screens from my ethernet adapter that show the IPV6 has no Internet connection. Notice the red arrows on the Network Connection Details. There is no IPV4 WINS Server, and no IPV6 DNS server. What is the WINS Server? I guess it's not important, since I have a connection. And why doesn't the IPV6 have a WINS Server?? Just curious.... Thanks for any help.Solved9.7KViews0likes6CommentsStatus of IPv6 Firewall configuration on R7000
Hi there. I have been looking through some old and semirecent threads about the ability to configure the IPv6 firewall in the R7000. Unfortunatly my router is way passed the support-life so I doubt I can open a case with the question so I figured I'd try and see if there is any new information to be had here? I tried using a 3d-party firmware but due a severe lack in performance when running on 3d-party firmware I can't really use that. Any Rep reading this forum that can give any information about the state of this? Is it available somehow? Or is it a planned feature in a not do distant future? // MattiasSolved9.3KViews0likes13Commentsdisable ipv6 CM 500
