I have a GS305v3 unmanaged switch that I just bought and attempted to use. It is connected to my internet via cat6 cable that I ran from my office in my house where my router/modem is located, to my bedroom. When I connect any device to the ethernet port that I put in the bedroom, I have no issues connecting to the internet. But if I plug the switch into the port, then any device to the switch, no internet is passing through. All lights on the switch illuminate as they should according to the manual, but I can't seem to find any info as to what the problem possibly is. For a clear picture of how all the hardware is set up: Fiber internet direct to router/modem in office Cat6 cable to ethernet port in office Cat6 cable from office ethernet port to bedroom ethernet port through the attic Any device connected directly to ethernet port in bedroom works perfectly with 1000mbps+ download Switch plugged direct to ethernet port, devices plugged into switch, no internet to any devices Any advice would be greatly appreciated and thank you in advance to anyone who offers advice.161Views0likes17CommentsGS308P left yellow LED blinks slow. No Internet Connection on this port
Hi everyone, what could be the reason when the left led blinks Slow and rythmically (not the fast flickering when there is Traffic)? I have No Internet Connection on the TP-Link EAP115 N300 Wireless Ceiling Mount Access Point that is connected to this port with the blinking led. I already connectrd another AP to this cable and No Internet there also. When i Plug another cable from another AP into the port the internet connection works fine. So for whatever reason there seems to be a problem with the cable that has worked for some years now. But is the blinking led maybe pointing to something else? Am i missing something? Thanks in advance!583Views0likes1CommentA point in right direction to educate myself on UnManaged switch
I'm new to the switch thing and I bought a GS108V4 to add more lan lines and to run another wireless access point. I'm hung up on not wanting to run a straight line and want to make 3-4 separate groups. I have 3 lan off my wifi6 router but only want to use 2. Should I use my switch in-between the modem and router or use a older router as a switch in-between the 2? And I really don't know much about managed and unmanaged but from what I have read on so far I'm thinking I bought the wrong one thinking I was able to put different securities on the unmanaged switch I thought the managed had all the security preloaded on it can you still mess with the security on and on managed switched through an IP? I can't seem to figure out how somebody keeps getting into my network even with nothing hooked up to any internet and changing my system and apps as hope and throwing a switch on there in a few access points and separate and things might solve the problem. Thanks in advance.Solved1.5KViews0likes4CommentsThinking about replacing my gs 608 and gs605 with gs prosafe 108 and gs prosafe 105.
I currently have my home network set up in the following manner. Frontier Fiber ONT->cat5e->Netgear AX11000 (Rax200) Wan port. I have my four Lan ports connected and the 2.5 multi gig port as port 5 connected as Lan Port to a Motorola Moca adapter that I used for my Fios TV service Three of the Lan ports are connected directly to three different locations in my house via internal cat 5e wiring and I currently have the fourth port connected to a GS608 switch that connects the four other locations in my house. I recently dropped the Frontier TV service and subscribed to DirectTv Stream service therefore increasing my need for ethernet connections in all locations of my house. In every location (including the ones connected via the gs 608 switch I have added a gs 605 switch in order to accommodate the need to connect my DirectTv Stream boxes. Location one Router->internal cat 5e>gs605->my network printer, desktop computer, Direct Tv Stream Box, and Xbox Series X. Location two Router->internal cat5e->gs605->Roku Ultra, Laptop computer, Direct Tv Stream Box, Blue Ray Player Location three Router->internal cat5e->gs605-> AX 6000 (Eax80) Wi-Fi Mesh Extender in access point mode, Direct Tv Stream box, Smart TV, Xbox One X Location four Router->cat 6 cable->gs608->internal cat5e->gs605->desktop PC, smart tv, PlayStation 5, Direct Tv Stream box. Locations five six and seven are identically configured. Router->cat 6 cable->gs608->internal cat5e->gs605->smart tv, Direct Tv Stream box. Everything right now is working perfectly, and I did an experiment powering all DirectTv Stream boxes and all of them had excellent connectivity. I tried replacing the gs608 switch with the gs108 but ran into connectivity issues on all my devices that were still connected via gs605, so I put the gs608 back and the problem went away. Should I leave well enough alone or replace the gs608 with the gs108 and the gs605's with gs105's and see if by replacing the 605, 608 family of switches with the gs108 and gs105 family would work as the gs105 and gs108 have a better warranty.1.8KViews0likes3CommentsJGS524v2 Vertical Mounting Possible?
Just received my new 24 port switch. I will mount it in a 19" rack in due course (thus horizontally of course) but cannot do that yet. Is there any restriction on mounting it any VERTICAL orientation in the mean time? I'm wondering about problems with heat dissipation given its a fanless unit. Any advice gratefully received.771Views0likes1CommentFVS338 ProSafe as an unmanaged switch
I have an FVS338 ProSafe VPN Firewall 50 that is no longer in use. I could use an unmanaged switch in my home network. Is it possible to use the FVS338 as an unmanaged switch. If so do I need to do anything other than change the IP address and disable DHCP? It is currently set to factory defaults.Solved2.1KViews0likes4CommentsSecond GS205 connected to router not sharing internet
Hello community.... I cannot find specific answers to my problem amd appreciate help. I have used one of these switches for 18months without issue. Connected to my R8000 router and the. To the peripherals. Now I bought another one, and connected a working LAN cable to the switch, but devices connected to the switch have no network. I have interchanged he switches and the new one works with the old setup. My last resort will be a new flat cable, but the one I have works fine when connecting the router to the laptop directly... disconnecting that same cable from the laptop and connecting to the switch results in failure. Theres no comsistent connection light.... just a periodic flash. Thanks in advance.Solved3KViews0likes2Comments
