I just received my Netgear WN1000RP. The use of the item is supposed to be very simple. Unfortunately, it's not working correctly. I plugged it up, waited for it to be ready, pressed the WPS button; went to my router, pressed the WPS button. The Netgear genie website says the unit was connected. I can connect my devices to the WN1000RP, but it has no Internet service. I checked the Netgear Genie website, go through the Internet setup wizard, it says the WN1000RP is connected to my Internet wireless router, connection is strong and it's ready; but no devices have Internet access. I did a factory reset on the unit. Went through the setup process again. Connected my router; it said the device was ready— same issue; no Internet connection. The device says [from the website] it has a network connection. Tried firmware update; it failed saying no Internet connection. I can connect to the WN1000RP, but apparently it's not connecting to my [main] router properly and providing Internet service. Any thoughts?96KViews3likes2CommentsWireless turning itself off
Hi, I have searched for this on the forum already and, while other people are experiencing random loss of WiFi, none of their symptoms mach what I'm getting. I have a Netgear N150 Wireles Router WNR1000 v3 and firmware is up-to-date (Firmware Version V1.0.2.68_60.0.93). Once or twice a day we notice there is no network available and when I look at the lights on the front of the router, the blue 'wireless' and the green 'Push 'N' Connect' lights are off. I press the wireless button on top of the box (it is mounted vertically) and, as expected, they both come back on again. The router is turning off WiFi on its own. The ethernet network part is running fine all the time (sometimes I'm using the computers plugged in to port 3 The DSL modem is plugged into the Router WAN port using an Ethernet cable, my main PC is plugged into LAN1, a Linux box is pluged in to LAN2, LAN3 is unused and my phone/hub is on LAN4, which as far as I can tell is completely typical. and I never notice any interruption or degradation to these ports, just the wireless turning itself off. It is scheduled to turn off between 0:00 and 06:00. Has anybody else experienced this? I have tried a reset but it has not made any difference. Is this a known problem? Thanks in advance for your help on this!SolvedTrouble Connecting WN1000RP to Wireless-N150 ADSL2+Modem Router DGN1000
Just got the WN1000RP today to use in my house to extend wifi reception upstairs in bedroom, so, that we can use a new iPad there with good reception. This is to connect to my wifi network that uses the NetGear Wireless-N150 ADSL2+Modem Router DGN1000. I already setup the WPA-PSK password on the network and network works well. However, when I try connecting the WN1000RP to the network following Option 1 in the instruction booklet, by using the WPS feature on both devices, I see the network name NETGEAR_EXT instead of what the instructions say I should see which is my existing network name plus EXT at the end such as MarksNet_EXT, for example. I've tried pushing the WPS button on the WN1000RP, watching the green lights blink, then go to the Router and press the WPS button on it, and then go to my iPad to see what it shows in the wireless network list. I can 'connect to the NETGEAR_EXT network shown, but then it takes me to a blank screen and then a Apple.com log-in window pops up and asks for username and password....that doesn't seem right, either...and when I tried my Apple log-in info, it rejects it as incorrect.... I then tried Option 2 in the instructions and using my MacBook laptop and connecting with web browser...but it didn't take me to the setup page and when I typed in www.mywifiext.net in the browser, it took me to the NetGear support page.... Seems like there must be something, probably a simple step I'm missing here....but obviously, in the end, important in order to get this working. Tried moving WN1000RP to another outlet closer to Router but no change... Also, wonder if there's some issue with WPS on the Router as when I click the button, nothing lights up there light with the other items on the front panel that have a little green dot light under them lit up.... So, any suggestions? Appreciate it!!! Thanks, Mark31KViews0likes2Commentsthe server webpage.com:80 requires a username and password
The Indian lady on the phone was quite helpful, but we did not find a solution so far to this problem, so I am hoping somebody recognizes this problem  ----- Ever since installing the netgear wn100rp "repeater" about 2 weeks ago, my complete wireles internet connection stops working with this popup: the server webpage.com:80 requires a username and password. the server says NETGEAR WN1000RP This happens when I am NOT connected to the _ext (netgear), but when I am connected to my MAIN-wifi signal. The main-signal the WN1000rp is supposed to repeat. Not supposed to break. Setup: a wireless FON-spot that serves as WIFI-point (WPA secured). The netgear connects to the private signal on the FON. At any given time without (noticable) cause the wireless part of the entire system stops working. The wired part works! The solution so far: disconnect power to my modem (!) disconnect power to the fon, disconnect power to the netgear. Reconnect power to the modem, reconnect power to fon, wait till the fon has an IP address, connect laptop to fon, reconnect power to the netgear. NOW it works again. For an unknown amount of time. Till it suddenly stops again. I bought the repeater to WORK. Not to damage my systems and making it impossible to connect to the internet! My "solution" is ofcourse not a solution. I just noted, the webpage when connected to my main WIFI signal keeps refreshing http://www.somedomain.com/multi_login.html. It ofcourse never gets a webpage. Help? Anybody?26KViews0likes4CommentsFirmware update WN1000RP
Hi I bought and successfully installed the range extender on my existing network. When I logged into the _EXT router, the first page that came up was an update page asking if I wanted to upgrade the firmware as an update was available. I clicked yes, and the router went thru the download and install. It then disappeared as a network and refused to reconnect. After an hour, I switched it off, removed it from the power, then restarted. I now get a constant amber light on the status LED and no visible network. I have tried the factory reset but no flashing amber light, it just stays on. Please help, as I have no idea how to correct this problem! Many thanks!26KViews0likes19CommentsCan you modify the _EXT name?
Good Morning, I am new to the forums and hope I can word this question in a manner that everyone understands. I was able to install my WiFi Booster for Mobile WN1000RP with limited problems. I used option 2, using my IPhone. I now can see two networks one the regular name the other reg name + _EXT both of which are correct. The wifi via the original router is in the upper level of my house, (I have a three level split) the booster is in the middle level...all working well. However two of my wi fi pieces of hardware (e.g. cell phone and tablet) I would like to be able to roam around the house. I notice for instance that when using my tablet the best service is on the main level as that is where the booster is and it is picking up the _EXT network. But if I take it upstairs of course the signal is not as good because I am nearer the original router. Is there a way to modify the wireless network name, so that the hardware simply uses one network and draws the strongest signal from where the I am standing? Again I hope I have not made this too complicated. Thanking you in advance for your assistance. Lydia21KViews0likes6Commentsmultiple wifi extenders on one network?
Have installed one WN1000RP on home network that works fine but wanted to extend coverage to far corner of house. Purchased duplicate extender and when I try to use it the LED shows strong wifi signal until I try to connect a tablet or phone to it - when I try this, signal light goes from green to red. Is it possible to use two separate extenders on one network? Thanks for any info20KViews0likes4Commentscant connect to NETGEAR_EXT
hi i have purchased a netgear WN1000RP. i have a netgear router but no WPS key on the router so have to set up by connecting to the extender. we are unable to connect the extender at all from 3 laptops - all running windows 7, an ipad, an htc, an iphone! they all say cant connect or unable to join. tried to go to www.mywifiext.net and that doesnt connect either. the signal from the box is also somewhat intermittent - sometimes i can see it, sometimes not, but it wont connect anyway. interestingly it disappears from the network list on all pc's at the same time but can still be seen on mobile devices such as ipad. and now its gone completely. restarted - to no avail. .... at my wits end. anybody else had this issue? can you suggest anything? this was supposed to be an easy install!!!!20KViews0likes4CommentsWNR1000 as a base station or repeater issues
I have a WNDR 3300 that I have setup as a base station and I have tried to setup the WNR 1000 V3 as a repeater, but the repeater defaults to a unusual IP address that is well out of assigned range when repeater connects. I've tried to setup vice versa with the routers WNDR 3300 as repeater and WNR 1000 v3 as base station and still run into the same issue when connected to the repeater. I have researched several guides and entered all the applicable info that needs to be the same as the base stations as well as disabling the DHCP on the repeater.....nothing. I'm anxious to find out what I have done wrong.17KViews0likes3CommentsWNR1000 resets / loses connections every night at the same time
I've had this router for about a week. Each and every night, at exactly 3AM central time, the router drops all connections. Not only internet connections, but LAN connections as well. There is nothing in the log about this. Nothing about a reset, a reboot, anything. The connections drop (SSH windows disconnect, etc.), and can connect again almost immediately. (In other words, the router is only "down" for about 5-10 seconds.) I would not think that it's related to my ISP, since LAN connections are dropped as well. Please advise.17KViews0likes7Comments
