Hello, Whenever I try to update the Performance Optimization Database in the QoS, it says that it hasn't been updated, despite it from the end of 2015 (version 1.80,1.0.26 from 12/28/2015). My router has the most recent firmware update available, as shown in the picture. I had it set to automatically update before, so I didn't think about it too much. I updated my parents' R7000 to a newer firmware, and after I checked their QoS settings. They already had a newer version on the database, and when I hit the update button, their router was offered and even newer version (unfortunately, I don't have that version date or number notated). I started to research my issue when I came accross another thread about the same thing ( https://community.netgear.com/t5/Nighthawk-WiFi-Routers/R8000-QOS-how-do-you-set-new-applications/m-p/1244609#M51975 ) and the official response from ElaineM was that "We will be providing regular updates on the QoS database on our routers with Dynamic QoS" and "We will inform the community if it becomes available" on April 6th. I can't find any more recent info on this problem. Is the R8000 getting any more QoS Performance Optimization Database updates? Why is it currently not pulling down the current updates? When can we expect a solution to this issue? I love this router to an unreasonable degree (it helped me fix most of my network issues, has amazing Wi-Fi range, and very rarely needs any tinkering or reboots if any issues do arise), and would like to keep all aspects of it updated. Thank you for your help.Solved20KViews4likes30CommentsOrbi Wired Speeds Unacceptably Slow - Wifi Not Impacted - QoS Issues?
Ever since I have received my Orbi, I have been plauged with wired speed connection issues. My wired connection speed continues to be throttled from 10-20Mbps no matter what steps I take. My wireless speeds across all devices are not impacted at all and get a steady 120-145mbps on every device I can run a speed test on. I run Fast.com, Ookla, and Google's speedtest. Ironically, the Orbi speedtest in the QoS section shows a steady 140-150mbps when running. I have done the following steps to troubleshoot this issue: - Changed wired device I am testing. I have tested 2 laptops (one Toshiba, one Macbook Pro) and my desktop (specs below) - Changed modems (Motorola SB6180 and another from when the Cox tech came out) - Replaced all ethernet cords with new cords from a different source (running from the modem to the Orbi base station, then base station to wired device) - Updated my ethernet drivers (tried various versions, old and new, on both the Toshiba laptop and my desktop) - Factory reset my Orbi 6 times (using both software reset in UI and the paperclip method; twice on all three firmware Netgear has released since I received the Orbi) - Turned off MU-MIMO, Beamforming, WMM QoS, all at different times and in different orders - After running the first Orbi speedtest in the QoS section (after the 2nd firware update added it), I have applied AND not applied the Dynamic QoS prompt (Applying the setting gives me a slight boost in speed about 5mpbs) This is not my first go around with any sort of home networking, but this is definitely the most frustrating. I have never seen a router throttle wired speeds like this and it makes no sense to me why. The QoS page is sorely lacking of any possible information. How do I know it is turned on? Why does the Dynamic QoS prompt only come up a single time and never again? Where are the options to apply QoS to certain IPs/devices? At this point in time, I am 99.9% certain all my problems are stemming from the QoS settings of this router, which are apparently insanely aggressive for wired connections. I would love to hear from anyone that either has experienced these issues or has some sort of new idea to troublshoot. If any Netgear reps are reading, I would truly like to hear from you as what else I can provide in order to get this situated. I want to love the Orbi, but having slow wired speeds is absolutely unacceptable for my day to day experience. Please help me! Hi, I've got a r7000 which works well with the V1.0.5.60_1.1.86 firmware. I've a USB drive and a Buffalo NAS connected to it. I have been poking around the forums and came across a post which recommended to disable QoS since it impedes the "Broadcom Cut Through Forwarding feature". I can not find much about that feature so I was wondering why I need it to the extent that I should disable QoS? I have a 150 mbps down connection if that matters in this context. I'm not much of a gamer but I do stream media from the NAS all the time to computers and TVs, and then there's of course Netflix which runs on one or more devices at all times. Othewise the good 'ol Internet use on phones laptops and desktops. //CSolved17KViews0likes6CommentsEnable Upstream QoS (Optimized for Gaming) - "Qos bandwidth of Mbps should be 1 to undefined." error
Does anyone else have trouble trying to modify the "Enable Upstream QoS (Optimized for Gaming)" value from the QOS_main.htm page? It defaults to 512Kbps...which seems pretty low. If i change it to any value of Mbps i get an "Qos bandwidth of Mbps should be 1 to undefined." error. Thanks.Nighthawk R7000 -- WIRELESS speeds FASTER than wired speeds
Hi this is my first post here and it's a weird one for me. I've been running QoS for a while without issue but it seems like after an update and I'm not sure which one my Ethernet speeds have severely throttled. At first there wasn't a dynamic QoS and I went in and manually set what devices I wanted to have highest priority which was my game consoles since they also serve as multi media devices as well. For some strange reason my downloads are capped at no higher than 10Mbps and I get 100 from my ISP but on wifi it way faster. It wasn't always like this. So after a recent update I seen Dyanmic QoS and said let's try it and my Ethernet download speeds went up to normal like 80 on the console while upload stayed around 5 which is fine. All of a sudden My speeds tanked completely. Now I'm barely getting 10 down and 1 up. Should I just turn off QoS? I reverted back to advanced QoS for now because with dynamic on I couldn't join my brother in a pvp match. With advanced settings I'm able to only problem is my wired speeds get throttled a lot. I'm thinking either I turn QoS off or should I bother downgrading the firmware? I know I probably said too much but I'm just trying to be clear. Hope I was. Thanks for any replies.Solved7.9KViews0likes10CommentsCannot get network prioritisation to work properly (XR500)
Hi everyone, I recently bought a XR500 Nighthawk gaming router. I cannot however get the network traffic prioritisation to work properly. Sometimes it picks up game traffic (Blizzard launcher) but then it turns off when actually playing a game (World of Warcraft). Some games it doesn't even pick up at all (Battlefield 1, 2 & 3; Call of Duty: WWII). I've tried automatic by enabling the "DumaOS Classified Games" option via the associated checkbox. I've also tried adding devices/profiles but that doesn't seem to work either. I've also tried manually entering ports, but get an error message saying that they overlap with another profile. There are some prioritised packets but hardly any at all (~150 out of ~500k). I've also applied anti-bufferbloat and capped it at 75% for both upload and download. As far as bandwidth allocation goes, that's also at 75% for upload and download for my PC and 25% for upload and download assigned to my smartphone. I also have the geo-filter enabled, based in the UK and set to 1400km in filter mode (profile is for Call of Duty). My current setup network wise is I have a BT home hub 5 (an awful piece of equipment I know) setup as an access point. I have the XR500 WAN port connected to the BT router via a LAN socket. This setup will change in the future though when HyperOptic get back to me about why my 1Gbit/s fibre only has a download speed of 5Mbit/s. When that's sorted I'll put the HyperOptic router in modem mode and use that instead. Any help is much appreciated! If you need any more information then please feel free to ask. Thanks in advance!7.7KViews0likes34CommentsORBI RBR50 / QoS
Hi folks - bear with me if this is a duplicate, the search I did helped but did not isolate within forum. I am on firmware 1.12.0.18 - after installing manually. That was not fun as it was just out of the box and I was not quite ready for messing about. Anyway I headed over to QoS and in essence found it empty - speed test might be useful but not as the sole QoS entry. I want to QoS by device and by service (as my kids hog bandwidth whilst I am movie streaming or video conferencing) and that is one of the reasons I went for Orbi instead of other Whole Home systems - you know the more admin type functions that are advertised So simply put ... where will these be available please, otherwise I may as well use a cheaper solution that also does not have this function. Thank you - any input appreciated[R6220] How to modify an existing QoS rule?
I intend to change a QoS rule for a certain device. For example, change the priority from high to low for a device with MAC address as xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx. The rule with high priority already exists and therefore, if I add a new rule with low priority, I will get the error msg as "duplicated MAC address". And the old rule cannot be replaced by the new one. Any idea how can I erase the old one and set it as the new one? I only find the add button but no delete button.... Thanks in advance!Solved6.2KViews0likes5CommentsX4 R7500v2 New Firmware Rolls back QoS???
In the last couple of weeks I hit the firmware update button to check for anything new, and it installed 1.0.3.10. I thought cool. Then I went over to QoS and checked for an update there. It was running an update dated June 2016 - I did not however catch the version number. It downloaded an update and after, I checked, and the new version is dated April 2015. What the heck? I keep trying to update, but no joy. I did read some old thread about bad keys in the firmware causing problems with past QoS updates, so all I can guess is perhaps the new firmware had a problem too? Can one of you mods check into this please? I have no idea how to recover the previous 6/16 QoS version. ThanksSolved6.2KViews0likes17Comments
