Galaxy S8 keeps connecting Orbi wifi with message "internet may not be available" then logging off again but all other devices including iOs, TV and laptop can connect quite well. I'm using 1000M internet connection in Hong Kong with maximum speed around 450-550M in my other router - ASUS RT-AC68U. This Orbi only runs around 250M something. I'm very disappointed.Orbi Satellite RBS50 Not Connecting via Ethernet
Hello all! Our home is fairly large and was built by the Moravians (lots of stone), so we needed to connect the satellites via an ethernet cable. So recently I updated the Orbi RBR50, and RBS50's to firmware Version 2.1.2.18, which I was told makes them possible to connect via the ethernet. Now, one satellite is hooked up via the ethernet, but the other changes between the ethernet and 5G connection and gives significantly slower speeds. I've tried resetting it to factory settings and reinstalling the firmware. Is there still something wrong? Am I doing something wrong? Thanks so much ahead of time for all the help!SolvedRouter dropping connections
My rbr50 keeps dropping connections on my network. Multiple computers seeing the same thing, they just lose their connection to the network. This includes internet access and internal resources within my network. I've confirmed my internet is fine by plugging directly into my modem, it's just the connection to the router that is having problems. I've done a factory reset 3 times now and can't stay connected for more than about 30 seconds. I'm on the latest firmware. This is the second time I've gone through this. The previous time about three weeks ago I did a factory reset and it fixed the problem. No such luck this time.Question on creating multiple Wireless VLANs for Security (IoT devices, Family WiFi, Guest WiFi)
Hey Everyone, I'm in the process of re-doing (re-designing) my entire Home Network. I've decided to go the VLAN route for both Wired and Wireless devices. From a security standpoint, I would like to have all of my IoT / Smart Devices (Amazon Echo's, Ring Doorbell Pro, etc., bla bla) on their own Wireless VLAN. I would also like to have a Wireless VLAN just for visiting friends/family/guests. Lastly, I would like to have a Wireless VLAN for the members of my immediate household. Ideally, I would like to create a specific VLAN for both Wireless and Wired devices, for my immediate household that is. Here is what I currently have in terms of hardware: 1. - I have an Orbi RBR50 w/ 2x Satellites. From what I can see, the Orbi Router seems to only support basic VLAN tagging. However, the ORBI does allow for you to create a 'Guest WiFi' and restrict users from even seeing/interacting with each other and etc. As weird as it may seem, my CenturyLink Fiber Modem seems to have more options for VLAN Management than the Orbi. 2. - I have 2x ZyXEL switches, a GS1900-8 (8-Port) and a GS1900-24E (24-Port). According to their specs they support the following VLAN/QoS specs: Traffic Management and QoS • Port-based VLAN • IEEE 802.1Q VLAN tagging • IEEE 802.3ad LACP • Guest VLAN • Voice VLAN • Storm control • IEEE 802.1p priority queues per port • IEEE 802.1p Queuing method (scheduler) • Input priority mapping • Rate limiting per port (ingress/ egress) • IEEE 802.3x flow control So that said, since I would like to do some VLAN Magic as stated above, is there a way to do this with the my current hardware? Or do I need to purchase additional hardware like an Netgear Router or a little EdgeRouterX or something? Also, I'm trying to understand...since I'm using the Orbi RBR50 w/ Two Satellites...I'm not sure how I can create additional WiFi VLANs without adding additional APs or other equipment? Any thoughts and recommendations welcome!! BJRBS50 Disconnecting
My Orbi RBS50 (satellites) has been disconnecting consistently, it would disconnect and a few seconds later turn blue. Thinking that the issue would resolve itself, I've let it continue for about two weeks now. Then I took to the forums and tried everything: I've updated both the RBR50 and RBS50 to the current firmware (V2.1.3.4) I've factory reset the system - when option one failed I'm now about to toss it and find something else I don't know what might have caused these disconnections between the router and the satellites. The positions of the satellites have been the same for almost a year now. I've let the router and satellites auto-update - until now. Please help! I am a student and I'm taking a couple of online courses; on 4/4/2018 I've disconnected during one of my online exams, my heart sank to the deepest depths possible.Major Failures After Firmware 2.0.0.74 Upgrade!
ORBI firmware version 2.0.0.74 is failing! I have used the ORBI RBK50 system since Apr 2017. While running the 1.xx.xx firmware, the conection was incredibly reliable & fast. I had max speeds from all my devices: several PCs running Windows 10, & an iMac running Sierra (10.12)[High Sierra (10.13) since Sep 25th]. I had reliably uploaded/downloaded hundreds of GB of data each month. This included successful backups to Crashplan & later IDrive. I was very happy with my ORBI. On Oct 1st, I updated my firmware to version 2.0.0.74. By Oct 2nd, I began having significant connectivity problems. Since then, I have tried several suggestions from another thread but the failures continued. Today, I performed the following steps: Factory reset all devices (router & 2 satellites) Performed initial installation Changed satellite names to Satellite-1 & Satellite-2 Rebooted xfinity router Rebooted ORBI router Restarted IDrive backup The connection is still failing! I am lucky to backup a handful of files before IDrive reports a dropped connection! I am not happy. I feel NETGEAR caused this problem with the 2.0.0.74 update. I will be very pissed if I have to pay for premium support to solve this problem!SolvedOrbi RBR50 quit working
My Orbi RBR50 quite working. I did a factory reset and tried a new install. After scanning the QR code. The orbixx wifi network did not show up. Does this mean the hardware is defective or is it something I can fix. I purchase the Orbi rounter about a year ago. I don't know the firmware version. Can you Remote Desktop to Windows Server via Orbi RBR50 router?
Dear Community, I would be extremely grateful if a member could please answer this question and if it is possible please advise how to achieve. I have been struggling for two weeks and exhausted every avenue. I have a windows Server 2012 R2 that Id like to place on my home network and access away from home. I use an Orbi RBR50 with one additional satellite. The server is configured correctly for Remote Desktop as it was working when in a business location previously. I can also connect to the server using RDC locally through my LAN. I have enabled remote access in the advanced Orbi settings and configured port forwarding on port 3389 to the server on a static LAN address. I can see ports 80 and 3389 are open through a web checker and can ping the the WAN IP address revieving 4 packers back. However, when trying to RDC away from home RDC is unable to connect to the server login screen? Any ideas please? Shacksie70Firmware Upate 2.0.1.4
I’m currently on 2.1.2.18 on the RBR50/RBS50, and I see there is a firmware update on the support page showing version 2.0.1.4. That seems like it may be an older release, which makes me wonder if I should avoid installing it. Has anyone else installed it, or is this just for a specific issue?
