Range Extenders & Repeaters
43 TopicsNew Feature: ac1900 (Model EX7000) wifi range extender - M
Suggestion for a future firmware update is to add MAC filtering. I replaced a lower end prodcut with the AC1900 (Model EX7000). Performance is great. But I was shocked to realize that it does not support MAC filtering. This is such a basic capablity, I did not even think to check before purchase. This seems like a major design oversight for such a good product.12KViews0likes10CommentsKK Nayak Cairn India Business Development, Project Management (Operations)

Hi, My Nighthawk X6S EX8000 is configured as an Access Point. The thing I noticed is that in Access Point mode there is NO way to get into the Do More > Access Schedule - this field simply doesn’t exist end therefore I’m unable to Set Up an Access Schedule. Please add this feature as for someone who placed the device in the bedroom I don’t want the radios to be active during night time. Thanks in advance.7.7KViews0likes12CommentsFeature Request: AC1900 Wifi Extender - Add MAC Filtering
Suggest that for a future firmware update they add MAC filtering. For a product in this range, I am very surprised they do not support MAC filtering. I replaced a lower end product with the AC1900/Mode EX7000. Even the lower end WAP support MAC filtering. It is such a common capablity for this type of product, I did not even check. I was very disappointed to find it was not supported4.1KViews0likes0CommentsImprove handling of MAC adresses and IP-adress reservation in mesh network
Just added two of Netgear's Nighthawk mesh-extenders (a Nighthawk X4S and a Nighthawk X6S) to my network (a Nighthawk X6 R8000). Setting up the mesh, however, has a unexpected - and rather negative - impact on my system due to the method Netgear has implemented to establish the mesh: The trouble is, that if a device connects via one of the extenders, the system makes a new MAC-adress for the device instead of using the original (described under "I have enabled a wireless MAC filter" almost in the bottom at NETGEAR WiFi Range Extender FAQ). My WiFi is central in my home automation setup and a lot of automations are based on network status of distinct devices, identified by the devices MAC-adress and/or IP-adress (E.g. power to my printer is turned on, when my laptop is online at the WiFI and cut when the laptop is offline again). However, due to the nature of the mesh, my laptop can now take on the identity of three different devices: F4:8C:50:ED:1F:CF (connected to the router), 02:0F:B5:ED:1F:CF (connected to the X6S), and 92:3B:AD:ED:1F:CF (connected to the X4S). Consequently, all automations in the system need to be adapted to be able to identify three different devices as the same. A possible solution could be to identify the device by IP-adress. However, due to the fact that IP-adress reservation on the router is based on the MAC-adress, this is in fact not possible, as the translation of the MAC-adress directly leads to the assignment of a new IP-adress to the device in question (when moved around in the mesh). Further, it seems like the translation of the MAC-adress interferes with functionality of various "smart home" services/devices connected to cloud-services. E.g., I have found the MAC-adress translation to effectively disrupt communication with devices from Ring, (Ring Video Doorbell) , that when devices from Miele (my dishwasher, my washing machine and my tumbledrier) are3.3KViews0likes2CommentsDisabling Leds on EX3700 / EX3800 / EX3920
Dear Developers, I would to request if possible, on future firmware updates, an option to disable leds when the repeater is working, mainly because these products are used for home use, and I used it on my bedroom, leaving the annoying lights on all night time long leaving no change that to plug out of the socket, which get discomfort. Also on WIFI schedule, is true that WIFI network is disabled but not SSDI transmit, leaving the SSDID on but no internet, is it possible somehow to disable also SSDI? Thanks3.2KViews1like2Comments
