Remote Access
4 TopicsR8000 no longer connects remotely with Genie app after latest firmware
The Genie app was finally working the way it was supposed with pausing connections, etc but then I went an upgraded to the latest firmware and its hosed up Genie. It shows two routers now, one with a serial and one without. I can't connect to the one with the serial number anymore. The second one lists as R8000 (N/A) and doesn't allow remote access. Anybody have any idea what happened here? It's like the firmware upgrade created a duplicate router entry in Netgears DB and they don't match anymore. I apologize if this is asked and answered somewhere in this maze of a website, but I have been going in circles for 30 minutes trying to find the simplest of answers: how? The other day, I was at work and the router needed rebooting. No one was home except for my wife and she didn't know how to do it. Finally, in desperation, I told her just to unplug the thing, wait 30 seconds or so, and plug it back in. When I dowloaded Genie, I saw something about "Access your router from anywhere". So I thought it might be a good idea to learn how to do it, in case we had another problem and I was at work, I would know exactly what to do. So tonight I came here to do a little research. Little is the key word, because I can find precious little information on how to do it. I can't even find the freaking login page, I don't know if there is a login page, or if I'm supposed to access my router from the Genie program. So, I'm asking that someone give me a "Remote Access For Dummies" lesson. I have a laptop computer, Windows 10, with Netgear Genie installed on it. Obviously, I have created a Netgear account, or I wouldn't be typing this right now. Also, if I can do this on my phone, I do have the Netgear Genie installed on it as well. It is an Android phone, an LG G4 to be exact. Anyone who would like to tackle this, or at least point me in the right direction would be my hero. Thank you.Solved6.7KViews0likes2CommentsR7000 remote device not showing up in iOS Mobile Netgear Genie App
I have been using the Netgear Genie App to control my router from my iPhone 6 for a couple months. It worked great! I have an account, I was able to use Network Map to block/open wifi on my devices at home. Then, a few weeks ago, it just wouldn't show up anymore in my Remote Devices when I log into my Remote Access. I have upgraded my router, upgraded my NetGear Genie on my desktop. My iOS app seems to have been updated automatically if it was needed. I really do not know what else to do.Solved6.2KViews0likes4Comments
