I’ve never had a problem with this or any router for more than an hour. After we had a storm, and the power went off, the modem restarted, but the router didn’t. Instead it shows the power light as a solid red light. I’ve tried resetting the router, and power cycling it, but nothing has worked. I also switched my Ethernet cable, and that also didn’t work.831Views0likes1CommentPCI Requirement - Port 443
Nighthawk AC2300, RS400 Friends that own a small shop were notified by the credit card clearing house that they needed to close port 443. There are 3 users and each station has a credit card machine. the stations are plugged into a Netgear switch (which plugs into the router). Will turning off this port 443 cause other issues? Is it possible on the nighthawk? Suggestions? Thanks. Darryl1KViews0likes2Comments802.11k / 902.11r extender which roams
Hi, we have been trying the Netgear AC1900 EX7000 model extenders, we find the range excellent on them. The problem we have is we need to put extenders onto an indoor vehicle, however the extenders need to roam. we are finding this diffecult to find. The extender needs to collect signal in 2.4 then connect to the APs in 5, hence why we like the fast lane on these. We tried the AC1900 EX7000 Nighthawk Wifi Extender Netgear model, and found the fast lane excellent, and also the range, however they do not roam, and stick to one AP, they will only go onto a different AP once the signal is 0. We are looking for 802.11r / 802.11k Is there a flash available for these extenders we could apply? Or do Netgear have a different extender we could test? I did come across this model, would this work for us? Nighthawk R8500 V1.0.2.106 Hi, Bougth NightHawk X8 R8500 a week ago. Did all I wanted to for a week. Suddenly iphone cannot connect, wants me to reenter 5Ghz-ssid password, again and again. 2.4Ghz not visible anymore. Restarted the router. Now it seems 5GHz is working, also at the right speed. 2.4GHz is unreliable, sometimes it works, sometimes iphone needs password, sometimes "no internet connection", speeds if working 1.17 Mbps down, was 81.27 Mpps at some point last week (speedtest app iphone). 5Ghz speeds are usually between 180-200. My network: Lan with 2 extra switches, DS1812 NAS, 2 window pcs Wireless: various 2.4Ghz devices (philips hue, homewizard domotica,2 chromecasts, logitech ultimate hub) No fiddling with any settings between happy and deplorable. What could it be?Solved2.1KViews0likes5CommentsR7000 not allowing VPN to reach internet
Have a question about VPN (not the NetGear VPN, but my business VPN. I work from home for government contractor and have had USAF VPN for over 5 yrs with no issues from my home. Last week the gov issued me a new laptop with Windows 10. Everything works great using normal internet through my NetGear Router R7000, I can access Google, FedEx, anything..... until I try using the USAF VPN. I can log onto the VPN with no issues, the VPN states I am connected. But I get no connection to internet where I need to go to Military Web pages. I have not had this issue before with other laptop. I also have a personal laptop and no issues with it (do not use VPN though....but do use same router). All worked fine until last week when my laptop got replaced. The VPN will work anywhere but at my home (even tried McDonalds wifi to get USAF VPN access and it worked). It seems that my NetGear Router is blocking somehow. (I have COX internet and called their Help desk and the guy said the same thing, it has to do with the router and issues multiple IP address's from COX 1 IP address to Modem). I have searched the community board, but can make out anything useful I can understand anyway. Can someone provide any assistance? Or any direction I need to go? I've almost just thought about getting new router (this is about 3 years old).Solved5.7KViews0likes4CommentsNetgear Night Hawk R8000-vlan guest network
Hi, I realize we might be trying to inappropriately use a home product here :-) I've got a Night Hawk R8000 AC3200 Tri-band router that's running in access point mode. I would like the guest network to use 802.1q tagged vlans. The appropriate menu on the access point setup is grayed out: VLAN/IPTV setup. Per this article here, it's the expected behavior: https://kb.netgear.com/26765/Disabled-Features-on-the-Router-when-set-to-AP-Mode Is there any workaround for this?Solved5.3KViews0likes2CommentsHow to log into your router and not the cable modem, both uses NETGEAR genie
I have a NETGEAR cable modem (AC1900- C7000). Just bought NETGEAR wireless router NIGHTHAWK X8 (AC5300). Every time I try to log into the router using the instructions (routerlogin.net) it takes me to the cable modem (AC1900) and not the router where I need to upadate the firmware. How can I log into the router and modem separate? using routerlogin.net it always takes me to the cable modem??? I'm confused, Appreciate any helpSolved4.3KViews0likes2CommentsConfused about setting up Port Aggregation
Hi, I just got a new S8000 switch that I wish to connect to my R9000 and use Port Aggregation. I am a bit confused though. Maybe someone can help. My goal: 1. Connect my switch to my router to use Port Aggregation on ports 7&8. Will this then replace the normal cable thT goes from the router to port 8 and act as the internet connection? 2. Freeze the IP address on the switch. Do I have to go through the process in the manual or can I just set it with the router? 3. Here is the hard part. I have two Drobo B810ns. The instructions are a bit vague so I'm not really sure I even have to setup Port Aggregation as the devices come with two Ethernet cable connections and the way the manual reads it looks as if I can set this on the device alone with a formal setup on the router and or switch. 4. Lastly, how can I go about linking both Drobos if the router only allows Ports 1&2 for link Aggregation? Thanks HerbertSolved9.8KViews0likes9CommentsChanging a wifi signal
I am using a Netgear R6400 Pretty simple, I have a cable box in my house that has wifi. Lets call that Wifi "HOUSE". Then I ran a cat6 out to the back, which is an office, Let's call that WiFi "OFFICE". So same network in house as the office. Easier being on the same NETWORK, for internet, Shared Drives, & Surveillance gear. I put the netgear R6400 in my office and that puts me on two differnet networks. Can I make the R6400 the same network as the Cable companies WiFi modem in the house. This way, If I'm in the house or the back office I will still be connected to the same network. Can this be done?? If NOT, is their a WiFi Router that Netgear makes, or is there something I can do??? Thank youSolved
