Hello everyone. This is my first post on here. I've had this ReadyNAS since November 2014 with no problems, but yesterday after I saw the email for needing to migrate the readycloud service to mynetgear, I logged in to the web admin and updated the firmware on the 102 to the 6.4.1 firmware and when it rebooted, I couldn't access my volumes. I tried to do a USB recovery (I'm running OS X, so I can't run the recovery tool) and that seemed to work after I loaded onto a second USB drive (the first one wouldn't work). However, after I started the 102 back up, the power light just started blinking...and blinking...and blinking. Then, I tried to do the OS reload, but the buttons are completely non-responive. Double clicking the power button won't shutdown the NAS. Pulling the plug from the NAS and holding the reset button doesn't allow me to cycle through the setting either. Once the 102 starts up, all the lights light up, and the power button starts blinking again and releasing the reset and pushing the backup button, like the intructions for doing an OS reload say, don't let me cycle through the different boot menu options. Oddly enough, yesterday and early this morning, I was able to at least SEE the NAS in RAIDar and even the firmware version in the readycloud web dashboard, but this evening I can't even do that. At one point, it was even allowing me to mount the SMB shares on my desktop, but with no visible data, of course. Now, it won't allow me to do that either. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!Solved25KViews0likes17CommentsReadyNAS 102 – Blue light blinking, no boot
My ReadyNAS 102 has been working with an issue for a few years. I tried to connect recently and it wouldn't let me. I tried to reboot and it wouldn't so I pulled the power. Now it won't boot up (blue light blinking) so I removed the two drives and tried to reboot just the chassis and again just a blue blinking light. I'm on Mac 10.11.5 and honestly I'm not sure about the firmware version on the Netgear – I haven't manually updated in a while and I can't remeber if it's on auto update! Any ideas on what may be amiss or how to resolve? Thanks. Edit: I managed to connect to it without drives in via RAIDar – light still flashing but now I know the firmware is 6.5.1.Solved17KViews0likes23CommentsData Degraded but Volumes are fine?
Hi there, I've had a ReadyNAS 314 taking care of my Time Machine backups for around 2 years now with no problems. Currently, the ReadyNAS LED is flashing "data ; Degraded" so I had a look inside the ReadyCloud admin page which confirms the yellow degraded status. However, when I look at the 'Volumes' tab, every volume is green indicating there doesn't seem to be any problem: http://screencast.com/t/KrBKNex3uy5R I'm a bit confused - is there a step I should take now? Or is this just a heads up that I'll most likely soon need to buy new drive/s? Sorry if this is a noob question. AdamSolved16KViews0likes11CommentsMacOS Mojave 10.14 issues with AFP
Folks, I've been using my RN316 (latest firmware update) for years with my MacBook Pro. I have shares configured to both AFP and SMB file protocols. Both are set up for read/write access. Prior to upgrading to MacOS Mojave this week, i could succesfully mount either an AFP or SMB share on my MacBook Pro, access files on the RN316 with my Microsoft Office Word or Excel and save without issue. After my Mojave update, i find that AFP is causing aggevating lockups in my MacBookPro, iffy loads and virtually nil saves back to the RN316. I seem to recall that this happened several years ago with another MacOS update and that it finally cured itself with a ReadyNas firmware update. Has anyone experienced this problem???15KViews0likes13CommentsC6300 DNS issue
Modem-router worked perfectly for nine months, until I (unwisely, it turns out) decided to turn it off for a month when I went out of town. When I came back and turned it back on, I found the modem was still getting a signal from the ISP (all lights solid), and the computer (Mac) was still getting a signal from the router (both via ethernet cable and wifi), but the computer was unable to access the internet. Multiple reboots of all components, resetting modem -- nothing helped. Finally I discovered that running a ping test with an IP address was successful, but doing the same with a domain name failed. Hence likely a DNS issue in the modem. Any ideas, suggestions? (A different modem works fine with the same ISP and computer, so the problem is in the Netgear modem.)13KViews0likes9CommentsNeed to restore from Time Machine but it can't find it!
I have a ReadyNas Duo V2 running on my home LAN for Time Machine with iMac. Two HDD 2TB are installed; perfectly OK. about 800 GB is in use (this is because of my Time Machine iMac backup). Now I try to restore the complete backup after installing a new HDD in my iMac. Via CMD R I get the restore option from Time Machine. When I select this option I get a menu with Username: Root and a Password option. I don't know this password and I don't understand why the username is auto filled with root? If I change it to admin and use my password it will not help. Via finder I can access the NAS and I can see the shared folders. I am not able to locate the sparse bundle. If I start Time Machine I get the timeline. So something is there. What steps do I have to take to restore my backup? I am able to access my Netgear NAS and login as admin. I've setup the Time Machine many years ago and I know the username and password. I'll hope someone is able to give me the right hints so I am able to restore my backup. From my previous post: I have purchased another seagate 2tb drive and was able to install the os the drive from disc 1 slot. So I have eliminated that the controller for the Duo has gone bad. I have one of the old discs in currently and it tells me that there is a Corrupt Root. I did some searching and found that I might be able to fix this with an OS Reinstall. I shutdown the Duo, held in the reset button, pressed the power button, released the power button, waitied for both disc LEDs to flash 1 time, released the reset button. Now all 5 LEDS are flashing at me in this pattern: 3 slow blinks, followed by 3 rapid blinks. This is power, disc 1 and 2, activity and the led over the backup button. Is the OS being reinstalled? How can I tell if the OS is being installed? How long does that usually take? The Duo has been like this for 20 minutes now. I will leave it for another 40 minutes. UPDATE: the power button is not blinking in the same pattern anymore it is simply blinking. The other 4 green LEDS are still blinking in 3 slow blinks 3 rapid blinks. Thank you12KViews0likes31Comments
