The first issue is universal with all Netgear products. Netgear's MAC address uses two slightly different size zeroes which make you think the larger, rounder one must be an "O." I spent an uncomfortable hour on the phone with Xfinity trying to get my new AF2700 activated with them because we had the wrong MAC address, Please use the european way of writing a slashed zero to avoid this headache (accompanied by swear words) of distinguishing the zero fram an "O". Secondly, the AF2700 (CAx30) established a new network in my Win 10 pc that worked fine for all purposes except it would not allow me to play my online golf game using direct connect even though I had properly set up the required ports to be forwarded. The second day of expert assistance with this issue discovered the router had unknowingly created a public network which my game does not allow for direct connect play. Is that what is supposed to be the default network when you install a Netgear cable modem router these days? Of course not! For any number of reasons, mostly involving privacy and security, the default should be a private network. Make it so.Solved156Views0likes8CommentsI have a Netgear CAX30 wifi cable modem router. Reset button does not reset the admin password.
I try the reset through 3 time failed passowd input, with device SN typed in , but my security questions's answer seems not right. I used the paper clipper pin to hold the reset botton for more than 15 sec, but after the modem online again. on routerlogin.net page, I typed passord for admin, it still shows the passord is wrong for admin. any further sugeestions to reset the password for admin? I just got a new laptop with an Intel Wi-Fi 6E AX211 160MHz wireless card. I cannot get beyond 1201 Mbps, which is the same speed my previous laptop hit. Is there something I could have setup incorrectly? The fastest wireless speed the modem lists is 1801 Mpbs for the 5gz band. It's not that my internet is necessarily slow. I just thought it would connect faster because my previous laptop had an older wifi card. I'm sorry I'm just not very knowledgeable about this sort of stuff. I know the guide to my CAX30 says it's capable of up to 2.7Gbps, though I never figured I'd hit that. Thanks for any advice/info.Solved501Views0likes3CommentsCAX30 - 2.4 wifi bad /5ghz good?
Not sure what's going on but all of a sudden the router won't allow connection via wifi 2.4 but does connect on 5 ghz. Reset the router to factory specs - I'm using xfinity service On several devices (phones, computers) - I told the devices to forget the 2.4 connection - upon refresh the 2.4 connection doesn't show anymore but the 5 Ghz is available and allows connection. Unfortunately my Ring Security system works only on 2.4 ghz among other older devices I have and without a 2.4 connection leaves many devices useless. I went to total reset to factory specs to make sure no other settings were interfering with the 2.4 radio. Upon restart and even though the 2.4.light on the modem is flickering as it normally does there was no mention of my 2.4 connection on any of my devices - only the 5ghz showed and allowed connections. Running Firmware Version V2.2.4.2 The modem/router has been working properly for months using this firmware. I would think that reverting to an earlier firmware wouldn't change things since a factory reset didn't change anything. Thoughts?824Views0likes6CommentsI cannot login routerlogin.net
I have a simillar problem on cax 30 with latest firmaware. I cannot login routerlogin.net. When after attempting hundreds of login attempts I can get in. Once i get in if i try to make some changes, I might lose connection in middle of the setup and will not be able to login again ! It is very frustrating. I was not expecting a poor software on a 400$ router.289Views0likes3Comments2.4 network not found, 5 network is working on a CAX30 modem/router.
I just purchased a CAX30 in December to avoid the new $10 from Spectrum. It had been working without any issues until yesterday when I got home and about 95% of my home has no connectivity to my network on the 2.4 GHz band. Every device that we have is on the older side, which is why they are (were???) connected to this network. My newer devices that can work on the 5 GHz network are connected without any issues and at normal speeds. All the lights on the modem/router are turned on and showing that there is activity. I am using the latest firmware for the modem/router. I did try a full factory reset just to see if that would work but nothing. I have also tried just for fun to enable the guest network under the 2.4 GHz band and it doesn't show up on my list of available networks, but, as soon as I enabled the 5 GHz guest network, that showed up on my list of networks almost instantaneously. I have also tried to separate the networks, combine the networks using the smart connect feature but nothing seems to work. Every change that I have tried fails to pick up the 2.4 GHz network. Also, I'm using the tag for the CAX30s even though my equipment is the regular one without the "S" at the end.400Views0likes3Comments
