Hello, Management->IP->LAN->Genaral: DHCP disabled, static IP given. 802.1Q: Untagged VLAN [X] = 4000 (bit bucket) Management VLAN: 3000 Wireless->SSIDs 4 SSIDs, on VLANs 500,600,700,800, named the same as VLAN for testing purposes. All are set to "Addressing and Traffic: bridged" Defaults for everything else. VLAN 500 is the only problem. The differences in config are: Captive Portal: "Click Through" Wireless Client Isolation: Enabled On my router I see a DHCP request (tcpdump) coming from that VLAN, the MAC of which is the same as the main ethernet interface of the AP. Lease is provided by the router in the expected DHCP range. My question is - where is this DHCP request coming from and why? How do I disable it? Thanks, and let me know if you need any more information.24Views0likes2CommentsGS1xxE and their PoE equivalents. Getting them an IP using DHCP on a specific vlan.
Hello to anyone taking the time to read this. I have close to a dozen netgear GS1xxE switches at my home and various family member's homes by now and swear by the things. Vlan tagging is a must for our various setups and these switches haven't disapointed yet. However , when it comes to configuring them, the fact one is incapable of selecting the vlan on which the things do their DHCP negotiating forces me to use fixed IP's. In essence this isn't all that bad. But adding this to the firmware isn't something unreasonable to ask I would think. http://i.imgur.com/JZEvBx4.png http://i.imgur.com/p9evrYY.png Thanks in advance for taking the time to reply. If you also think this slight oversight should be rectified please do reply.70KViews21likes16CommentsDHCP - Need to release IP addresses
Hi, I want a "release" function on UTM50 as it is in many other routers. We often do a lot of test on PDA's and tablets and the IP addresses is not enough. The test itself take maybe 15 minutes and then we take one more units and so on (we also have 5 to 10 units at the same time). The standard lease is 24 h and we have lowered it to 1 h but that is not enough for us. A simple release function should do the trick, then we can release the units we want or just release all. This function is on a lot of routers today.15KViews4likes1CommentDHCP Snooping Block DNS Packet
Hi, I've just encounter an issue with my GS724TPv2. As soon as I enabled the DHCP Snooping mode, I cant make dns resolving. Trusted Inferfaces are ok, and I retrieve an Ip from my dhcp server (which is the same as my dns server). I can ping, go to web servers (with their ips). If I turn off DHCP snooping mode, it works again (mac address validation didnts seem to have an impact), I can see my computer informations in the dynamic binding configuration screen. I have 3 724tp connected with LACP, i tried with one switch alone, no results I have DHCP snooping/filtering set up on my other switches (GS724T no POE) and I dont have this issue. If anyone has an idea (misconfiguration, bug,...) ? Thanks a lotSolved4.5KViews0likes8CommentsFVS336Gv3 - How to connect to IPoE and get dynamic address?
I have a Netgear FVS336Gv3 dual-WAN router. I am trying to configure it to connect via a bridge-mode Actiontec T3200 modem (Windstream DSL). Windstream informs me that this connection uses IPoE instead of PPPoE, and instructed me to configure the router in dynamic (DHCP) mode. For some reason, the router does not get a public IP address assigned to the WAN port when connected to this modem. I tested by connecting my laptop directly to the T3200 and the laptop is immediately assigned a public IP address (NOT a private address) and can access the internet. I have a Spectrum Business modem connected to the other WAN port of this router, and it obtains an address and works fine. Any guidance is appreciated.Solved8.3KViews0likes4CommentsDHCP server ip pool limit on ProSafe M4100
Hi, I'm trying out the DHCP server feature on the Prosafe M4100-26-POE. After reading the guide, I successfully created a IP pool. However I can't create more than 15 reserverations. Tried both web UI and CLI. Is this the hard limit for the switch? Seems kind of low. (M4100-26G-POE) #configure (M4100-26G-POE) (Config)#ip dhcp pool static_host_16 Couldn't create DHCP pool.2.6KViews0likes5CommentsDHCP not traversing switch Part 2
Hi, Unfortunatly I have a follow up issue to my last issue here. This time however only the Netgear is involved. I have performed various tests already and it boild down to that the S3300 does not seem to pass on DHCP traffic at all at the moment. Test setup: I have a box A on Port 12 and a box B on Port 13. On B there is a dhcp server active and tcpdump on 67/68 udp. I start a dhcp request on box a connected via Netgear switch - I don't see any requests. On Box A I can see the requests being sent out with wireshark, but o/c no replies. A static IP on Box A results ins perfectly fine communication, no issues. Now I used another switch (cheap 8 port) and attached box A and B to it and with that switch DHCP is working fine, tcpdump listing everything. Both boxes are on VLAN 1, no security features active, no helper, relay or anything. S3300 (stack of 2) is on latest FW (6.6.4.7) but I think the issue was present before. I noticed weird behaviour for about 2 weeks but can't really tell what I could have changed to cause this :( Lost again :(Solved17KViews0likes17CommentsDHCP through GS108Tv2
Dear community, I am running into a problem with DHCP in my home network. My DHCP server is a Fritz!Box 7490. Several devices are connected through a GS108T. It seems that devices connected through the switch do not receive an IP address via DHCP. The GS108T itself is receiving its IP via DHCP, however. Has anybody already come across this or does maybe know a solution to get the DHCP traffic through the switch? I do not Use different VLANs or alike. Thanks for your help. ldh2002Solved4.2KViews0likes2CommentsDHCP Response not traversing stacked switches
Hi, hopefully only another user error, but at the moment I am out of ideas again. I have 2 S3300's (FW 6.6.17) [A1,A2] connected via stacking in 2 different rooms. On one of the 10G Ports another switch (B) is connected via Trunk, on that switch a bunch of boxes are connected. I have issues getting DHCP to work over the two stacked switches, all regular traffic (non broadcast i suppose fine). Local DHCP within Switch B is working fine, as is DHCP only using A1 (have not tested "A2 only"), but not the routes "Client ->A1->A2->B" or "Client->B->A2->A1". I can see DHCP Offers cross the line reaching my DHCP servers (one 2012 DHCP, one linux based one) on each room, but no actual DHCP replies get sent back. I have one client and one Server in A1, one Client and one Server in B (VMs) I have setup port mirroring on the uplink port 1/28 (which is on A2 and connected to Switch B) and capture DCHP Requests from B->A1, but the DHCP Server on A1 does not see them. I have set up a client on A1 requesting from B and can see requests arriving on B but the answer never arrives back at A1 So basically traffic flows as follows: Client (in either room) sends out DCHP request, this get received by DHCP server in other room. DHCP Server replies with OFFER, but OFFER never reaches Client. I used wireshark/tcpdump/port mirroring to verify this behaviour but can't really explain it :( Easiest would be to break the stack and just link them via trunk but that can't be it... Any idea how to troubleshoot this? ThanksSolved8.9KViews0likes13CommentsDHCP Host
I see that the switch can be a DHCP client, but can it be a DHCP host? I want to create a standalone network and don't want to have to add an additional device just to do DHCP assignments. (Yes, I know I can use a cheap RasPi, That also eats a port). I want to be able to have 8 laptops connect and the switch serve up IP addresses for them.Solved5.7KViews0likes2Comments
