Recently I asked the forums if there it's any way that I could set up my external Western Digital connected via USB to my NETGEAR X10 router to hybernate or sleep, while PLEX or other proceses from him are not used. My HDD is a little bit noisy and I can hear it all day and all night spinning in my room. So the answer is NO, there is no way to set this, to a schedule or, simply activate the HDD only when Plex client App is turned on. I hope this will be implemented in the near future.9.6KViews0likes0CommentsRN102 3 out of 4 hard drives failed in 2 years
Hi All, New to the communities, but I've had the RN102 (purchased from NETGEAR on Amazon with 2 3TB Seagate (ST3000DM001) drives) since about mid 2013. Long story short, I hadn't set up the notification alerts correctly on the NAS, and, about mid 2014 both drives had failed. After much back and forth with NETGEAR Tech Support, they sent me two new drives (also ST3000DM001), and I had to send the failed drives to Seagate Recovery Services (they recovered the data for quite a pretty penny!). Flash forward to mid 2015, and one of the replacement drives has failed. I'm pretty disgusted. My questions - Are these Seagate drives just garbage? Is this typical behavior for them? Should I get something like a WD Red drive instead? Or, is there something wrong with my NAS that it keeps assassinating hard drives? I bought this because I thought it would be a relatively stable place to store files, but it's been the least stable hdd based storage device that I've ever owned! I would appreciate any thoughts or reccommendations! DonSolvedProblem umount volume after one disk failure on RNDU2000 #27445297
Hello Netgear Community!!! First, I apologize for my english (I'm french). I've got a problem on my ReadyNAS Ultra 2 (2 * 2 terabyte) sync on X-RAID to mirroring my datas between my 2 HDD. A few days ago, one HDD has failed. Later, unable to connect to nas shares. I immediatly look at the logs and I see : "The paths for the shares listed below could not be found. Typically, this occurs when the readyNAS is unable to access the data volume. .....<list of the shares>....". I then go in the volume management menu and I see an other pop-up error who accurate no volume is mounted. I decide to connect through SSH. When I list disk partitions (fdisk -l), I note that the partition that contains the datas is not present. I've tried to mount many partitions that I see into /dev without success. My questions are : - Is there someone who has had this problem or almost the same ? - How to solve it ? - Is it possible to read X-RAID disk on ubuntu system, GParted or other linux distribution ? I think it's a firmware problem when the nas mounting volumes, or a security of its system (X-RAID) that stop the mounting of volumes as the failed HDD has not be changed. My readynas contains 12 years of family pics, personal documents and working files, so I will be disappointed to have lost everything. Thank's a lot If you have the solution !!! Hi all, with firmware 6.2.2 drive spindown works as expected. Drives are stopping after 20 minutes and remain stopped until NAS is accessed from any computer. With newer firmware (6.2.3, 6.2.4, not tested 6.4.0) they spin down too but start again after some seconds. After some hours without any changes I went back to 6.2.2 and everything was ok. Is there a solution to this problem? Is it solved with 6.4.0 (because downgrade is not possible)? My NAS is the RN-102 and the hard drives are two Toshiba DT01ABA300.3.1KViews0likes5CommentsFile Permissions Messed Up After HDD Change On PC
Hey Guys I have an issue with my ReadyNAS Ultra 4 Plus (4.2.30), where I cannot copy anything to any of the directories on it, or delete, move any files. The only thing I can do is copy files from the ReadyNas to my PC, but nothing else. This seemed to have occured after I upgraded the HDD on my PC to an SSD and clean installed Windows 7. How the hell do I get back my permissions? I've searched and everything I read makes my brain melt. So much so I gave up three months ago and have only just got round to checking on this issue again. Has anyone had this issue who knows how to recify this nifghtmare? I need to take back ownership of these files.Solved3KViews0likes2CommentsDifferent size HDDs in RN204
Hi, I have recently bought an RN204 NAS with 2x 3TB HDDs and wanted to expand this (2 bays are empty). Currently it is set up in RAID format (although I'm not sure what setting - X-RAID/RAID5 etc) But I wanted to know if I go and buy 2x 6TB HDDs for example, would that give me a total of 9TB space and would I have to do any tinkering? Thanks in advance!Solved2.9KViews0likes2CommentsReplace with a new bigger hdd
