33 TopicsBad iOS/Apple Connectivity (solved) and Slow Speeds - Orbi RBR40 - FW v 1.10.1.2
I have owned the Orbi RBR40 home wifi system for approximately 3 weeks. Within the first 30 seconds of being connected I ran a speed test and it showed 150mbps up/down immediately after a ran a subsequent speed test which showed 20 mbps up/down. Since then, all speedtests across all wireless devices run between 5 mbps and 30 mbps up/down. Averaging about 20 mbps. Furthermore it seems like all of my apple devices that were not connected to the wireless network the very first time the Orbi was plugged in were unable to connect to the Orbi system when it was in router mode. I reset the Orbi, changed the SSID, tried connecting to a guest network, and toggled every single setting in order to resolve the issue. Finally, upon consulting these message boards, I took the advice here: https://community.netgear.com/t5/Orbi/FINALLY-got-the-ORBI-not-to-drop-connection/td-p/1223334 and changed my Orbi from Router to AP mode and these apple devices finally connected. At this point I guess I am comfortable not using the Router functions of the Orbi device, but this is still disappointing. Even after getting the apple devices to connect, I am still averaging about 20 mbps up/down accross my wireless devices. My average speeds are as follows: Wired Straight to ATT Fiber Router: avg 800 mbps up/down, peak around 960 mbps Wired Straight to Orbi Main Hub: avg. 600 mbps up, 750 mbps down , peak around 700 mbps up and 900 mbps down Wired Straight to Orbi Satellite: avg. 200 up/down, peak around 300 mbps up/down Wireless Avg: 20 mbps up/down, peak around 30 mbps up/down I think that the loss between Router and main hub is expected (actually probably pretty good) The loss from Hub to Satellite seems a little extreme, but I would reluctantly believe that this is normal The loss from hub/satellite to wireless device cannot be right and I don't know what the cause is. Again, I have toggled every setting on these devices and performed a Wireless Analysis on Mac to determine their suggested channels (2.4: 6,2; 5.4: 44). I am currently running 2.4 on channel 2 and 5.4 on channel 44, though I have toggled through all of them and havent noticed any significant difference. The wireless functionality on my ATT modem/router combo is disabled including all broadcasting functionality Also, i have enabled Beamforming and MUMIMO but don't notice any difference one way or another on the effect on speed. Finally, I initially purchased a router/1 satellite system and installed this, but was not getting the signal strength throughout my house. I acknowledge that this was my fault because I intentionally placed the satellite in an unrecommended location. Since then I purchased a third satellite and placed it in across the house from my router and dropped the power on each band down to 25%. I have a smaller house and was interested in getting the "hardwired" satellite functionality in my home office (close to the router). My speed issues existed prior to adding the additional satellite and since. Even with the power cut to 25% I get strong coverage throughout my home and at a consistent average speed of 20 mbps up/down. Just to make sure interference was not my problem i have run tests of each satellite independently and the router alone. Still looking at 20 mpbs up/down. If there are any suggestions on how to regain some of my speed I would greatly appreciate hearing them.Best WiFi Signal Strength Analyzer App for iPhone 6 or Mac
I see there is a signal strength analyzer for Android, but cannot find one in the Apple App store. I just want to see if it is worth getting the N300 WiFi Range Extender, since the Master BedRoom (on the far side of the apartment from the C3000 modem/wireless router) has pretty good but not great service. Hi, I've got two ethernet ports on my Mac mini and have bonded them together with the virtual interface. I've then plugged them both into my GS116Ev2. If I have LAG turned off the Ethernet bond from macOS connects just fine - if I turn LAG on, it disconnects and reports that my switch doesn't support link aggregation. What's going on here? Why are they working with LAG turned off, but not on? Are they even working with an aggregated connection with LAG turned off (is the Mac doing it instead?) should they work with it on?Solvedgs748ts mac based port security
Trying to set up the switch (firmware version 5.2.0.11) as a basic managed switch and the only feature that needs to be enabled is mac based port security. I'd like to statically set the allowed mac address on a specific port. Any other device that connects to that particular switch port should either result in the port being shutdown, or just drop all traffic to / from that port. The user manual (page 6-17) says mac addressses can be statically configured, but I cannot find that option anywhere in the UI. Is this something that can be done with this model switch? I have not used ReadyCLOUD in quite some months. I tried it just now (from Starbucks) and on the page with the window labeled "Sign in with MyNETGEAR Account" I enter my email address and Password, but it just redisplays the same window with Email and Password changed to the color red. I don't know what that means, bvut I can't seem to get beyond it. I know the password is correct because I was given the option of changing my password. It send me an email with a link so I changed it. But I can't log in. Hello. I have successfully set up a new R9000 router. I am unable to connect a shared network drive for use in Plex. I am able to successfully connect a shared drive located on a PC running Win7, but I am unable to attach a shared drive on a Mac running High Sierra. The Genie interface does not give me a specific error. It just loads a new blank page for entry of a network drive. There is no specific info in the log, just that the drive failed to mount. I found one similar thread here, but there was no solution there. I can’t be the only one trying to attach a Mac drive. I’m hoping someone can point me in the right direction. Buongiorno Community, ho un problema a connettere i dispositivi alla rete wifi (2,4 e 5 GHz) dell'extender EX7000 e vorrei chiedervi cortesemente un aiuto a rispolvere il problema. Ho installato l'EX7000 come extender, collegandolo al modem Tim Fibra (release AGVTF_5.3.3). Già da subito ho avuto problemi ad eseguire l'installazione, perché le porte ethernet non fornivano nessuna connessione, così, ho dovuto collegarmi con il canale wifi impostando sul computer un indirizzo IP statico . Dopo l'installazione ho avuto subito accesso ad internet, così ho subito eseguito l'aggiornamento del firmware da ver.1.0.0.50 a ver.1.0.0.58. Mi sono preso un rischio ad aggiornare via wifi, ma la procedura è andata a buon fine e le porte ethernet hanno preso a funzionare. Successivamente ho iniziato a collegare i vari dispositivi mobili al wifi, ma ho riscontrato che anche questi non riuscivano da ottenere l'indirizzo IP. Controllando sulla GUI dell'extender sono presentati gli indirizzi MAC dei dispositivi (è riportato anche un indirizzo MAC che non corrisponde a nessun dispositivo, e non c'è verso di rimuoverlo!), ma ad essi non viene associato un indirizzo IP, ad eccezione di alcuni che, dopo un lasso di tempo, venivano rimossi. Inizialmente avevo risolto impostando degli indirizzi IP statici a tutti i dispositivi, ma per quelli come il chromecast che lo ricevono solo dal server DHCP, non c'è stato nulla da fare. Ho iniziato così a controllare le impostazioni del modem, ma su questo non sono impostati filtri di alcun genere. Riavviando sia il medem sia l'extender sembrava che il problema fosse superato, ma non è stato così. Anche in questo caso, alcuni dispositivi non sono riusciti a connettersi, se non impostando nuovamente gli indirizzi IP statici. Alla fine ho contattato l'assistenza Netgear. Mi hanno suggerito di modificare le chiavi di cifratura e il canale di trasmissione, ma non c'è stata alcuna soluzione, neanche dopo altri riavvii degli apparati. Documentandomi nella Community in inglese, sembrerebbe che questi fatti siano dovuti ad una non completa compatibilità con il modem/router a causa della quale l'extender non trasferirebbe correttamente il protocollo DHCP e il DNS ai vari dispositivi. Questo avvalorato anche dal fatto cha alcuni dispositivi ricevevano un indirizzo IP completamente sbagliato. Volevo chiedervi cortesemente una conferma riguardo la compatibilità tra modem ed ectender, oppure, sapere se qualcuno ha già affrontato questo problema ed è riuscito a risolverlo in qualche modo. Salve, io ho acquistato dei climatizzatori samsung con la possibilità di collegarli al wi fi tramite l' app proprietaria. Ora non sono riuscito a collegare le unità interne all' app, dopo aver contattato l' assistenza samsung mi è stato detto di creare un ' eccezione per gli indirizzi MAC e di sbloccare la porta UDP 123. Dopo di che la procedura dovrebbe andare a buon fine. Per cui vi chiedo di dirmi come poter fare queste due cose, mi collego tramite browser all' indirizzo 168. ecc poi entro.. da li in poi mi serve aiuto. Io ho win 10 pro 64 bit e il router è un D6200. The web interface for JGS524PE is clean and simple. A bit too simple perhaps? How can I see the mac address forwarding table? The switch obviously knows this, would be nice for web interface to show it on a tab. If I can't see this, I can't figure out which devices are connected to which ports, so I can't remotely troubleshoot layer 2 issues, or ask remote staff to make cable changes. Hi Netgear community, One of our sites has a NETGEAR ProSafe™ Gigabit Dual WAN SSL VPN Firewall FVS336Gv3 which has PPTP Server enabled and setup with working users for Windows OS, there is 1 user that uses MAC OS. Since that 1 user upgraded their macOS to Sierra the option for PPTP has been removed (Apple reports the reason is for security). I have tried enabling SSLVPN in the firewall but have struggled to get that working. As a fallback, we are looking at 3rd party clients that can create the VPN using PPTP again. I've looked at some suggested clients (FlowVPN, VPN Tracker, user is trying TunnelBlick) but not getting very far. Ideally, we want a freeware that can do PPTP (unless there is a free SSLVPN option).
