12 TopicsReplacing PSU brick did not solve V+12 Power Is Out Of Normal Range errors
Hi, I've been getting bursts of "V+12 Power Is Out Of Normal Range" messages for a couple of months now. Sometimes they last for a couple of days and then go away for a few weeks, sometimes they last for only a few hours. The unit has been connected to two different UPS units, without making a difference. I replaced the PSU brick (as suggested in other posts), but the errors returned. Not immediately though. And the errors show with both 1 and 2 disks in the unit. I'm running RAIDiator-x86-4.2.31. At this point I'm guessing that the PSU on the chassis itself is failing. Is that a fair assumption? Kind regards, PatrickSolved948Views0likes2CommentsRN3220 unable to boot after power outage
I have a ReadyNAS RN3220 that is unable to boot after a power outage. There is no output on the console connection and I cannot get in to the boot menu with or without disks. The ReadyNAS does not show up in RAIDar. The network connection stays up for about 2 seconds before disconnecting and connecting again. I have tried reseating the RAM and unplugging the CMOS battery for a while but this did not help. The power light is blinking green. I have also tried the USB recovery but this does not seem to do anything either (the activity light on the memory stick blinks once at boot then stays off). The unit is under warranty but I was told that problems caused by power outages were not covered... Any help is greatly appreciated!1.6KViews0likes7Comments314: Not receiving Power ON email alerts, but all others work fine
I've configured both of my ReadyNAS 314 (OS 6.6.1 and earlier) to send out email alerts via Gmail, and they have worked reliably. I get alerts for Power Off, Reboot, Backup status, Drive failure, etc. The ONLY alert I have NOT been getting is when the NAS is powered ON. This has never worked, in fact, for any version prior to OS6 6.6.1. I have not yet upgraded to the latest OS6 (6.7, I believe). I have a second NAS 314 that I keep powered off. When it gets turned on by an unauthorized person, I'd like to get alerted that somebody powered it on. The logs do show the Power On event ("System: ReadyNASOS background service started"). Is anybody getting Power ON alerts? How would I enable it?2.6KViews0likes2CommentsReadyNASRND4000 won't turn on at all
We use the ReadyNASRND4000 to facilitate backups, however we have come into work this morning and noticed it is not turned on at all. The power supply unit is on and working, but the ReadyNASRND4000 is not turning on. If anyone has any suggestions, it would be so greatly appreciated :)2.7KViews0likes4CommentsThere's no power button on the admin page (ReadyNAS OS 6.5.1)
Trying to restart my ReadyNAS "gracefully" from the web page. I followed instructions in the help docs (ReadyNAS OS 6.5 Software Manual), which says to (and even shows a picture on page 197) to click the power icon from the local Admin page (on the Overview tab). Note: the help docs show the power icon right next to the help icon. Problem: there's no such power icon! Was this removed in 6.5.1? How do I reboot the machine?2.3KViews0likes4CommentsReadyNAS Recovery
I understand I have run into a common problem. The power supply on my RND4210 went dead, and now I cannot access the data on my drives. Apparently Netgear discontinued support, and has no spare parts. Also apparently, there is no way to move the drives to a newer Netgear NAS and recover the data. The point of a NAS is to have a system with redundant drives in case of failure, but it appears the Netgear power supply is not reliable and burnouts are common so no matter how redundant the drives are, a single point of failure can lose all your data. To further complicate the situation, Netgear used a non-standard pinout on the power, so you cannot use an off the shelf power supply. I would be more than happy to rewire a power harness to power the NAS and recover my data. I dont care if the power supply fits in the chassis or not. I found references on the Internet saying this could be done, but I cannot find instructions on how to do so. My only other option is to buy a power supply from England and ship to the US. The cost to do so is 1/2 the cost of the original NAS. Asking if anybody can provide instructions to rewire a standard powersupply to a Netgear NAS. i have 4 terabytes of backups to recover, and I dont want to waste money. P.S. Another great option would be a conversion harness to plug from a standard power supply to the NAS.Solved3.4KViews0likes3CommentsIt is possible to disable the auto boot on Power on for ReadyNAS Pro (6) OS 6.4.1?
I have a legacy ReadyNAS Pro and a ReadyNAS Pro 6 (RNDP6000-V2) Both are running 6.4.1 Both have BIOS 07/26/2010 FLAME6-MB V2.0 Unfortunately both automatically boot on mains power on. I really would prefer them to be manually powered on with the button on the front *after* the mains is applied. I've looked through the BIOS. No suitable options in there. Is this indeed possible? Hello all, got a ReadyNAS Duo v2, bought on October 2012. The device has been running 24/7 during this time, even though the single disk contained was tuned to spin down. The NAS is connected to a UPS. No problems at all, until some days ago, when for some reason the duov2 switched off, without any apparent reason. Thought I had a UPS fault at the time, plus a difficult work load, so I did not pay attention at the time. The thing is that I removed the power supply adapter and reconnected it, but the readynas again did not power up. It did, after a couple of times, fiddling with the cable. The unit worked again just fine, until some moments ago, when it went dead again, for no apparent reason. The thing is that this time fiddling with the cord does nothing at all. Details: * I removed the cable and reconnected it. No matter how I insert it, the ACT blue led lights once, then it goes off. No activity takes place whatsover. * I used a digital voltmeter to measure the PSU voltage, seems ok at 12.26Volts. * I had a 12V/4Amp power supply with the same polarity around. Even though the current rating was lower (4Amp instead of 5), I decided to give it a try. Same result: ACT lights up once, then goes dead... I am at loss on what to do here. Seems my 3 year guarantee expired less than 2 months ago! Would netgear help in that scenario?Solved2.8KViews0likes2Comments
