60 TopicsMajor Failures After Firmware 2.0.0.74 Upgrade!
ORBI firmware version 2.0.0.74 is failing! I have used the ORBI RBK50 system since Apr 2017. While running the 1.xx.xx firmware, the conection was incredibly reliable & fast. I had max speeds from all my devices: several PCs running Windows 10, & an iMac running Sierra (10.12)[High Sierra (10.13) since Sep 25th]. I had reliably uploaded/downloaded hundreds of GB of data each month. This included successful backups to Crashplan & later IDrive. I was very happy with my ORBI. On Oct 1st, I updated my firmware to version 2.0.0.74. By Oct 2nd, I began having significant connectivity problems. Since then, I have tried several suggestions from another thread but the failures continued. Today, I performed the following steps: Factory reset all devices (router & 2 satellites) Performed initial installation Changed satellite names to Satellite-1 & Satellite-2 Rebooted xfinity router Rebooted ORBI router Restarted IDrive backup The connection is still failing! I am lucky to backup a handful of files before IDrive reports a dropped connection! I am not happy. I feel NETGEAR caused this problem with the 2.0.0.74 update. I will be very pissed if I have to pay for premium support to solve this problem!SolvedAre you going to compensate us for this non-availability of service? ? ( ORBI disconnections)
Hello, I bought an Orbi in the summer of 2017. (package 1 routeur / 1 satellite) until October 2017, I didn't have problems. But I made an update (my biggest error !) and since I have disconnections. (currently i have 2.1.2.18 firmware) I am no longer able to listen to music (Sonos) or watch Netflix. It has been 3 months now. I do not know what to do ! I understand the issue is with the Google product, If your product is not compatible with google products said it on the box. Are you going to compensate us for this non-availability of service? ? My job is to advise people for technological products. I am not in a position to recommend you product ... I am really disappointed because I find your product really interesting and well positioned Thank you JulienA way to disable auto-update of firmware? (V1.12.0.18)
Hi all, I've searched the forum here for this a few times and come up dry, so I figured I'd just come out and ask: Is there any method to disable automatic firmware updates on the Orbi (RBK50)? Firmware version 1.12.0.18 basically annihilated my previously solid Orbi setup on 1.11.0.20 firmware release, and the usual diagnostic steps (factory reset, rollback and reinstall, etc.) don't solve the problem. As is, every satellite is useless with the 1.12.0.18 firmware preventing them from switching their wireless access points on, and using the WiFi directly from the router is inexplicably slow enough to be mistaken for dialup even though testing on my modem confirmed it's not my internet connection (which is still moving at a decent clip of ~150mbps). Rolling it back to 1.11.0.20 gets me full functionality again, but only until evening when the Orbi automatically updates to 1.12.0.18 again and puts me right back. Is there a way to prevent the Orbi from automatically updating its firmware so I can roll back to a non-broken FW build for a while until Netgear fixes the hot mess that is 1.12.0.18? I work from home a fair bit, and with 1.12.0.18 my home network is crippled to the extent that I can't even get on my company's VPN anymore, and rolling it back every few hours or using a MiFi for everything are not viable long-term solutions. Any advice the community can offer to stop the automatic updater (or get me a beta firmware build that doesn't deactivate my satellites) is greatly appreciated. Sincerely, ~Mike~SolvedRBK50 is a downgrade from my Nighthawk R7000 for me
Firstly, I've glanced through some of the threads here and didn't find an exact match for my issue. I am replacing my Nighthawk R7000 due to some deadspots around the 2-level house. My wifi doorbell has a weak signal, and so do the devices in my family room (Xbox, Shield TV, etc) I also have various Amazon Echos, wifi thermostats, wifi cameras, and a Google Home. I followed the simple instructions to setup the new RBK50, and everything went well. It found a new firmware and installed it. But my signal to most of these devices is poor. The hard-wired connection is normal, but wifi signal is poor overall compared to my R7000. My Google Home takes 30 seconds to respond compared to when it was connected to my old router's wifi. My Androud TV is buffering, and my Echo dots all say they either can't connect or very slow to respond (usually caused by a poor signal). WIll I be spending hours or days troubleshooting this or should NEW users be doing somehting like a factory reset? This can't be normal, for such an expensive system. Any suggestions for a new user BEFORE I start digging in to the forums and pulling my hair out?Solved
