WiFi web download speed test dropped from near 100 Mbps download to around 20 Mbps after firmware upgrade. I tested by plugging directly into modem and get around 200 Mbps; same when cabled directly into the router. I see this speed reduction across several computers and phones, so I am sure it is the router and WiFi specifically. I rebooted several times, unplugged and replugged, check that WMM and QoS remain disabled, no blocking is enabled. My Macbook Pro connects over 5G on channel 157. Please advise on what to do next. Otherwise I'm moving to away from NetGear...Solved6.2KViews0likes8CommentsWNDR3400v3 slow wired connection
I recently upgraded my internet speed from 50mbps to 100mbps. Prior to the upgrade my wired connection speed to the router was always very near that 50mbps mark and my wirless speed was also very close (somewhere in the 30-40s). After upgrading, the speeds directly out of my modem are actually higher than the 100mbps target, I'm getting 120-130mbps consistently when plugged directly into the modem. However, when hard-wired to the router, I am seeing a significant drop off. The wired router connection has never been above 60mbps. My wireless speed is about the same as what it was before. I called support and they kept telling me that wireless speeds will always be less than what you pay for. He was not understanding that my concern was the hard-wired connection being half the speed that is coming directly from the modem. Then, he wanted to charge me $80 to try to "optimize the settings" remotely. I could go buy an identical router for less than that price and use the free trial support and have an extra router lying around (that can apparently only handle 50mbps incoming speeds). Anyways, I was wondering if there were any troubleshooting steps I should complete before buying a new router. I've tried factory resetting the router, Downgrading and Upgrading firmware, different ethernet cables (all cables worked at 120+mbps directly to the router). Nothing can get the speed above 60mbps. Thanks for any help that can be provided.SolvedNetgear r6400 web interface slow

I have had a r6300v2 fo quite a while and have not had any problems with it. However recently with no noticable reason the 5ghz network started running very slow. My i have 60mbps download speeds from my isp but on the 5ghz band I only get around 15mbps. In the past I have been able to achieve the full 60mbps on 5ghz. The 2.4 ghz seems to be just fine. I also checked to make sure other devices weren't the problem, and my network was the only one on channel 161. I am using firmware version V1.0.4.6_10.0.76SolvedR6300 Ethernet slow connection
This router has worked great for the past three years. I have a new ISP (Grande Communications) getting 400 Mbps and now all of a sudden the Ethernet ports out of the 6300 router are almost half of what comes out of the modem (Arris DG2470). I've tried all of the router ethernet ports with the same result. I updated the router with the latest firmware three days ago. Tried two new cat 6 cables from the modem to the router and PC. I've tested on multiple computers with the same results. Yet still only get around 180+ Mbps wired out of the router, but am getting 400+ out of the modem. Cat6 from modem to router is six feet. There is only one ethernet cable out of the router plus no active wireless devices devices when I test. The wireless on the Arris modem is disabled so there is no conflict. I would prefer sticking with a seperate wireless instead of using the wireless on the Arris modem. Plus I use OPEN DNS for family site filterning. (I did a test disabling OPEN DNS with both Google DNS and ISP DNS servers with same results. I also have two TIVO mini, but they are using the MoCA connection off the modem (not wifi). The Internet and cable TV come into the house on two seperate feeds. Grande recently installed fiber in my neighborhood, that's why I left Time Warner who only offered 50Mbps. Many time the wireless speed is faster than the wired ethernet. Go figure. I haven't called the cable company yet as they do not support seperate routers. I suppose I could use their wireless (built into the modem) but prefer having more control over my network. I'm at a loss as to why this problem occured and need advice on other options to troubleshoot. Thank you in advance for your comments.SolvedReplacement iphone 6 stops at 30mb down on speed test, when old iphone 6 went to 70 mpb down.
I just had my current iphone 6 replaced with a new one, and on 5ghz max download is 30mb, when my last phone was like 70mb. Any ideas? I do the speeds tests for fun, and it's not like 30mb down on the iphone 6 is any slower than if it was 70mb, but it's bothering me. I didn't change anything with the router, but did see this post here where the guy says it's the phone? https://community.netgear.com/t5/Nighthawk-WiFi-Routers/5ghz-very-slow-with-R7000-router/td-p/995800/page/2SolvedWNDR3800 Low download speeds wifi & wired
On Charter 60mbps, testing at half or less speed on computer wired and wifi. It seems to happen after I plug it in, if I reset it will test at full speeds, then later at half or less. Screenshot of test graph (mix of cat5e & wifi tests) - 60mb straight to router or modem, after a few minutes 20-30 straight to router - 20 and below is wifi. It's only the download, it will half or lower and lock, seems locked at 20mbps on cat5e now. Upload varies but often times even exceeds 4mbps limit. It's like it gets slower every time I test... It may be the router (Netgear WNDR 3800). I've tested another computer and it was making 48mbps on wireless. Seems isolated to this pc on wireless or lan at such low speeds. I do not know anything about the Ethernet card settings but I did put it in 1gbps full duplex, seeing some people say they were forced in half duplex, that didn't make a difference. Wifi also does this, It hardly ever tests at full 60mbps, sometimes though, then it will also go to half like 30mbps - or slower 10-15mbps. I did sift through the archives, most of the threads just kind of died with no solutions. Updated Ethernet card drivers, reset router... Directly connected to modem, 65mbps... Still looking for solutions... Ordered a 5port 1gb switch... Seems to be the router... 65mbps directly connected to modem. Switch may work, was only 10 bucks on amazin.SolvedWifi 2.4Ghz very slow on my R6250 Router
Last week I bought a R6250 Wifi Router, and I have problems with 2.4Gb wifi connections. They are too slow. I have 300 Mb (download) and 30 Mb (upload) with my ISP provider. With 5Ghz Wifi connection I have more than 200Mb for download and 30 Mb for upload, but with 2.4Gb Wifi connection I have 15/20 Mb for downloading and only 1-5 MB for uploading. With my old 2Ghz wifi connection I had 35/40 Mb for donwloading and 20/30 MB for uploading. I'm using speedtest app on mobile devices to do the speed tests. The firmware version is V1.0.4.2_10.1.10. Can anyone help me with this problem? Any recommendation?SolvedN300 WNR2000v2 Wireless Router slow download speed
Hey, I have Time Warner Cable as my internet service provider. I used to pay for 50 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload speeds. I used to get those speeds when connected to my Netgear router through wifi fine. Two days ago Time Warner Cable updated our internet to 200 Mbps download and 20 Mbps upload speed. When connected from laptop to modem given by Time Warner, the speeds are fine. However, when connected to my Netgear router through wifi, I am now only getting around 30 Mbps download but the upload has gone up to around 20 Mbps. So basically Time Warner upgraded my internet but Netgear has dropped my download speed and raised my upload speed. Some of my router settings: Channel - Auto Mode - 300 Mbps Security is on AES option. My default router MTU was 1492. I tried changing that to numerous options such as 1400, 1440, 1460, ect. but speeds remained the same. I put it back to 1492. I have tried disabling WMM,changing DNS, as well as changing channels. No change in speeds. Please help with this. Thanks.Solved
