I just bought a Galaxy S9 Plus and have found that when it connect to my R8300 it will only connect a 54 gigabit per second on the 5G. I also own an R 8500 and it connects just fine over 500 gigabits second. With all the testing I've done I have found that there seems to be a compatibility problem between the Nighthawk X8 R8300 model and my brand new Galaxy S9 Plus. Has anybody else connected these two specific models together. I have other phones and other devices that connect at a much faster rate than this specific phone the Galaxy S9 Plus. Please let me know if you've run into this exact problem. It's only connecting at the rate of a 2.4 speed, basically the old G speed.Solved2.9KViews0likes9CommentsR6400 router slow after firmware update V1.0.1.32_1.0.23
WiFi web download speed test dropped from near 100 Mbps download to around 20 Mbps after firmware upgrade. I tested by plugging directly into modem and get around 200 Mbps; same when cabled directly into the router. I see this speed reduction across several computers and phones, so I am sure it is the router and WiFi specifically. I rebooted several times, unplugged and replugged, check that WMM and QoS remain disabled, no blocking is enabled. My Macbook Pro connects over 5G on channel 157. Please advise on what to do next. Otherwise I'm moving to away from NetGear...Solved6.2KViews0likes8CommentsX10 R9000 wired network running at 100Mbps
I recently bought a X10 R9000 router to replace my old WNDR4500 N900 router, also from Netgear. I have Cat 6 or better ethernet cable running from the cable modem to the router and from the router to two computers. - When the WNDR4500 was installed, I could achieve ~80 - 100 megabytes per second transfer rates between my two wired computers (~gigabit speeds) - The leds on the old router indicated gigabit ethernet connections - I installed the R9000 in the same location and did not change any of the ethernet wiring or the gigabit switches I have in place - The R9000 shows white flashing leds for the two computers, indicating gigabit ethernet connections - When I transfer a large file, the speed clearly tops out at ~10-11 megabytes per second, like it's hitting a hard limit (looks like ~100Mbps ethernet) - I disconnected everything and connected both computers directly to the router using Cat6 cables and I still see the same transfer rate limit - I turned off any QOS settings I could find, but no change I have already checked for new firmware (none available yet). Do I have a defective R9000? I'm really considering returning this and waiting for a less buggy AC7200 router to come out. At this point, my expensive router looks like a downgrade.Solved3.2KViews0likes5CommentsNighthawk X4 AC2350 - Upload Speed Throttling Issue
Hello everyone, I was hoping to get some insight into an issue I'm having with my r7500. I have FIOS through frontier with a 75/75 plan. For a while I've been wanting to switch from the coax connection on the ONT and the old Verizon router that was provided when my roommate had the service installed years ago, and instead go to using the ethernet connection and my R7500. The house we are renting was already wired with cat5, so when we had a technician come to replace the dying backup battery on the ONT yesterday, I had him wire up the ethernet connection while he was here. I have all the PC's in the house hardwired with Cat6, but I wanted to get a 5GHz connection again for the tablets and phones that supported it, and was hoping for maybe a little performance bump as well. The install and configuration went fine up until I started running speed tests. Once my internet was confirmed working the technician left, not that he necessarily could have fixed this, but in hindsight I should have kept him around to verify the connection and speed was good. Running through Verizon's old router with coax to the ONT I consistently got 80-90Mbps both ways. With my new configuration I'm still in the normal range on the DL speed with 75-85, but my upload speed is now basically capped at 30-33Mbps. I have connected directly to the ONT in the garage with my laptop and the tests come back fine, 80-90 both directions. I connect directly to my pc in the office, and the connection is fine again. The problem only arises when I put the router in the way. I'll list my troubleshooting steps now so that maybe someone can find a flaw in what I'm doing, or can suggest a new course of action. I would love to keep this configuration since it helps out the mobile devices a lot, but beyond that, it's not really too much of a drag to go back to the old setup. I'll just deal with the psychologically added latency of thinking about my fiber getting transformed to coax, and then finally to cat5/6 before I can Juan Deag dem n00bz in CS:GO. It's mostly just bugging me that I can't figure out what's holding it up. Also, when running the same speed tests on my phone, I am consistently getting upload speeds of 40-50, or about 10/20Mbps higher, which seems strange to me. 1) The first thing I did was perform a factory reset on the router. I figured maybe I had some settings causing a problem from my old residence where I was using Cox. I tested again before changing any settings, but this had no effect. 2)QoS. Based on my research this seems to be the most likely culpret. My dynamic QoS was off by default, but i tried enabling and setting my bandwidth paramaters. Ran the test, still the same. Disabled it again, no change. I also tried disabling and enabling the WMM settings as well, no change. I then tried all of these again, this time rebooting the router each time, and no change. I tried artificially setting my QoS values high and low. I had no change regardless of how high i set them. However, I did see a change when setting my upload value low. My upload speed was limited to the QoS value until I changed it to higher than I was previously getting and then it would just continue at where it was previously capped at. ~30-35. 3)DMZ. I put my computer in the dmz to see if that would help out, but it didn't. 4)Wireless AP. I tried setting the router as a wireless AP, to see if using it in a switch or passthrough type of configuration would help, but no change. 4)Firmware. I downloaded the latest firmware from the netgear page. I confirmed I was using the most current firmware using the autoupdate function. Then factory reset and loaded the newly downloaded firmware. Factory reset again after install. No change. 5)Ran the SG TCP/IP Optimizer. Tested between windows default and optimized settings both running through the router and with a direct connection. Still good speeds running direct, same 80/30 going through the nighthawk. That's about all I've done and I'm kind've running out of ideas. Anyone have any thoughts on what the problem is or any other steps I can take? Any help is much appreciated and thanks in advance for taking the time to look at this! I recently upgraded my internet speed from 50mbps to 100mbps. Prior to the upgrade my wired connection speed to the router was always very near that 50mbps mark and my wirless speed was also very close (somewhere in the 30-40s). After upgrading, the speeds directly out of my modem are actually higher than the 100mbps target, I'm getting 120-130mbps consistently when plugged directly into the modem. However, when hard-wired to the router, I am seeing a significant drop off. The wired router connection has never been above 60mbps. My wireless speed is about the same as what it was before. I called support and they kept telling me that wireless speeds will always be less than what you pay for. He was not understanding that my concern was the hard-wired connection being half the speed that is coming directly from the modem. Then, he wanted to charge me $80 to try to "optimize the settings" remotely. I could go buy an identical router for less than that price and use the free trial support and have an extra router lying around (that can apparently only handle 50mbps incoming speeds). Anyways, I was wondering if there were any troubleshooting steps I should complete before buying a new router. I've tried factory resetting the router, Downgrading and Upgrading firmware, different ethernet cables (all cables worked at 120+mbps directly to the router). Nothing can get the speed above 60mbps. Thanks for any help that can be provided.SolvedSlow speed suddenly on R8000
I've been using this router for about 1.5 years now. As of 2 days ago, my download speed seems capped to 7Mbps, while the upload goes up to 20Mbps. Directly through out wired connection in the wall, not using the router, I am getting 200 / 200 Mbps for down and up. What can I troubleshoot? Nothing has changed at all this week. I have tried to unplug and plug back in the router, but there is no effect. I did a hard reset and used default router settings and still get the same effect. Is there anything else to try? I can't believe that I suddenly have a broken $300 router....Solved6KViews0likes2CommentsNetgear r6400 web interface slow

I have had a r6300v2 fo quite a while and have not had any problems with it. However recently with no noticable reason the 5ghz network started running very slow. My i have 60mbps download speeds from my isp but on the 5ghz band I only get around 15mbps. In the past I have been able to achieve the full 60mbps on 5ghz. The 2.4 ghz seems to be just fine. I also checked to make sure other devices weren't the problem, and my network was the only one on channel 161. I am using firmware version V1.0.4.6_10.0.76SolvedR6300 Ethernet slow connection
This router has worked great for the past three years. I have a new ISP (Grande Communications) getting 400 Mbps and now all of a sudden the Ethernet ports out of the 6300 router are almost half of what comes out of the modem (Arris DG2470). I've tried all of the router ethernet ports with the same result. I updated the router with the latest firmware three days ago. Tried two new cat 6 cables from the modem to the router and PC. I've tested on multiple computers with the same results. Yet still only get around 180+ Mbps wired out of the router, but am getting 400+ out of the modem. Cat6 from modem to router is six feet. There is only one ethernet cable out of the router plus no active wireless devices devices when I test. The wireless on the Arris modem is disabled so there is no conflict. I would prefer sticking with a seperate wireless instead of using the wireless on the Arris modem. Plus I use OPEN DNS for family site filterning. (I did a test disabling OPEN DNS with both Google DNS and ISP DNS servers with same results. I also have two TIVO mini, but they are using the MoCA connection off the modem (not wifi). The Internet and cable TV come into the house on two seperate feeds. Grande recently installed fiber in my neighborhood, that's why I left Time Warner who only offered 50Mbps. Many time the wireless speed is faster than the wired ethernet. Go figure. I haven't called the cable company yet as they do not support seperate routers. I suppose I could use their wireless (built into the modem) but prefer having more control over my network. I'm at a loss as to why this problem occured and need advice on other options to troubleshoot. Thank you in advance for your comments.Solved
