Creating a new thread to focus on this one issue. I don't believe this is a general slow wifi/slow internet issue, but is clearly Circle related. All tests done on wired connection via my Netgear R7000. I have a cable internet plan advertised as 150/15. This was all done on firmware 1.0.9.14, and I did a factory reset and setup my options yesterday fresh. I have never enabled QoS or Web Traffic. I do have IPv6 configured and it works. Circle was enabled now for 24 hours. Speed slowly sinks down to 37Mbps. I see this speedtest: Turn off Circle via webpage on router and hit apply. This saves quickly, no reboot of router. Now I see full speed, and see how solid the download speed is? I turn Circle back on, hit apply and I get this speed test. All tests run inside 2 minutes: Turn Circle back off, and retest. Going to leave it off for 24 hours now to test: Looking for any support from Netgear if this is expected, and if it is fixable. I just bought a Galaxy S9 Plus and have found that when it connect to my R8300 it will only connect a 54 gigabit per second on the 5G. I also own an R 8500 and it connects just fine over 500 gigabits second. With all the testing I've done I have found that there seems to be a compatibility problem between the Nighthawk X8 R8300 model and my brand new Galaxy S9 Plus. Has anybody else connected these two specific models together. I have other phones and other devices that connect at a much faster rate than this specific phone the Galaxy S9 Plus. Please let me know if you've run into this exact problem. WiFi web download speed test dropped from near 100 Mbps download to around 20 Mbps after firmware upgrade. I tested by plugging directly into modem and get around 200 Mbps; same when cabled directly into the router. I see this speed reduction across several computers and phones, so I am sure it is the router and WiFi specifically. I rebooted several times, unplugged and replugged, check that WMM and QoS remain disabled, no blocking is enabled. My Macbook Pro connects over 5G on channel 157. Please advise on what to do next. Rather than revive an old thread, I thought it best to start a new one (old one was two years old) I bought 4 EOP devices all at the same time. They were all brand new, in a sealed box. There was a pair of PL1010's and a pair of PL1200's. I plugged all of them into outlets in the same room of a brand new house. All of the devices booted fine, they all had the green LED's where they should be so plugged my cable modem into one of the PL1200's and tried to test the speed between the other three devices. All three of them gave me about 9Mbps. (Direct to cable modem I get 110+). So I took a few to another room and tried them there, still the same speed. I took them to where I was sure it was on a seperate run (circuit) and tested there, same. I downloaded the Genie app because I also have a Nighthawk R7000 wireless router and I like the network map feature. Well, to my surprise, it could also map my wireless, or hardwired connections as well as all of my powerline adapters. COOL! now it seemed to take quite a bit of time but it finally showed my PL1010's and then showed 2 "unknown" devices. Now clicking on the PL1010's, it gave me their connection speed at some absurd numbers, like 500 to 700mbps, and I was elated. However it only showed my PL1200's connecting at 10Mbps. Now I've gone through some troubleshooting and right now, I have the PL1010's connected to a network switch and they are working famously. I can get between 80 and 98 Mbps and I am thrilled. However, no matter what I do, no matter what the configuration, even just plugging in the 2 PL1200's and even setting securtity or not, and even though their pick a plug light has always been green, I will never see anything but 10Mbps's listed in the Genie app, and I will never get more than 9.7Mbps out of those adapters. Do I just have defective equipment or is there some other configuration tool that I could use to try to help? It almost seems like the port is locked at 10Mbps and I really don't think that would be possible in such a small device, unless there were some dipswitches inside the device I could check? I bought them from an ebay store that sells this stuff all the time and has a 100% rating. Is it possible I just got a lemon or am I missing something? Any thoughts? Ideas? Hey so I just bought and Orbi (and a Velop, which is constant to overall too slow). The Orbi is much faster BUT I am having 2 issues... BTW, I am on the latest firmware and have 300 down and 20 up. 1) Xbox One (both original XB1 and the Xbox One X) - Wireless - even though it has 100% signal strength, will not get more than 40 mbps download - Wired - will hit the max speeds available 2) Random system drop outs that effect wired and wireless. I go from 100% perfect signal to 0 in an instant. This shuts off the wireless and the wired model. My son was playing Xbox, while wired since the wireless kept disconnecting, and it still booted him from the game saying he lost his network connection. I noticed that if I activate beamforming or the MU-MIMO (or whatever it is) that both of those majorly slow down the network and I have to turn them off... (isn't that stuff supposed to make it faster?) IPV6 is activated also. I disabled Daisy Chain as well. How can I fix this? Going nuts here. I'd like to keep the faster system but will have to opt for the slower Linksys model because it's more consistent unless somebody can help me.Orbi RB50 very slow speed after update 2.0+
Hey guys, As you guys already know the firmware update issue on the Orbi is never ending. This is my 4th orbi set and after updating them to the latest firmware my internet speed gets cut down by 75%. Out of the box both routers work perfectly fine running RBS50 Firmware Version 1.4.0.18 but when i updated to RBS50 Firmware Version 2.0.0.74 (the auto update check says this is the latest update,which isn't) the internet speed goes down from around 250-300mbps to around 50mbps. So i decided to do a manual update to the actual latest update: RBS50 Firmware Version 2.1.1.16 but the slow internet speed is not fixed. This is not a distance issue or a hardware issue, it is specifically a firmware issue. There are hundreds of complaints on this all over the internet. What is the solution Netgear? Please stop ignoring this well-known issue. The router works perfectly fine out of the box and this has been the case my previous 3 routers, which included the AC2200 and the AC3000. I am so tired of this ongoing issue and lack of care from Netgear regarding this issue. I am in the process of manually downgrading it but for some reason, the internet is still slow. Hi everyone. I have an RBK40 system with 1x satellite. I recently upgraded to a 400/40 plan with my ISP (previous was 200/20). Speeds from router to modem are maxing at plan speeds -- no issues! Speeds are even perfect with hardwired NAS and PC. Again, no issues. The problem I'm having is via wireless. None of my wireless N devices will exceed more than just a little over 200mbps down (upload speeds are fine). Should I expect to get more than 200mbps down? I've tested on iPhone 7s, iPads, and laptops. Here's the configuration I have for both the router and the satellite. I recently bought a X10 R9000 router to replace my old WNDR4500 N900 router, also from Netgear. I have Cat 6 or better ethernet cable running from the cable modem to the router and from the router to two computers. - When the WNDR4500 was installed, I could achieve ~80 - 100 megabytes per second transfer rates between my two wired computers (~gigabit speeds) - The leds on the old router indicated gigabit ethernet connections - I installed the R9000 in the same location and did not change any of the ethernet wiring or the gigabit switches I have in place - The R9000 shows white flashing leds for the two computers, indicating gigabit ethernet connections - When I transfer a large file, the speed clearly tops out at ~10-11 megabytes per second, like it's hitting a hard limit (looks like ~100Mbps ethernet) - I disconnected everything and connected both computers directly to the router using Cat6 cables and I still see the same transfer rate limit - I turned off any QOS settings I could find, but no change I have already checked for new firmware (none available yet). Do I have a defective R9000? I'm really considering returning this and waiting for a less buggy AC7200 router to come out. I have installed software version 1.0.0.36 as recommended on this forum, I have set the USB Speed to 3.0 in the Advanced tab, I have disabled the NetgearUSBSwitch process from Start-up, and probably a few other things too which escape me at this hour, but I still only get a slow 54Mb/s connection speed. After the installation of the software v1.0.0.36 the connection speed did go up to 144Mb/s and all was good, but the next start up of my PC and all back as it was. I installed an Orbi RBK43 WiFi system yesterday. After the initial install (via the Orbi app), i was getting internet speeds of about 1-2 mb/second. Prior to this, I was reaching 70 mb/sec with my previous router. After spending an hour with Customer Support, my speeds were back up to the 70 mb/second range. Now, today I am back at ~5 mb/second speeds. This is a bit ridiculous for the price you pay for these mesh systems. I have no confidence in Customer Support, so I figured I would reach out to the community to see what has worked for you. Below is a summary of my setup: Orbi Router placed centrally upstairs in my home. One router is 20 feet away in another upstairs room, while the other satellite is approximately 30 feet away on the main level. I have enabled Implicit Beamforming and MU-MIMO. The main unit is in Router mode. I have IPv6 disabled. Firmware has been updated to the latest V1.12.0.20. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance.
