Per NetGear social media, we are supposed to suggest the below idea here. My idea, as crazy as it sounds, is that Netgear continue to support their R8000 devices. I know, sounds insane but hear me out. People spent hundreds of dollars on a product featuring the "latest tri-band wifi" technology. Now instead of leaving them hanging with a big security exploit for two months, device issues and a feature release stall, Netgear should develop a new robust firmware. Ideally it would be one that wouldn't encourage them to go out and try questionable 3rd party firmwares. That means, it should be competitive (feature wise) with those 3rd parties while fixing ongoing issues highlighted in the forums. Benefits: 1. Happy customers who don't feel like they wasted money and are not stranded with a reletively up to date tech, that lacks manufacture support, features and security. 2. See #1 above. I think it deserves reiteration. Facts 1. product saw less than 18 months of firmware releases and developer support. 2. Nearly 9 months have past since the last firmware update (as of 8/31/2016). 3. June 2016: security notice suggested disabling of features due to security exploit. 4. 2 month later, June 2016 security exploit is still unpatched, leaving customers exposed. 5. There are no Nighthawk products listed on the NetGear EoL page, including the R8000. 6. The product is still available through online and big-box retailers.125KViews7likes14CommentsOrbi RBR50 firmware V2.0.0.74. Does it support Gig down
I have the RBR50 with 3 satilights. I was getting roughly 275-280 down & 30 up when I had the 300/35 plan with my ISP. I've upgraded to the GIG down 50up plan and my Orbi speed dropped to 150 down but up upgraded to 50. I tried to check to see if I upgraded my speed past the orbi's capabilities and saw something that it supported up to 400 down. Is that correct or did I mis-understand (if that's a word)? So could my issue be caused by my web speed being being upgraded past the Orbi's abilities and is that why my speed has actually gone down after the upgrade? Hardwired test direct to a computer showed that the ISP is sending the upgraded speed. Older computer showed 380 down and Omex X setup hardwired was full speed. Also, I put the specs in the subject because the mobel tab wasn't working.poor customer support
I purchased this AC1200 router & customer support sucks. This is the 3rd Netgear product that has totally turned me off by the poor website & poor support. I returned all products & will return this one also. I was going to purchase Arlo home security but I just found out it is Netgear Definitely will not buy an Arlo.948Views0likes1CommentRalink.dll ERROR
So my netgear genie was going just fine for about 5 months, then this Netgear error pops up twice every time my computer turns on saying that the file "Ralink.dll" is not compatible or working properly on your computer. I deleted the .dll file and restarded my PC. When it came on this time it says " The code execution cannot proceed because Ralinkk.dll was not found. Reinstalling the program may fix this problem. Wont let me access the genie. Any help on how to reinstall the program and get it to work properly?1.4KViews0likes1Comment"This Serial number has already been registered in our system by a support representative."
Cannot update router, weak signal, purchased around 6 months ago at walmart. We're not sure how to update it or solve the issue with poor performance, so we looked into registering the product in order for support. However, "This Serial number has already been registered in our system by a support representative." shows up when trying to register product for troubleshooting assistance. Please help!2.6KViews0likes1CommentRBS50 blinking white all the time
Hello, I was away from home for nearly a month and had my RBS50 shutdown while my RBR50 was still running. When I came back, I have reset the link between the router and sattelite but now even if the system detects properly the RBS50, this one is always blinking white. I have reset/resync/rebooted but it stills blinks while the RBR50 is perfectly fine. Both firmware are the same 1.12.0.18. Any idea ? Thank you.How I disassociate my email address from my R8000
I sold my Nighthawk and the new owner wants to register his email address to the device so he can take advantage of the USB functionality. Support is being beyond stupid and asking me to file a ticket even though the system doesn't let me do so. Is there a way I can take care of this myself, or do I have to keep hammering fruitlessly at the incompetent Netgear support team?Solved2.9KViews0likes2CommentsSupport in China
Hi, I live in Shanghai, China and recently bought a R7000 here in China. After unwrapping and connecting it asked for a firmware update, which I started. After that I never get in contact with it again. I'm not an expert but a nerdy friend had it over and said it's completely bricked. No contact at all. So, reported it online, got a case number and everything, but I have to call support in China for further action. Not speaking a work of Chinese I'm kind of stuck. Quiestion: anyone know if there is an English speaking Netgear support channel in China? Can I take it somewhere else? My friend is really nerdy (20+ years of experience in computer and network business) and he has given up on it :(Solved7.7KViews0likes14CommentsOrbi appears to be corrupted by auto update, won't boot
Hi, So, I have an Orbi Router that's worked fine since purchase in 12/16, but had a problem in the early morning of 5/4/17, and now crashes on boot. I can see the DHCP processes start to vend IPs on the LAN ports, but it crashes before it can start the WiFi process, with a blue then red ring light sequence. Yes, I've done the factory default, with no change. Is there a procedure to recover from a corrupted firmware load ? Also, I have the situation where the S/N for my unit was registered, and then the unit was returned. So far, support appears incapable of dealing with this. though I've emailed by purchase receipt. What's the most effective way to solve these 2 problems ? Thanks, Paul MooreWhy do you provide such horrible support and software/firmware?
For a netgear moderator to answer. Do you guys even care about the customer base? Your software is horrible and you do nothing about it. You don't seem to pay attention to or listen to feedback. Support options for you guys is awful as well. Would love to hear a response.3.8KViews0likes2Comments
