POE for GS305P
Can the GS305P switch be powered for its own internal functions by its LAN connection to a POE network switch? I need to split an ethernet connection to two to four desktop PC's, and have a client insisting on a ceiling-mounted data cable reel. There will not be any free outlets to plug in the switch. They are all being used by the actual PC's, montitors, etc. I'm trying to avoid installing a separate reel for each data connection.Two laptops + switch: Always worked, now it doesn't
Hi, We have two laptop computers, a Mac and a PC. They both connect via Ethernet to a switch (NetGear GS105) and the switch is connected to a modem (no WiFi). For several months now, both computers shared the same internet connection without any problem. Now all of the sudden, I can connect only one or the other or neither, but not both. Time Warner Cable told me that the problem is with the Switch and NetGear are telling me that I need to use a router and not a switch. No one can answer the question: How can it be that both computers worked fine all this time and now they don't. If anyone here can help me get both computers up to the net without spending more money on a router, that would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
