16 TopicsOrbi and Neato Botvac Connected
I just replaced my pair of Airport Extremes with a new Orbi setup (one base/router and one wall plug satellite). I updated to the latest firmware during the setup. With one exception, everything works: iphone, ipad, macbook, windows laptop, appletv, wemo's, epson printer, tv, roku. The exception is my Neato Botvac Connected. Wifi setup on the Neato is much like a Wemo or a Fitbit scale... you connect to the device's internal wifi, have it scan for local SSIDs, choose your SSID and password, then it connects to your wifi. But the Botvac never connects. I've gone through all the basic and advanced steps; I've rebooted and reset; I've done it all. I've also opened a support request with Neato, but haven't seen a reply. What gets me is it worked just fine with the old Airport Extreme network, but refuses to work with the Orbi's. When it fails, the Neato app links out to a support doc referring to ports 80/443 being blocked. My experience is they're only blocked inbound, not outbound. And again... it works with the AE's with no special setup. I went so far as to do a MAC reservation to guarantee the Neato's IP, then added a rule to forward ports 80 and 443 to that IP and retried. It failed with the exact same error. So with everything but the Neato working and with no response from Neato support, I'm wondering if any other Orbi users have a working Neato Botvac Connected? If so, what did you do to get it working? I do have beamforming and MU-MIMO enabled. I've seen notes about those disconnecting older devices like Ring doorbells. But in this case, the Botvac cannot connect at all... its not connecting and then disconnecting. Wondering if I need to disable beamforming and mu-mimo? Last thing, the Neato has the latest firmware installed.Self-Assigned IP Address
On both my iPhone and MacBook I get a No Internet Connection error. Most of my Orbi settings are on the defaults. Most of the time when it happens it will eventually start working on its own afte a few mins. I know the Satelitte itself has an internet connection becuase the cameras that are on them record all the footage fine and there are no gaps. Anyone have an ideas why this happens. I end up getting a Self-Assigned IP Address (169.254.157.242) and nothing works for a few minutes or so. I tried setting a static IP address, it will work for most part but then eventually get the No Internet Connection error. ThanksSolvedContent loading issues over WiFi for Orbi RBR50
Details of devices connected to Orbi: Netgear CM1000 modem supplying the connection Desktop PC hardwired running Windows 10 most recent update Macbook Air (Mid 2013) running latest MacOS Chromecast 2 Android tablets running Nougat 1 iPhone 6 (iOS 10.3.1) 1 iPhone 6s (iOS 10.3.1) I bought the router a RBR50 on 7MAY17 and it was updated to the latest firmware right away (1.9.1.12). I initially set up the router using default settings. All my devices connected with no issues. Speeds were not an issue. However, upon attempting to load content over WiFi on both iOS devices content would not load tried various apps with the same result. It showed network activity but no content was loading. I switched off WiFi and retested over LTE and experienced no issues. I began attempting various fixes. Rebooted router numerous time (no resolution) Renewed and released leases on devices (no resolution) Tried various wireless channels on both the 2.4 and 5Ghz bands (no resolution) Tried various power levels (no resolution) Disabled Beamforming (no resolution) Disabled MU-MIMO (no resolution) Disconnected my Orbi and reconnected my previous wireless router a D-Link 850L and the issue was resolved. I want to like this router because of the good range and extremely good speeds but having to jump through all these hoops to get functionality is extremely tedious and disappointing due to the price. I hope this can be resolved. Any help would be greatly appreciated.SolvedPing spikes and packet loss on WiFi
Hi, I’m having trouble with my orbi router with online gaming over WiFi. For the rest it works extremely well with high speed (400 down 40 up) and very low pings (10ms), all on WiFi. However with online gaming I got ping spikes and packet loss which makes it impossible to game online over WiFi. Over Ethernet it works great so it’s not my ISP that is the issue. How can I solve the spikes? There is not QoS option available in the routers interface. I have tried switching the satellite off but the problem remains. Hope somebody can help! Thanks ChristiaanRBK50 is a downgrade from my Nighthawk R7000 for me
Firstly, I've glanced through some of the threads here and didn't find an exact match for my issue. I am replacing my Nighthawk R7000 due to some deadspots around the 2-level house. My wifi doorbell has a weak signal, and so do the devices in my family room (Xbox, Shield TV, etc) I also have various Amazon Echos, wifi thermostats, wifi cameras, and a Google Home. I followed the simple instructions to setup the new RBK50, and everything went well. It found a new firmware and installed it. But my signal to most of these devices is poor. The hard-wired connection is normal, but wifi signal is poor overall compared to my R7000. My Google Home takes 30 seconds to respond compared to when it was connected to my old router's wifi. My Androud TV is buffering, and my Echo dots all say they either can't connect or very slow to respond (usually caused by a poor signal). WIll I be spending hours or days troubleshooting this or should NEW users be doing somehting like a factory reset? This can't be normal, for such an expensive system. Any suggestions for a new user BEFORE I start digging in to the forums and pulling my hair out?SolvedCan't connect some devices to wi-fi network after installing Orbi router and two satellites.
I recently installed 3-pack Orbi router and two satelites and the setup was a breeze. Unfortunately, half of my devices refuse to connect. Two of three of our household's MacBook Pros refuse to connect to the network. Occassionally, after renewing the DHCP lease, or restarting the Cable modem, these MacBooks will connect to the wifi network, however, there is then no access to internet. For all other devices (cameras, mobile devices, etc) the connection is easy and always works - even when the above devices are failing. I have tried restarting everything and repower them on in (slow) sequence. No avail. Any ideas? If I can't solve this, I am gonna take these back and return to the extenders I was using.2x 2016 Vizio Chromecast TVs that both lose their connection to Orbi RBK50
Since install, both Vizio Chromecast TVs lose their connection between TV watching sessions. Toggling the TV on/off/on using a remote or unplugging the TV and plugging it back in allow it to reconnect, but then it will lose it's connection again within a few hours. The trouble is that I did a firmware update when I connected the TVs to my new Orbi. Everything else on the new network are working much much better. Any suggestions for a troubleshooting process to get this issue nailed down and fixed? Thanks! ErikSolvedOrbi latest Firmware v1.12.0.18 - no off switch for wifi bands
Hmm latest firmware seems broken - The switches to turn on/off the different radios e.g. 2.4 or 5Ghz have dissapeared. Now having all sorts of disconnect issues due to 2.4Ghz being on. My Setup was working well with 2.4 off now I cannot tunr it offTurn off wireless schedule not working as intended
Not sure if its because of the new firmware, but i am not getting the "turn off wirless by schedule" working as intended. Say for example i set period start 9am to 6pm. The wifi signal would go off in 8:30am and when its over 6pm. The wifi do not turn on itself. I have to login to admin page and found that the "enable wireless radio" box was unchecked. To turn the wifi signal back, i have to check the box and apply the setting. This have been going on since day 3 i ever use this feature and it does not make sense. Any one else have this issue? I have fed up and switch back to the normal settings without using this feature. Will monitor my connection these few days and will update. One thing i do notice though, the new firmware has been causing disconnect issue even worse. Not sure if this is the cause. But seems every roll out of new update, the router connection becomes unstable. How do we block auto update of the firmware?Android/2.4-5 GHz switching potential fix
Good afternoon! For those having problems with Android/5 GHz devices dropping the wifi and picking it back up immediately, I have found a temporary solution. The problem with the LG G5 and Pixel was that it was switching between 2.4 and 5 GHz connections regularly. On the Orbi, you cannot separate the SSID's for each frequency so I just disabled the SSID on the 2.4 GHz network. I then chose "forget network" and reconnect my 5 GHz capable devices to the only SSID showing which was 5 GHz. All devices connected to 2.4 GHz stayed connected and the loss of signal quit happening. I suspect that the 2.4 seemed to be slightly stronger between walls so the strongest signal would vary between 2.4 and 5 GHz. Here is my configuration below. So far it has been up and running with no dropping or Orbi restarts for 18 hours. Firmware: 2.1.2 10 Beta
