Connection between attached devices drops (no ping possible)

I have a Orbi AC3000 setup with
Hardware Version RBR50
Firmware Version V2.7.5.4
GUI Language Version V1.0.0.423
Operation Mode Router

And three satellites:
RBS50 all on FW V2.7.5.4
Connection on all devices is good.

Issue:
I'm loosing layer 3 network connection between one of my hosts and my wifi network camera.
The effect is somewhat random.
My host is connected with ethernet to one of the satellites.
My wifi cam connect through wifi to a different satellite.
At some point in time, I can't ping the cam from the host anymore.
However I can ping the camera from my laptop.
My laptop is connected with wifi to the RBR50.
Also the internet connection for the wifi cam continues to work fine.
After rebooting the router, the host is able to ping the camera again and connect to it.

I have to reboot my system almost every 1-2 weeks.
I was hoping there is a ways to fix this, or at least force the refresh of the connections without rebooting the router?

  • What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?
Be sure your using a good quality LAN cable between the modem and router. CAT6A STP is recommended.

    How many RBS are deployed?
What is the size of your home? Sq Ft?

What is the distance between the router 📡 and satellite(s)🛰️? 30 feet or more is recommended in between RBR 📡 and RBS 🛰️ to begin with depending upon building materials when wired or wirelessly connected.

Does this happen with the RBS turned OFF?
Does this happen with both wireless and wired devices?
What channel configurations are currently set on the router?

What is the make/model of this WiFi camera?

Does it appear in the list of Attached Devices?

What prompted the desire to ping the camera?

      Thanks

  • The problems seems to be between RBR and RBS units.
It seems that traffic for certain devices is not forwarded correctly all the time.

I just rebooted on of my cameras and lost connection between my DVR host subsequently.
Before the reboot connection was ok.

CAM is connected via WIFI with RBR (x.y.z.30)
DVR host is connected to RBS Office (x.y.z.98) ping to x.y.z.30 not possible
My laptop is connected to RBR as well (x.y.z.73), ping to x.y.z.30 works!

I will reboot the system now to check if ping between .98 and .30 works again.

      Sure enough.
After reboot ping and connection to cam works again.

Is there a way to get more details logs from RBR and RBSs?

Maybe someone from support can look into this?

Most of us came to the community forum because our 'complimentary' 90 days of support had expired. (mine seven years ago). The only way we can talk to Netgear Support is to purchase a support contract.  The problem also must be active and reproducible.  If rebooting made eliminated the problem, there is no longer anything to investigate.

I have eight Reolink cameras connected to an Orbi system with one router and three satellites.  Did not purchase an NVR host, so cameras are accessed using the Reolink Client software (Windows) or the Reolink Android app.

Does this problem happen with only one camera, or with many?

When the NVR cannot communicate with a camera, but the laptop can, could you temporarily relocate the laptop so that it is connected to the Office satellite.  That might help determine if the router to satellite connection is functioning correctly.

Also, the Reolink Client is available for Windows and Mac.

The issue is not only with my cameras.
My tablet just lost connection to my local server during normal operation.
So tablet can't access anything that is hosted on x.x.x.10.
Will reboot the system another time.
Will also swap out the satellite my x.x.x.10 host is connected to.
Maybe something is wrong with it.
