Firmware V1.12.0.18 Discussion
This does indeed appear to be based on (identical to?) the last private beta V1.12.0.16 and has been released to the public. Hope it helps!
Guest mode AP isolation finally works 100% over IPv4 and IPv6 - much happiness in my household. =)

Success!!!
Just downgraded to v1.11.00.20. Turned off the 2.4 GHz radio on the Orbi system. Plugged in an old Airport Express and put all of my 2.4 GHz devices on it. Everything still works and I am getting 500 megs a second up and down over wifi on my MacBook Pro.

- timchLuminaryI've noted all the advice to downgrade but I'm not convinced that is a universally good idea. I was having disconnecting problems with my iOS devices and unreliable connections from my satellite but Netgear helpfully sent me the beta firmware. This corrected all my problems and I have now upgraded to the 12.0.18 firmware. I have been running the stock firmware since it was released and it has been very reliable. I'm therefore not sure why others seem to be having such difficulties since their experience seems diametrically opposed to mine.

I've had reliable service on fw 12.x for all my devices, including 2 iPhones, 3 iPads, a MacBook Air and a new MacBook Pro, plus an Apple TV, 2 printers, a BluRay player and an Onlyo receiver. But, I have left all settings at default cept DNS.

Like many others, this firmware completely crippled my network. I have had to disable auto updates and roll back to the 1.11.0.20 release which is at least stable. For me, it seems like the routing table gets screwed up. I am double-natted from my cable modem so perhaps that is the problem. From my PC, if I connect to a VPN, the internet will work fine, but when disconnected, only a handful of sites work (google, reddit and a couple others). When I say work, I use the term lightly. Load times are horrendous.

Double NAT is not the issue. I bridged my cable modem and the firmware still has routing issues. Back on 1.11.0.20 again.

I have has issues the last week with my internet. I thought it was suddenlink, but it soulds like it could be the new firmware update. I unplug my modem and then my Orbi and that seems to fix it. But I have to do this almost once a day, which is becoming a pain. Anyone else having the same issue and have you found a fix?
Thank you,
This is more of a rant than anything towards solving this problem...
I find it crazy I have to pay for extended support for a product that auto-updates itself and then breaks because of that auto-update. Seems like support should be included if I don't have the ability to turn-off these bug filled auto-updates.
Even with the newest firmware, I am still having problems with the backhaul stability. Just to make sure I wasn't crazy, I tried out Google Wifi in the same exact location and had no issues streaaming. If I wasn't past my return window, I would have returned these a long time ago.

I have a ton of devices on my network and they all seem to be function as they are supposed to EXCEPT for my Sprint S8 Plus. After the firmware update my S8 Plus drops off of my network for 20-30 seconds at a time (with an exclamation point next to WiFi icon) before it reconnects. This happens 100% of the time when I move between router/satellites. Internet appears to be fine but then a page or app will stop loading. Only way to get back on the internet is to wait or toggle WiFi (but toggling will often result in another disconnect). A bunch of other S8 users over on the Samsung forums are having the same exact issue with Orbi.

Might as well ask this here...
I've got a RBR/RBS50 setup, and 1.12.0.18 is somehow still automatically downloading itself and installing to my router and satellites even though I went in and disabled automatic updating in the NVRAM.
Does anyone have an alternative way to shut off automatic updating? I kind of need my system functional, and 1.12.0.18 cripples my system so badly that none of my satellites work as access points, and my WiFi speeds drop by at least 50%.

Mine is holding on the downgrade - just checked still at 1.11.0.20 I followed instructions on page 5 of this thread precisely. Be sure to do this fairly quickly after downgrading...the router is a slick upgrader if you wait too long. Also avoid clicking the check the firmware upgrade available button or anything while making the downgrade.

I am having the same exact issue with my T-Mobile S8+. It started randomly disconnecting recently (the Wifi is still connected but the connection to the Internet is lost) after having worked flawlessly. I logged in and noticed the router had auto updated to 1.12.0.18. I have tried rolling it back to the previous version but like you that no longer works either. The only other issue I had with Orbi was occassionally the router would freeze up and drop the wifi signal completely which would require me to power off/on the router and it would work for a week or so before doing it again. Additionally, after several weeks, my internet speed would drop from 125 Mbps to 12-25 Mbps. The fix for this was factory resetting and then uploading my saved image to restore all of my settings/ port forwards.- DarrenMSr. NETGEAR Moderator
Hello Everyone
We are listening to the feedback and I have been told that the features that have been taken out will be added back in a future firmware release I just do not have ETAs on the firmware release.
Thanks

I have the 3 pack Orbi AC3000 from Costco. Several connection drops per day before and after the latest firmware V1.12.018. I thought it was my Comcast service issue for a few weeks then I missed the return deadline to Costco. Now, I'm stuck with a $500 system worse than wireless routers I had less than 1/3 of cost. I'm tired and fed up by this and false sense of hope the next firmware will solve this issue.

No kidding! The most hilarious part of this gong show is the beta firmware always seems to be fine and run stable and then they do an official release, change the version number and god knows what else and then that's exactly when the disconnect issues resurface. Wished I would have went with the Linksys Velop or Google wifi...

Costco is usually very generous with their return policy. I'm sure if you explained what is going on with your device they would accept the return for you.

Well, I've officially given up...
After reverting to v1.11.0.20 manually and disabling updates in the NVRAM, I've suddenly started getting random disconnects on most of my WiFi devices that I wasn't getting before the release of v1.12.0.18 and the rollback. I was going to give Netgear until month's end to straighten this mess out, but the competition just made me a much better offer. Gonna audition the Linksys Velop and D-Link Covr as replacements this weekend.

MacrossMike if Netgear does not plan to add the option to adjust radios I am going to look elsewhere also sadly because I did like Orbi but Netgear is determined to handicap it, please do post comparison of Velope performance and stability experience.

Can you explain why you want to adjust radios? I just have a plain Orbi router/satellite system and have no deep knowledge of wifi and don't know if I -should- be able to adjust transmitter power or why.

Well, I am officially 100% done with my Orbi RBK-50 as of today.
I got sick of dealing with the frequent unwanted automatic updates and all the problems v1.12.0.18 was causing with non-functional Orbi satellites, curtailed WiFi speeds, and high processor usage and started to audition replacements. The Orbi was a contender on the older v.1.11.0.20 firmware, but on v1.12.0.18 both the Linksys Velop and D-Link Covr knock it into a cocked hat. The Velop may have reduced maximum WiFi speed because it doesn't have a dedicated backhaul, but it's a hell of a lot more stable right out of the box. D-Link's Covr makes a mockery of the Orbi by being every bit as fast as a properly-functioning Orbi RBK-50, but with none of the stability problems, a better-designed user interface, and day one support for ethernet backhaul.
Needless to say, I will be retiring my Orbi system in favor of the D-Link Covr. Maybe once Netgear gets the firmware straightened out I'll fob it off on one of my brothers when they need a wireless setup or something. It cost too much to simply throw out.

First my Sprint S8 Plus was disconnecting when I moved rooms and now it is my main laptop, A Surface Book. But with the Surface Book I am literally just sitting on my couch on YouTube. Every 5 minutes or so the video will buffer, then my WiFi icon has an exclamation point, and eventually it starts back up (30 seconds or so) but after that it will just keep happening. My patience is very thin at this point. Fix it, Netgear!

I too have started having a wireless connection problems with 1.12.0.18.
The problem though is that Netgear probably can't do anything to fix it and are likley waiting on Qualcomm for wireless driver updates.

Doubt, since its rock stable on this FW 1.11.0.20 after downgrade (see page 5 and comments elsewhere here) not sure this is a Qualcomm driver issue??
