Google Pixel 9 and Orbi Wi-Fi 5 issues

I've had my Orbi setup for years with little to no problems. However, for the past 2 weeks, my Google Pixel 9 Pro phone has behaved like it's on a dial-up modem connection when on my home wifi. It's fine with five other Wifi networks I use regularly, and its good with just the regular T-Mobile data connection. But it's definitely not happy with the Orbi Wifi.

The last change to the Pixel was April 5th (system update) which was over a month ago, and it was fine for 2 weeks after. I've even done the Pixel 'reset network and Bluetooth settings' option to wipe the config from the phone and start fresh.

On the Orbi, I've twiddled some of the advanced Wifi settings in the  config but it's not changed anything. Has anyone else run into this? Any thoughts or suggestions? Other phones (iPhone, OnePlus) seem fine on the network.

  • The next Android update on the phone fixed it. I still don't know what happened and Google support was useless.

    Any progress on this?

    Hello dimikagi ,

    Welcome to the NETGEAR Community!

I understand that you are having disconnection issues with your Google Pixel 9 on your Orbi network. Due to other devices working on your Orbi network, it is best to tweak some settings on your Google Pixel 9. Please try navigating to settings > Network&internet> Internet> tap the gear icon next to the Orbi wireless network name> Privacy> then "Use device MAC".

    Best,

    Kevin

I tried that at the time and it did nothing. I also tried to suppress sending the device name during DHCP registration and tried a static IP address on the network, too. Nothing worked.

What model Orbi do you have?

What Firmware version is loaded on the system?

Might contact Google about there products for help and information regarding them...
