Way to go NG! I've pruposely not updated my firmware due to reading about all the issues recently beingfaced with the latest firmware and I've been working perfectly for the 2 weeks I've had the system. You decide to autoupdate me and now my internet connection drops off every 30mins or so. Great. Well done!!!
- pablohoneyLuminaryAnyone noticing a drop in wifi download speed since this latest update? I’m noticing my download speed has halved but upload is ok on my iPhone XS Max.
- Dfran1ApprenticeNow this Orbi is really getting to me
I telnet in, made the changes , verified them and this POS still took the update !!!!!!
I go to watch tv now and guess what , suck internet like 44 is !!!! After it auto updated again on me.
I was perfectly happy on 210 , great picture , now sucky picture and voice does not match mouths ,
I have basic setup this is totally bull on Netgear.
I don’t have time to spend on this 44 garbage NETGEAR shoved down our throats.
I setup from scratch 32 before 44, I highly doubt a setup from scratch is going to fix this garbage 44!
Not one time before has setting up from scratch fixed any router I had , and I had many! The only time it had worked is when a garbage firmware came out BUT over time it still went to crap.
Someone please tell me how to actually get 210 to stay please
Thank you - MagickitsInitiateI have all my lights and at least 40 drives on these ordi’s flawless until this firmware update. Not none of my Satellite reach the base anymore without me standing 10/12 feet from the base. I have been working on this issue for 5 hours now and nothing works. All after the firmware update! What a joke, I was just telling a co-worker how nice the Orbi was. I am so pissed!

I had similar issue, but I was using two separate SSIDs.
Go to the Orbi router Firmware Update page and check if those Satellites are stuck in "Waiting for connection" instead of "No new firmware version available".

Hi SW_
When I first got the Orbi's I split the SSID's. Mine are doing exactly what you mentioned. Waiting for connection.
What is your suggestion to fix this?Adding the RBS40 to my network not too long ago, I almost took it all back. Now this.
Netgear - give people the option to update firmware! Don't make everyone!
- pablohoneyLuminaryI don’t understand why this firmware version is working for some and not others? The download speed on my iPhone XS Max. has halved since this update but upload speed is ok. I ran the built in Speedtest on the Orbi and it confirms it is getting the max. speed from my broadband provider so it’s the Orbi. All the advanced options are ticked in wireless settings. Anyone else notice download speed halved but upload ok since the update?
- SW_Prodigy
Mine was definitely slower with v44 than v210, but not half.
This might not matter in your case since your speedtest was good prior to latest firmware update, but give this a shot and see if it makes any difference. If you already did this, then ignore.
- Disable 20/40 MHz Coexistence
- pablohoneyLuminaryI tried that to no avail. I also tried disabling and re-enabling advanced settings also to no avail. Something is dragging down the download speed and I don’t know what :(
- pablohoneyLuminaryAnyone have a link to the previous firmware version as I want to revert to it?

Usual place. Find the support pages for your hardware and take it from there.

- pablohoneyLuminaryThanks. Is it safe to revert from 2.3.1.44 back to 2.3.0.32 directly?

4 days of solid uptime and operation on v44
System Uptime 04:18:02:32 - pablohoneyLuminaryIt’s strange how these firmware versions affect different regions/setups differently. I feel the end users nowadays are the beta testers. If not Netgears QA (if any) is shocking.

Is anyone having an issue where the satellite isnt showing any connected devices? I saw discussion on an older firmware but I have version 2.3.1.44 and its still not showing any of my household devices connecting. Will this issue get fixed?
- RustyyTutor
Yeah, I just checked my connected divices list. They are all connected to the router other than my PC which is upstairs which is connected via Ethernet. Explains the speed test too as near that my wireless divices get 100+ rest of the house 15-40.
WHY DID THEY BREAK SOMETHING THAT WAS WORKING!?!?!?!?!?!?!??!?!?!!?edit* In fact, checking the "Network Map" on the app. Both of the satellites are purple with only the router green. The "Waiting to connect" curse continues.Looks like factory reset might be the only option which I have tried to avoid, with all the drama I had adding the RSB40 to the system.

I have a different problem - my satellites show devices connected to them that are also shown as connected to the other satellite or the router. So it's hard to tell what the device is actually connected to.

Could be a result of stale/cached info. Give them more time to sync their info or just power cycle all the Satellites first and then follow by the Router itself. This will take a bit of time, but it will refresh the database for the connected devices unless you are running into a config sync problem.
- pablohoneyLuminaryInteresting, I finally found the culprit for my download speed halving - “Daisychain topology”. When disabled it fixed the issue even in 2.3.1.44
Why would having it enabled halve my download speed not just on wifi but also when connected via ethernet to main Orbi router???- gr8shoVirtuosoIt looks like if I try to disable, it wants to reboot the Orbi. This option should be irrelevant for a one satellite topology.

One would think that turning off Daisy Chain should not require a reboot, but it does (sigh). ekhaliil has an excellent explanation of how Orbi backhaul works. When Daisy Chain is off, only the router opens 5G backhaul channels. When Diasy Chain is on, the Satellites open up different 5G channels. So, with Daisy Chain enabled, there is more congestion in the 5G band.
I waited until the house was empty (except for the Geek), unchecked Daisy Chain, and let the system reboot. My guess is the default is Daisy Chain enabled because Netgear doesn't know if a customer purchased a package with one Satellite or two, or how they would want to configure their network. Daisy Chain enabled always works. It just ties up more 5G channels.
- pablohoneyLuminaryI stupidly enabled Daisychain and my download speed which was corrected with it off is now halved again. I turned off Daisychain again but it didn’t work. Looks like a factory reset is in order. I dunno its a fcuking expensive system to have so many bugs with it.
- pablohoneyLuminaryPS I only have 1 satellite so Daisychain should not be enabled I presume? Although it was enabled prior to this firmware and download speed was normal so I dunno.
