LB2120: no automatic re-connect
Hello,
frequently (every 24 - 30 hours) my LB2120 is losing connection (amber LED) but won't reconnect automatically although I set in the menu "reconnect automatically, always". It's set to bridge mode, a Raspberry Pi sends Ping requests every 3 minutes and there are VOIP accounts active.
I have to enter the menu and click on re-connect. It has run unattended in a holiday home, so this is not a viable option.
Thanks for help...

- JttggTutorSame issue.
- JttggTutorIt should be possible to do it, croning a bash executing curl commands, to automatically login and click on "reconnect", every 24h for exemple. But I am not familiar with curl.
If anyone has already done it....
Same issue here
This equipement was bought to failover but it is not reliable enough
Any firmware update of beta version available ?

Are there any updates?
I ended up breaking the power supply of the device by a timer every night in order to have it available at least the next day.

Same here, my modem randomly disconnects and sits there until I click on reconnect or restart the device. This is rather annoying... can you please help?

Hi Guys, I'm form Italy and I have the same problem, both in the router or bridge mode.
I bought this modem to have a fail-safe network but every couple of days it goes down and I cant'reach it from the web.
If I log-in in the web-based interface and i click on "reconnect" it restart working.
Why isn't this automatic?
(I use only 4G connection and it is always connected).
Is there a solution or did I have to send it back to the vendor?
(Sorry for my bad english)

Hi Jetro, welcome to the debate! Your're English is definately better than my Italian! Seems this problem is very common and so far I've not seen a solution - the best I've read is package it back up and send it back. I've had lots of probems in the past with Netgear routers and extenders and this is proving to be no exception I'm afraid.

Just a further update on what I've been trying.
1. In bridge mode I've tried the "Auto Connect Always" setting, this hasn't made the LTE re-connection automatic.
2. I've actually added an external aerial ... no joy there.
3. I've now reconfigured the box back to "router" mode (it still sits between my wifi access points and ISP router).
I'll update with any progress, you never know Netgear may actually fix it at some point.

I have the same issue. I keep losing internet connection and cannot get back on. So frustrating, I restarted the modem 10 ties the other day until it comp, etely failed. Please help, I need this for work!

i am having the same issue here. connection dropping out on a daily basis.
is there a solution for this yet?
- robfrgGuide
Probably a final update on this, bizarrely after all my calls and posts things have improved - unfortunately I think this is because it's not dropping connections rather than re-connecting.
I have now finally admitted defeat with the router and will be returning it.
I've replaced it with a Teltonika RUT240 - I've just set it up and am intially impressed, it's not a "home" friendly box TBH and seems to be geared at the professional user and has the setup and capabilities to support this. Since many people on this forum seem clued up that may not be a problem. It's a few pounds cheaper than the NG box and has way more functionality available in it.

Hi,
Same problem here.
Is there any solution in the meantime, I mean besides the mentioned workarounds.
Thanks
Steve

I have given up with this device. It was supplied by Amazon and although the return window had closed, I argued that the product is not fit for purpose and they agreed to a refund.
We now have an integrated Draytek Vigo 2860LB router with 4G failover - this works seamlessly and without the need for constant reboot and checking that the failover 4G is connected.
Given the amount of legacy Netgear products we have (managed and unmanaged switches that were built to a high standard) we are extremely disappointed with the LB2120 device. We will now be looking for different suppliers as our faith in Netgear has been undermined by this episode.

Has anybody received this firmware yet? I've replied to the e-mails, registered my router and nothing....anybody had any success at all?

Still waiting for the software to be pushed to my device. I was told that I would be notified when this eventually happens. Based on our wait to get this far, I am not holding my breath, however, in fairness to Netgear, I would rather wait a little longer and get something that works as it is supposed to work. Just my AU$0.02

I've raised an issue with Amazon and they have agreed to refund me the purchase price if I want to return it. I'll give the firmware a bit more time but at this point I'm leaning more and more to returning this router, getting a refund and then buying one that actually performs this most basic of requirements...ie - switch to the mobile when the broadband goes down...y'know - the one thing that everybody buys these things for. It's just unbelievable that netgear are dragging their heels so badly on this

I am still to recieve anything also.
From some very basic testing on my desk with one of the "failing" units, it seems I get a disconnect if I transfer approx 4GB in a 24 hour period. Its just failed this morning and this is a similar figure to the last incident a few days ago. Might be coincidence, but I will be trying it again to see if this is a consistent scenario. Anyone else able to test that?

My current thoughts are:
Blanca has been pretty responsive so far but for me it's been radio silence since end of last week. Given the time of year it's quite possible that he/she is on holiday [ vacation for my friends across the pond ] so I'm going to wait until next week.
In the meantime I'm going to be browsing for 4g failover routers that actually...you know...work, and if I get no resolution on this next week then I'll send this ahem "device" back to Amazon, get a full refund and buy one from a different manufacturer.

Im looking at this one
Teltonika 4G-RUT240 Compact Industrial 4G LTE Router
Im using 4g as the main connection with a Satellite backup....so even as the main WAN connection the Netgear is useless

mfoster11 - that's the router I went to, I highly recommend it, many more features than LB2120 and it also works as it should!
I know this isn't the forum - but I thought this NG story may make you all smile.
I found out that another WiFi NG (ARLO) router I have has an interesting hidden feature. You can't set the WiFi channel, instead it picks the strongest WiFi signal and hops to that channel, so my core network basically has NG following it constantly. My network selects a new "clearer" channel - NG hops on to that one, my network sees congestion, hops, guess who follows...
The only way I've been able to remedy this is to have another WiFi router (the Teltonika router mentioned above) - broadcasting and fixed to a channel that my main network doesn't use, it's right next to the NG box so as to keep it off my main routers channels and lower interference!
Hope that nonsence has made you all smile - happy Friday!
