GS516TP randomly rebooting

We have two GS516TP switches installed and both seem to randomly reboot. When looking at the logs one had rebooted just under 7 days at the last check, but another had rebooted just 18 hours before. It's a fairly basic setup within two racks of audio equipment (distributing DANTE networked/IP audio) with each individal device directly patched into a port. A number of DANTE 'outreach' plates are in use hence the need for the POE. There's no massive amount of data flying around and there's no loops between gear and/or other switches. All should be reasonably sensible. There's no information anywhere on random reboots for this model and has the current firmware. All new to this so if there's anything info that I need to include and haven't I'll gladly get it.

  • Hi chr15g:

What kind of PoE devices are drawing power from the switch? How many watts are they using, and are they using 802.3af or 802.3at standard?

Are you also the switch using PD ports? How many watts can be power source switch supply?

If the switch is powered by PD ports, both PD ports need to be plugged for the switch to operate normally.

Do you also have any kind of syslog that you can provide?

      Hello chr15g,

      Welcome to the community!

I would also like to add if you have checked the temperature of the switch and the rack environment. Also, please check if all of the fans are working properly. Overheating can also cause the device to reboot or turn off.

      Thanks,
