GSM7228PS Ports to use 2 VLANs?

Hi there,

I'm trying to set up my GSM7228PS switch VLANs but not getting any success.
My internal network is 10.0.0.x/24, with the internal default gateway being 10.0.0.254. My ISP specifically said to create it on VLAN62.

So I created VLAN62, set all as blank, then marked 22,23 as "U" (untagged), and port 24 as "T" (Tagged), then PVID 22,23,24 it to PVID62.

with my default gateway cable plugged to port24, I plugged a server and a laptop to ports 22,23. no problems, it can ping the gateway, and get to the Internet.

however, all my other servers (using network IP address 10.0.0.x/24) which are on VLAN 52 (with PVID52), with their ports marked as "U" (untagged), and only 22,23,24 cleared out. however, they can't see/ping the gateway (sitting on VLAN62) as well as the other2 machines.

How should I set my VLAN52 ports so that it can see both VLAN52 and VLAN62

I can't seem to find any article anywhere on the netgear admin manual?

Thanks, much appreciated for your help.

  • Whatever device you're using as the default gateway needs to support VLANs, needs to be configured for the VLANs and on the switch port 24 must belong to both VLANs and be set to "tagged"

Having answered the question - if you're setting all the VLAN52 ports to see both VLANs, then all the hosts will be able to see each other - think about it - all the VLAN52 ports can see each other plus the VLAN62, and vice versa

What's the purpose of having two separate VLANs?
