GSM7228PS LAG Issues
Model: GSM7228PS V2
Firmware: 8.0.3.23
OS: Windows
Hello all,
I had a question about a LAG issue I'm having. I have the GSM7228PS with 2 LAGS set up. 1 is with both SFP+ ports running to a XSM7224S, no issues there. The other is with port 21/23 (SPF ports) running to a GS728TS. I have the LAG set up the exact same way as the first one:
Admin Mode: Enabled
Hash Mode: Src/Dest MAC, VLAN, EType, Incoming Port
STP Mode: Enabled
Static Mode: Disabled
Link Trap: Enabled
The issue I'm having is that it is telling me that there are no active ports for causing the LAG State to be "down" even though both ports are plugged in. The LAG State on the GS728T side is "up" and it appears to be working over there. Settings for the GS728T are as follows:
Port: 25/26
Admin Mode: Enabled
STP Mode: Enabled
Link Trap: Enabled
LAG Type: Static
I can't for the life of me figured why it won't come up.

Hi Dpapacosta,
I find that the LAG Type is different between the GSM7228PS and the GS728T.
In GSM7228PS: the Static Mode is Disabled, which means that the LAG Type is LACP
In GS728T: the LAG Type is Static
So the LAG Type is different, and this different configuration is the reason why the LAG status is down.
So please set the LAG Type to LACP in the GS728T. And I think it will resolve your problem.
Good luck to you!
Best Regards

Hi Dpapacosta,
Welcome to the community! :)
What is the model of the SFP modules you are using?

The module is an AGM731 on both switchs.

Hi Dpapacosta,
Let us isolate the problem. Since the LAG connection is working between the GSM7228PS and the XSM7224S, kindly try to set the LAG using other ports (other than ports 21/23 of the GSM7228PS) between the GSM7228PS and GS748T.
You may also try to swap the SFP modules you have used between the GSM7228PS and the XSM7224S with the SFP modules used between the GSM7228PS and GS748T to furhter isolate the problem.

What's the distance between switch 1 and switch 2 behind the LAG? does the cabling support it?
