GSM7252PS Console Access
I have two GSM7252PS units stacked. I attempted to upgrade firmware, but it failed. Now I am unable to obtain a web management GUI or find a DHCP assigned IP for the switches, and they no longer pass packets. Power cycling does not resolve the problem. I called tech support and they wanted to run tests using console. Problem is I cannot get a console connection! I am using an Intel Mac, but also have a virtual Windows 7 on the Mac (VMWare Fusion). I am not knowledgeable about using Zterm (for the Mac) or HyperTerminal on the PC side, but I installed both of them on my computer in attempting to make a console connection. I have been unable to make any connection to the console on the switches. I am using the serial cable provided with the switche and a serial to USB adapter to connect to my Mac. Can someone give me step by step directions on how to make the connection? At this point, I am simply wanting to try a factory reset and get the switches functioning again. Thanks in advance for any help!

- RXLuminaryHi bwmpc,
You may try the steps provided on this link: http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/23561/~/how-to-access-the-command-line-interface-using-the-console-ports-of-m4100, - bwmpcAspirantThanks for responding. I did find a solution, however. As neither using Windows 7 on virtual PC or Zterm worked for me, I downloaded CoolTerm for Mac and it worked very well in accessing the CLI using serial. The settings used are 9600 baud.
Regards! - RXLuminaryI am glad that you were able to have console access on your GSM7252PS.
What is now the status of your 2 GSM7252PS? Were you able to bring it up and update the FW and gain access to its web-GUI? - bwmpcAspirantI was able to access both the console and the web GUI. Tech support took a look at the switches and tried to update the firmware, but no success - either using CLI or the GUI. End result is replacement of the switches is in progress.
- RXLuminaryNice to know that the switch/es are still within hardware warranty. Hope that the replacement switch/es works fine and it should be. :)
- bwmpcAspirantThe replacement switches are up and running, and performing well.
I was very impressed by the help given by tech support.
