Low fan speed - high temperature
With factory default Firmware Version 6.1.0.12 fan speed was always high and noisy. I install latest 6.1.0.34 and fan speed immediately reduced. I think that fan speed is now smart and will raise together with temperature, but it is NOT. Now fan speed is always low and temperature indicators is very high:
Temperature Status |
|
Sensor | Temperature |
Sensor-1 | 77oC |
Sensor-2 | 64oC |
When this terrible bug will be corrected?

Hi off,
Welcome to the community! :)
Kindly answer the questions below:
a. Have you already reset the XS712T back to factory default settings after successfully upgrading the firmware to v6.1.0.34? If not yet, kindly do it then reconfigure it from scratch.
b. Is the fan speed low with temperature being high even if the XS712T is not connected to your existing network.
c. What is the behavior of the Fan LED light?
I look forward to your response.

1. Yes/no. I have two identical pieces, first I've reset to defaults then upgrade (exact this order), second upgrade without reset (it's in production). No any difference in behaviour.
2. First have all 12 ports connected at 10G:
Temperature Status

Sensor
Temperature
Sensor-1
72oC
Sensor-2
59oC
second only 2 ports at 1G:
Temperature Status

Sensor
Temperature
Sensor-1
64oC
Sensor-2
70oC
So, as you can see there's no significant difference, both have temperature much higher than ambient (21-23).
3. Fan LED is off
- DaneANETGEAR Employee RetiredHi off,It is recommended to reset the device back to factory defaults after upgrading (or downgrading) the firmware. I suggest that you try to factory reset the XS712T switch/es then check if same problem occurs.Regards,DaneANETGEAR Community Team

I am having the same problem and cannot afford to take my practice offline for silly solutions to a design flaw.

We own 2 Netgear switches of model XS712T which we operate with firmware 6.1.0.34. These have the following temperatures and run at reduced speed (not fullspeed):
Switch 1: Sensor 1: 64 ° C, Sensor 2: 58 ° C
Switch 2: Sensor 1: 63 ° C, Sensor 2: 59 ° C
Are these temperatures too high to ensure stable operation? In which temperature range would the sensors have to move for a stable operation? Is a corrected firmware now available?
