Password Recovery Procedure for GSM7224P?

I have no password for a switch I've just been assigned to manage.  Factory default of admin with no password doesn't work.  I need to recover the password for this switch.

The procedure I found is not working.  I'm using HyperTerminal over a USB cable connection.  I can see the boot process output, but my entries produce no response.  I had to turn on local echo to see my keystrokes.

Might someone point me to an appropriate password recovery/reset procedure for this M4100-24G-POE+ switch?

Thanks!

Bill

  • I found that I needed to set HyperTerminal for Flow Control "None" instead of the default of "Hardware".

      Hi billvo,

      Welcome to our community!

Is everything works ok now? Were you able to set it to factory default in order for you to reset the password?

      Regards,

Thanks!  Yes, I was able to set a password and reset the switch to defaults.

I had overlooked the Flow Control specification in the procedure I referenced.  The specified XON/XOFF may be correct, but Hardware Flow Control (default for HyperTerminal) does not work.

        Bill
