The 169 address on your NIC is expected, since the switch doesn't have an dhcp server in it.
Did you try connecting the switch to your router? Then check the attached device list in the router config.
I believe the discovery method uses ethernet broadcast, so you might also need to disable any firewall/internet security software running on the PC.

Are you seeing the power LED turn yellow turing the reset process?
For some reason I missed this page 21. Thanks. It says:
- 0-5 seconds: power cycle (reboot)
- 5-10 seconds: factory reset, but keep registration
- 10+ seconds: factory reset and loose registration
I tried all three variants. The power button did light yellow(-ish).
But still the same behavior after each reboot/reset (169.254.x.x address).
