GS305EPP compatibility issues?

Hello,

my home setup currently involves a GS108PE in the basement that powers two switches (GS108Tv2 & GS105PE) in the attic via PoE. There is about 15m Cat.7 installation cable and a patch panel at either end between the two locations.

This setup has been working great for years.

Now I replaced the GS308E with a GS305EPP and the switches in the attic do not power up. If I move the switch temporary to the attic and connect it to the two other switches there via a short 1m patch cable they power up fine. 🤔

I am clueless what is the problem here. I do not see any fault in the wiring plus the old switch (GS108PE) could handle this setup without problems. Any help is apreciated, especially from Netgear since only Netgear devices are involved.

Does not sound wrong - especially with direct cables powering each of the two individually.

Are there complere four pair (eight strand) cables installed?

Sorry but i forgot to mention that the cable from basement to the attic is Cat7 duplex cable (eight strand), so actually two cables.

And yes, you are right: the old switch was GS108PE 🙂
