JGS516PE not working after firmware upgrade
After upgrading the firmware to 2.6.0.48, my JGS516PE is not working properly.
- I am unable to access the web interface.
- I have done multiple factory resets.
- I have tried to connect with switch connected to wifi router with DHCP server.
- I have tried to connect directly via cable to laptop.
Things I have observed:
- The switch does not always reset after holding down the reset button.
- The switch does reset on its own, seemingly randomly but quite often.
- I can sometimes detect the switch using Prosafe Plus Configuration Utility and Netgear Switch Discovery Tool. Sometimes this is at an expected IP address (192.168.0.239 when connected directly and at a sensible IP address when on DHCP) but often it is detected at 0.0.0.0.
- When the switch is detected, I cannot reliably ping it. Sometimes the ping works, sometimes not.
- When it is detected by Prosafe Utility I am not able to log in. I understand that the firmware update has made the switch accessible via web only by default.
- The switch does function as a "dumb" switch. Devices can communicate via the switch.
Any ideas, hints, tips etc. would be very welcome!

The JGS516PE is a switch. This place is all about routers.
While many questions about routers are generic and could be answered anywhere, some things need specialist knowledge.
You might get more help, and find earlier questions and answers specific to your device, in the appropriate section for your hardware. That's probably here:
Discuss Ethernet Switches Plus and Pro Managed
You might like to search there for messages related to your problem.
I will ask the Netgear moderator to move your message.
In the meantime you could visit the support pages:
Support | NETGEAR
Feed in your model number and check the documentation for your hardware. Look at the label on the device for the model number.
Check for various troubleshooting tips.
You may have done this already. I can't tell from your message.
I mention it because Netgear stopped supplying printed manuals and CD versions some years ago and people sometimes miss the downloads.- andyaddAspirant
Thanks I realised that this was the wrong forum but couldn't figure out how to edit the post.
