What happened to GS308T ?

Hello

I am searching for a new switch and found Netgear's "GS308T"

(notice the 'T' at the end, not to be confused with any other switch with a similar model designation.)

But as I search for where I can buy this switch I get no results.

When I search at netgear.com for GS308T the search bar shows an autosuggestion for "S350 Smart Switches (GS308T) 8-Port Gigabit Ethernet Smart Switch", but as far as I can see there is no product page on netgear.com for GS308T.

So, what happened to GS308T?

Is the switch discontinued?

Has it been rebranded and now have an entirely different model designation?

  • As I'm not Netgear, I can't give you "the" answer to your question.

Looking from outside, these S350 Series models were launched to be sold into some price sensitive sales channels or markets. The GS308T came with a subset of industry leading services, stripping some features having an impact on the  pricing.

The GS108Tv3 8-Port Gigabit Ethernet Smart Switch with Cloud Management comes in addition to the features you know from the GS308T (coming with a five-years-hardware warranty and some nn days of installation support, WebUI, SNMP, management VLAN) with

    • Worry-free limited lifetime warranty (for the original buyer)
    • Lifetime online technical chat support (for the original buyer)
    • Next Business Day (NBD) replacement in case of a hardware failure
    • Alternate to the external power supply, the ability to power over PoE
    • Netgear Insight Cloud Management (one year license included)
    • A streamlined, harmonized, and supported CLI

Yes, there are as of writing no other small non-PoE models in the Netgear offerings, the "bigger brother" is the GS110TPv3 8-Port Gigabit PoE+ Ethernet Smart Switch with 2 SFP Ports and Cloud Management (55W) already.

    Hope this helps.

    Regards,

    -Kurt.

  • Hello Kurt, thanks for the helpful answer.

Yes, I draw the same conclusion that GS108Tv3 is the alternative product closest to GS308T.

Another thing I find strange is that both GS108Tv3 and GS308T show as EoS at https://www.netgear.com/about/eos/(the EoS search is a bit wonky if anyone tries it out)

However, the product page for GS108Tv3 has nothing about it being an EoS product. I get purchase offer "Add to cart" and GS108Tv3 can be delivered in a couple of days. https://www.netgear.com/business/wired/switches/smart-cloud/gs108tv3/

I can also find plenty of stores selling GS108Tv3.

    So, to summarize:

As I said, I'm not Netgear - have challenged them for a complete and correct product life cycle documentation both customers, system integrators  -and- sales can depend on. Iphie_C IphieChen
