FVS318N Setup help
Hello, I'm currently trying to setup a FVS318N in our office. I am rather confused though.
Basically we have an ADSL router in the room and what I would like to do is connect that to the FVS318N and then share the internet from the FVS318N. I would also like to plug a NAS server in to the firewall.
Is this configuration possible ? I have managed to share the internet by plugging a patch cable into a port on the firewall. However if I plug that patch cable into the WAN it does not share the internet connection.
Am I right in saying that the internet should be plugged into the WAN port ? Sorry I'm a bit confused by all of this.
The ADSL router is a Sagemcom 2704N.
Many thanks
Chris

Hi k1llercop,
Welcome to the community! :)
I found out online that the Sagemcomm 2704N is a combination of ADSL modem and wireless router. For you to maximize the functionality of the FVS318N as a VPN firewall, I suggest you to configure the Sagemcomm 2704N as a modem-only device. Then, connect the Sagemcomm 2704N to the WAN port of the FVS318N. Thus, making the FVS318N as the main router since the WAN IP Address will be registered to it. Then, configure the FVS318N and finally you may connect your NAS to one of the LAN ports of the FVS318N.

@killercop,
Were you able to try to set the Sagemcomm 2704N as a modem-only device set to full-bridge mode? Then, making the FVS318N set as the main router?

Hello DaneA thanks for the response. Unfortunately there are no options on the Sagemcomm to put it into modem only mode. Do you hava any other suggestions ?

Hi k1llercop,
Do you have an old DSL modem that you can try to use? Or, if ever the Sagemcom 2704N was provided by your ISP to you, you might want to exchange it to a device that is a combination of ADSL modem and router wherein its possible to configure it as a modem-only device set to full-bridge mode.
