Netgear FVS336G WAN 2 Timeouts
Hi,
I have a Netgear FVS336G with two WAN connections, WAN 1 is a EFM Circuit and WAN 2 is an ADSL Circuit,
WAN 1 is connected to a Draytek Vigor 2930 from LAN on the Draytek to WAN 1 on the Netgear.
WAN 2 is connected to a Draytek 2830 from the LAN on the Draytek to WAN 2 on the Netgear.
When the router fails over to WAN 2 you cannot browse the Internet and all of the computers on the network get timeout error message in IE when browsing the Internet, I have changed DNS Server from the ones given by the ISP in the Netgear to Open DNS Settings and this has not helped, you cannot browse to websites via the IP address either, Pinging to a websites IP address also fails!
Is there some kind of settings in the Netgear or the Draytek that needs to be adjusted to allow the Netgear to pass traffic correctly for a ADSL Connection
The settings in the Netgear are correct as I have plugged a Laptop into the LAN port of the Draytek 2830 Router and if I give it the IP settings the same that are configured in the Netgear you can browse the Internet correctly without any error messages.
FYI: We have a Windows Server 2008 R2 Domain Controller which controls DHCP and DNS, I have the DHCP clients set to get the Default Gateway 192.168.**.*** which is the Netgear.
Thank you for your help in advance.

- jmizoguchiVirtuosoIn Fail over after see the drops and uses the secondary WAN it should work fine. If the AD is pointed to gateway of the router like you said it should work
192.168.**.***
btw, useless to mask private ip - iToonNoviceHi,
Thanks for your reply, It does detect the fail over and WAN 2 connects correctly but on the computers on the network you still cant browse the Internet - Still receive timeout error messages. - jmizoguchiVirtuosoIs your DNS on your server is using ISP DNS?
- iToonNoviceDNS on the server points to itself locally then our second domain controller as the secondary with 8.8.8.8 & 8.8.4.4 and 85.189.102.5 & 85.189.39.5 as forwarders and the settings use "Root Hints" if forwarders aren't available" all computers on the network point to the Internal DNS Server.
Thank You
