Cannot connect to WAC720 via browser
I am not able to connect to a stand alone WAC720 ProSafe access point management interface. I've tried connecting directly to the device with a network cable plugged into my MacBook and then into the AP. I've also tried plugging the AP into my network where it can pickup an IP from my DHCP server.
When I tried the direct connect method, the browser timed out and is unable to connect to the page. I've tried Firefox, Chrome and Safari browsers. I also cannot ping the AP's default IP address (192.168.0.100) nor does it show up when I scan the network with NMAP and a couple of other scanners.
When I connected the device to my network, it didn't pick up an IP (doesn't show up in my DHCP server logs) nor does it show up when I scan the network.
Both the default SSIDs show up in my wireless traffic. Oddly enough, when I have the AP connected to my network, I can connect wireless devices to it and it passes out IP addresses from the DHCP server.
I've tried resetting the device numerous times but nothing seems to work. A search of the interwebs and the NetGear site don't turn up anything useful.
Any help would be appreciated.
Best Regards,
Jim
Is it couth to respond to your own post?
I connected with NetGear support via the support chat tool. After spending about 15 minutes working on it the support tech, Arnold, deemed the unit defective and issued an RMA to replace the unit. Should have the new unit later this week. Hopefully it will work properly and I can get on with replacing the aged Cisco WAP.
