How do I remove add-on C from WC7520? for use with wndap360

It would not let me add this question without picking one of the predefined models from the list. However I am using the WC7520 with wndap350 and 360 APs

I purchased a used WC7520 to add as a redundant backup for the WC7520 that I have already in use. I reset it to factory defaults and set it up for my environment. I could not get it to activate as the secondary controller. After some trouble shooting I found that it has a 10-AP add-on license pack installed, where my original one doesn’t.

Under Maintenance> Licensing> Registration I tried to delete the Key, however the check box to select the key is not clickable. Am I looking in the right area to for this to be removed? Or is there a special reset that will remove it?

Thanks in advance.

  • I checked the license key on the WC7520 and it was still there. Clicking the refresh button did nothing. I rebooted it and checked it again with the same results. So I went to Maintenance > Licensing > Advanced then clicked the Replace Button. The 10-AP license key was then removed.

Once the license key was removed I Set-up redundancy without any issues. The redundancy failover works beautifully.

Thank you for all of you help with this, it is greatly appreciated!

    Hi Doober281,

    Welcome to the community! :)

Yes, you are in the right area where to delete the license.  You may double-check it on page 152 of the WC7520 reference manual here.

Since the check box is not clickable, kindly try the following steps below:

    1. Delete the cache of the browser you are using then access the web-GUI of the used WC7520, then try to delete the license.

    2. Use other browsers like Firefox, Chrome, or lower version of Internet Explorer (such as IE7, IE8, or IE9) to access the web-GUI of the used WC7520, then try to delete the license.

    3. Use other PC or laptop to access the web-GUI of the used WC7520, then try to delete the license.

    4. Disconnect the used WC7520 from your existing network. Since you mentioned that you have already factory reset the used WC7520, connect a PC directly to it.  Set a static IP address on the PC that is within the same IP range of the default IP address of the WC7520 which 192.168.0.250.  Then, access its web-GUI and try to delete the license.

    Hope it helps.

    Regards,

      Hi,

Another requirement for redundancy is that the backup controller should have equal or more number of AP licenses then the primary controller. Before you proceed with deleting the license on the backup controller, please make sure you will have the required number of licenses in the backup controller.

First off thanks for the quick response.

I’m not sure of what happen to the title of my post, but it was supposed to be: How do I remove add-on Licensing from WC7520? For use with wndap360.

      Ok so,

      • I Isolated the WC7520 from my network.
      • Connected directly to it using Chrome browser with cleared cache.
      • Reset it to factory defaults again.

And still the check box next to the add-on license key is not clickable. The check box in the header above the actual key is clickable however checking it then clicking delete just clears the check box.

I also tried this with IE 9 on an old XP box with the same results.

When I first received the unit I upgraded it to the latest firmware not realizing that it had an add-on license pack installed. I just wondering if somehow flashing the firmware locked in the add-on.

Is there a reset command that can be issued from the console connection that will clear all information stored on the unit. Because apparently the reset button does not do this.

      Thanks!

        @Doober281

I got the serial number of the 2nd hand WC7520 via private message.  However, you have not included the 10-AP license key registered in it.  Kindly send it to me via private message as well.  I will make a request if its possible to deactivate the 10-AP license registered to the 2nd hand WC7520.

        Regards,

Thanks for the feedback.  It is possible that the 2nd hand WC7520 you have purchased is still registered to the original owner of it and the 10-AP license is still activated.  Kindly send me via private message the picture of the serial number of the 2nd hand WC7520 you bought that is labeled on the device itself as well  as the 10-AP license key registered in it.
