Performance Degradation:

We are experiencing significant performance degradation with our Netgear wireless network. The speed tests are consistently lower than expected, and large file transfers are painfully slow. Are there any recommended configurations or firmware updates to improve performance?"

    Can you share the Topology of your WLAN network?
    Router===Switches===Access points?
    It is needed to give some specific inputs.

    For very general things :
    Some of the things i would start looking at are

    High channel utilization, if above 40%, can lead to network congestion. To mitigate this, consider changing the channels.
    (or you can set the device triggered autoRRM in NETGEAR Insight (cloud-based Network management tool)

    2) Channel width
    Have you set the channel width to be 5Ghz and 6Ghz wide enough ?
    But by default, all our APs have 20Mhz on 2.4Ghz, 40Mhz on 5Ghz, and 80Mhz on 6Ghz.

    3) % of traffic that is unicast and broadcast packets :
    Use the ACL and Datarate settings to drop unwanted broadcast and multicast traffic.

    4) One or two slow clients slow down the whole network. IOT clients have many old 11N (or even older) Wi-Fi chipsets. Create a separate 2.4Ghz-only SSID for these IOT clients.
