WAX610 upgrade to 10.8.6.6 firmware version issues
Hi all, I upgraded two WAX610 to the latest version at the same time (bad yes). Instantly I noticed different issues :
- some SSID were not broadcasted anymore
- radio signal was weaker in some areas where they were previously ok
- clients where disconecting and had issues to reconnect
So this was so bad I did not properly run any extended troubleshooting, checked basic things like reboot result and initiated rollback which instantly recovered all services and stability. Anyone had any of these issues after doing the upgrade ?
I intend to give it a try again when having some time, one AP at a time.
Appreciate your feedback.

Hi jukste
What was the previous firmware version running? Any error thrown during upgrade? Can you please send the AP logs to my business email (pramendra.singh@netgear.com)?
Warm Regards,
Pramendra

Hi jukste
And welcome to the NETGEAR Community! 🙂
These two WAX610 are not on Insight correct? Also if you are telling us that you only have experience the issue after upgrading to the latest firmware, I assume that the previous firmware was stable for you is this correct? How many SSID do you have for each AP if they are not joined to Insight? Were you able to submit the logs to Pramendra so he can provide feedback?
Have a lovely day,
Erwin

Hi,
Same here with 2 WAX620
Rollback to 10.8.7.1.
symptoms: most equipment ends up connected and stuck in 2.4Ghz 11b mode.
This applies to 2.4Ghz-only IOT equipment , and Wifi6-compatible phones.
Before (with 10.8.7.1), they appeared connected in 11ng (for IOT equipment)and in 11ng/11ac/11ax mode for others.
So, the equipment is well connected and Internet access is working, but with a maximum link speed of 11Mbps.On the first connection it seems fine and we get a link speed consistent with the environment and distance, but after a while there's a downgrade to 11b for no good reason.

Hi xMaeda
Just for clarification, issue was observed with V10.8.8.6 and not actually with V10.8.6.6?
Please confirm is the issue is resolved after downgrading to V10.8.7.1 firmware.
I would request you to please upgrade one AP to the latest firmware and let us know if you still see the issue. If you still observe the issue, I would request you to share the device logs and client MAC to my NETGEAR business email. I will share my email as a DM to you.
Thanks!
Pramendra

Hi,
I am having issues with the new firmware (10.8.8.6) also.I have 15 AP's that are Insight managed (same firmware) - that have absolutely no problem.
We also have another 6 that are not Insight managed that freeze up for hours and reboot randomly. We did not have any issues with previous firmware.
I don't want to roll back the previous firmware - it resets the AP to factory defaults - and I have a lot of settings to re-apply.
Any suggestions ?
Kind regards,
Lucian
