Issues onboarding WBE718 access points in Australia
Hi Folks,
I am having issues onboarding several WBE718 access points using Engage.
The onboard button is not available (greyed out/disabled).
My site region is set to Australia but if I create a new site in another region (the UK for example) the onboard button is active. When I try onboarding in this second site it goes as far as updating the access points, but won't onboard them because the APs are for a different region (Australia, where the APs were purchased and will be deployed).
I assume this is due to the fact that these APs were only recently certified here in Aus. Is this something I can fix locally, do I need to wait for an Engage update, or is there something I am doing wrong?
The Engage software is on version 2.3.1.8 and my various models of M4250 switches are all updated to the most recent versions available (as reported through Engage).
Cheers,
Chris

Hi Chris,
From what I see WBE710 / WBE718 Firmware Version 11.7.0.12 including support for Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore dates back from early July, 2025.
Is the location on the AP itself (locally!) set to Australia, too?
These are common question not on with Netgear Engage, but also with Netgear Insight. The device location must match the intended operation location, otherwise adding it to e.g. Netgear Insight won't be possible.
If this does not resolve the problem, don't hesitate to contact Netgear Support please. Stay tuned for some "fun" with the L2 support 8-). Good luck!

Thanks for the reply Kurt,
I can upgrade firmware and onboard in the UK region site, until the point that Engage checks the region of the AP. It's AU region so doesn't onboard correctly.
In the Australian region, Engage doesn't even give me the option of onboarding. Engage says that I can't onboard this model of switch in my region. Given this different behaviors between regions it seems to me like an Engage issue rather than a WBE718 firmware issue?

Yes, as it appears. Had a chance to file a support ticket with Netgear already?
